It's funny how we don recognize our country origin but know abt other countries even wen Google has all the info.. I was even told it's grown in some Himalayan regions also..
The origin is definitely not India in any history , yes it is part of recent past as avacodo was brought by Portugese trader from central and Latin America. And As Portugese came to southern part of india its is grown there. But india's climate is not suitable for avacados that is why we can't produce a lot and that is why it is expensive.
