Thank you Jamie and the panel. Covered the basics nicely there for clients. Shocking betrayal by No11 on the voting public. This cannot be allowed to go ahead. We left the EU to protect our assets and now we invite foreign investors to pick at the bones of our land.
Hi Barbara, The consultation is due to run until 22 January 2025. It's worth noting that the consultation is to decide how the changes will be implemented from a technical point of view. We're not expecting the changes to be overturned or dropped.
On inheriting money, is there any reason why you didn't mention deeds of variation (aka Deeds of Family Arrangement) so the inherited amount can skip a generation and pass to a trust or the younger generations directly. This of course would be subject to it being effected within two years from date of death of the deceased.
Options such as deeds of variation can be a useful tool in the appropriate circumstances, but we advise seeking legal advice on that which is why we didn't go into too much detail in a financial planning context here.
