- Award-winning broadcaster Larry King, who spent more than six decades on radio and television, died on January 23, 2021 at the age of 87. In this profile originally broadcast on October 1, 2006, King talked with "Sunday Morning" anchor Charles Osgood about interviewing the famous and infamous, curiosity, and the devastation he felt as a nine-year-old when his father died.

I had a chance to be interviewed by mr. King when I was a disc jockey at wtma in Charleston South Carolina when I was doing a muscular dystrophy fundraiser by standing on the top of a 7-Eleven store for 4 days without sleep when mr. King called me to congratulate me for my efforts it had a profound effect upon me as a broadcaster I will never forget he was gracious and very kind Thanks for the Memories mr. King rest well
Thinking about Larry King today, I suddenly realize how wrapped up he is my memories of some of the seminal world events that have happened in my lifetime. I remember his hosting the funeral events for Ronald Reagan in 2004, which I watched with my dad. I remember sitting in my freshman dorm room, watching Larry's tribute to Elizabeth Taylor when she died in 2011. I remember watching so many interviews with him. Most of all, I remember how curious he was. He taught us all that curiosity is the elixir of life. It keeps us young and vigorous. It is a sad day as we say, "So long," to Larry King.
Larry got interviews that many people couldn’t get. RIP
Innate curiosity is the key to any successful journalist or interviewer. The best of the best. He will be missed.

I remember as kid in the 1980s I was having a hard time sleeping before school.. so with my boom box radio one night I came across Larry’s overnight show.. it’s was like 1 am lol.. and found great enjoyment in listening to his show his interviews ! And yes i finally few a sleep haha.. rip larry and thanks..
He has a radio voice and never lost it. His voice back when I was in college helped rock me to sleep. Not cuz he was boring but just relaxing.

One of the greatest broadcasters that were apart of my teen years in boarding school, and lately with an aspiration and dream to go into broadcasting journalism myself. He inspired me, may you forever Rest In Peace Mr. King...✊🏽💔👑

With the fragmented media in the world today, it's hard to imagine the emergence of the next Larry King, Paul Harvey, Walter Cronkite, Mike Wallace....The world loses another who cannot be replaced.

He had Nixon on the air and did not ask him about postponing-sabotage the Vietnam conflict resolution. Larry let him walk with softballs. That made my blood boil.

Give me a break, the only reason he's depicted as an 'icon' is due to his longevity in the business. King was a stiff, an awful interviewer. Like a deer caught in the headlights.
