Yes very special amazing with his pen.... you breakdowns are next level ...sick beat ...loving this journey incredible request thanku both lots an lots much love an God bless always x
Aes often refers to himself as various cryptids (King Kong, Godzilla, crossroads bogie, etc.) or sometimes a ghost who through a variety of means walks in the spirit world. He’s notoriously stand-offish and doesn’t like people so to me “the haunt” is his apartment where he often wanders alone like a ghost and this line is where he first gets to know Kirby. And of course he’s such a loner that in “Shrunk” he tells us his “in case of emergencies is in the daisies chasing birds” because that’s probably where she is. Misery and golden era samplers are depression and his old school recording equipment that he writes and records with while she hangs out with him. This is also where the maze of cables comes from
Never thought to look it up. "Shots of hot Strongid" is reference to a brand of parasiticide used to treat parasites in cats. Which of course ties into the Vaccine Queen line that follows. I do like the tie in to the frustration with therapy he expressed in "Shrunk" at the end where his Therapist, really having nothing tangible to offer for advice goes "I dunno, why not get a kitten?". The fact that he implies that it actually DID work and help him is also pretty damn amusing!
I think this is a hilarious and unexpected conclusion where parts 1 and 2 are much darker.. also this is widely considered as his second easiest song to understand haha, all commenters probably know the easiest. Yet hilarious how complex and wordy each of the individual lines are just to describe his freaking cat. Vaccine queen deem church socks hostage is one of my favorite lines ever, the overly complex way to just say the cat takes his socks + the rhyme scheme in that one line is wild. Two big things you opened my eyes to here: 1. I hadn’t thought of the idea of him projecting himself onto the cat with a lot of these lines, especially the second verse but I think you’re spot on. Can’t wait to dive into that more myself. 2. I had never thought too hard about the visuals in the video itself but love you interpretation of the cat being the only living thing in the video, really representing it’s impact on him while he just sees himself as a puppet surrounded by inanimate objects. Fire!
I thought I was going a little too deep with this myself. But I did think there was some credence to the 2 points you mentioned. The last 2 if you don't mind I'll drop first thing in the morning. Just ran out of time to wrap them up today but it will be dropped early in the morning as I wake up if you're cool with that.
@@traktician All good buddy, whenever works for you! I know these are all loooong so I appreciate it. Also works well for me anyways, Im back in the states and about to start work today so the timing will work out well
In regards to naming his cat Kirby, Aes is known to love his retro games hence I've always assumed he's named his cat after the Nintendo character Kirby: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kirby_(character)
Fil, hahaha, I've had cats long ago, well they had me really. Showing his feline side while scratching at the bare faced lies of organised tribes. Bloody brilliant. #QcumberSquad #AesopRock - Fil, I'm off back to the study.
You should check older stuff too like Big Bang…the Float album could keep a person reflecting for months alone…AR is not for everyone but the pinnacle for those interested in thinking and trying to grow/expand…love that you are digging deeper and appreciate what a lot don’t
I think The Haunt is his apartment. When he says Golden Era Samplers, he's talking his samplers he uses to make beats. Theyre from the Golden Era of that type of equipment.
I don't see the church allusions where you do. "Briefs on her head, playing Walking with a Panther" Cat is running around with his underwear on her head while he listens to an old L L Cool J album. "Good around misery and golden era samplers" Kirby is a good companion when he's depressed and she also likes the "golden era" rap music he listens to, with all the sampling happening.
Nah you weren't looking too deep into that line... Aes is well known for his crazy double and triple entendres that are very hard to spot unless you know your history (Aes is a huge history buff)

I just wanted to say thank you so much Campbell craving.. This has been truly amazing ❤ And of course FIL brilliant reactions 😁
Absolutely love that you let it run through one time.. that’s huge. Also still learning so much, thank you again.. big love from Canada

Glad you're on the Aesop train! I'd love to hear your take on his track "Gopher Guts"!!
did you see Fil do Gopher guts the other day? if not go check it out!

Very good analysis. Would love to hear your take on Marble Cake and Plastic Soldiers. Cheers!
Keys to happiness
“Holy Smokes” will help fill gaps with his upbringing and relationship/divergence from religion as well
Hell yes “ Holy Smokes” is a great suggestion
He doesn't hold back in hole smokes! Super dark references but I love it!

Walking with a panther is a ll cool j album, golden era samplers is old school hip hop like ll cool j's era
I got a kitten.. or two! 🐈🐈🐾💛
Holy Smokes. Definitely a must listen to learn alot more about Ian as a person. Before he was Aesop.
I think The Haunt is his apartment. When he says Golden Era Samplers, he's talking his samplers he uses to make beats. Theyre from the Golden Era of that type of equipment.
"Walking With a Panther" is an album by LL Cool J
LOVE the interpretation of Kirby being the only living thing in the house. That's a really novel idea I've never heard before.
Also the ideas about him projecting. Damn.
holding forty more in the corners of fort Knox means they are treasure worth their weight in gold.
L L Cool J - panther.
Basically Kirby chills while he lives his day. Listening to LL. Watching jeopardy listening to golden era samples for tracks
❤

"Briefs on her head, playing Walking with a Panther"
Cat is running around with his underwear on her head while he listens to an old L L Cool J album.
"Good around misery and golden era samplers"
Kirby is a good companion when he's depressed and she also likes the "golden era" rap music he listens to, with all the sampling happening.
(No criticism from me. This is your first listen and you are doing great!)
