    You could have left the clutch alone and simply moved the engine back a little. The belt is too tight. The belt needs to be loose enough the engine spins freely without any movement on the rear clutch.

      coming as a cart mechanic. this is the proper move... the weights in the clutch are more to adjust torque vs top end.

    I've had the same problem hand haven't found anyone to resolve this issue but you thanks! Also I tried moving the engine back and slack to the belt but that doesn't work well at all.

    Been doing a clubcar coversion for a couple years off and on ....now after my honey dew list is down to just about nothing ,I am back on it , I just put a starter?flywheel kit om my 13hp gx390 engine .I have everything mocked up retrofit. All my clearances are done and mods to the engine ,except for the exhaust ,in which I like your mod. I have been watching lots of video's and ,I must say you have the trail and error and balls to try everything . This drivetrain info is great and enables other options. I am working on the electrical ,and utilizing most of the routed wiring already their .I have running lights for the canopy, 2 fog lights & 2 headlights & a horn. I am waiting on a 12v 6 fuse block which will tidy up and protect all the circuits .I ordered a full dash and I will be able to gut the starter casing that came with the kit and retrofit into the dash. I do need my engine mount plate to flex up and down to relive the tension. AWESOME Videos !!!!!

      I ended up ditching that clutch and getting a comet 780. They’re pretty expensive but it was well worth it. Vevor makes a knock off, but those engage at idle and i do not recommend.

      I took my 90's model 4x6 John deere gator bed off put on my Yamaha G-2A j55101734 golf cart . It as a 3 1/2" overhang on each side to me looks good. Have put a remote manual choke in . Have flushed my rear end and put new rear end oil in . Currently working on the brakes waiting on parts to come in . New brake drums, brake shoes, brake cables for both sides ,brake spring kit . Next after that will be LEDs head lights and taillights, turning lights, brake lights kit . Light body work and paint theme Fla. Gators colors Last thing will be new tires keeping my rims going with Carlisle 23x10x12 / 489 tires

    What drive belt are you using? I am thinking of doing the same engine swap on my 83 G1 to the predator 212 also. Is it a HP2028?

      I put a Predator 420cc in mine works great

    Do you know if the front clutch on the engine has to be level with the rear clutch? Or does it matter. Do you have to raise the engine up? I wasnt sure if it would make it slip.

    What about a 40 series driver

      That uses a 1” wide belt. The stock rear clutch uses a 1 3/16”. It would work, but I’d lose low end gearing

      I've got a golf cart I'm doing a budget build on for my father inlaw. It's a 89 ez go 2 stroke gas, the engine was shot so I picked up a predator 212. I'm using the oem driven clutch, what drive clutch do you reccomend?
      P.s. I still have the oem driver but it's a tapered deal not keyed, would need an adapter of some sort

      @@southerndualsport3827 i ended up using a predator 212
      30 series drive clutch
      Factory driven clutch
      It was so snappy and torquey that I got 22x11x8 tires and a 5 " lift to accommodate the tires.
      It will now do 16mph which is plenty for me and the little ones and still has enough torque to pull a small car.
      However I had to do it again I would definitely have used the 420 and a 40 series
      I have not messed with the governor at all

    The puller bolt is not 9/16 x 18 inch(whatever that is) its 7/16-20 thds per inch

    Could have just moved the engine back some half inch or one inch it would have idled in gear

      josh pittman eBay. 3/4 to 1” sleeve adapter and then the 1” taper adapter

      @@dalejrfan820002000 yes I did I went with John deere gator drive belt 1 3/16 after market type also went with my Comet 40 series driver clutch. After I ordered from Gopowersports red springs, Medium rollers and the big green spring . Stall kit for 2600 rpms. My Predator 420cc motor turns at 2500 rpms . I haven't clocked my speed let but I would say I go about 25 or 30 mph . I'm happy with it .

      @@dalejrfan820002000 also that belt you had on in your video will work just go with a Comet 40 series driver clutch with 2600 rpms stall kit. If you have a 1" shift on the motor

    Remove the govener add a Performance air intake and that should get your rpms up enough to full engage the clutch.

      Have you tried adjusting the idle down on the engine, or is the belt too tight? I’ve found that you need quite a bit of slack so the spinning sheaves don’t grab it from friction

    One more thing look on TH-cam for a video on how to install a stall kit for a Comet 40 series clutch. Can't recall the name of it but it's done by young man he has links in video to Gopowersports lists the 2600 rpms stall kit . It's so easy to do just follow what he says to do.
