    I have a Manx clone, and it's the most fun vehicle I own. It gets "thumbs up" everywhere I go, people love it.

    As a dune buggy builder/owner/driver for over a decade, I must say they are the absolute most fun car for the money. Build them for half the cost of buying any other car that’s half the fun.

    There's a guy in my state who has a dune buggy with a giant fiberglass shark almost the size of the car itself mounted on top. Bruce Myers and the Manx's development is a fascinating story, particularly how the buggy design was basically stolen from him by every little fiberglass shop because he didn't copyright/patent it fast enough. By the time he got around to submitting his patent the copies were already in wide production and it wasn't unique any more.
    Jeep owner tip: use the tire as a step and the roll bar as something to hold on to and swing your leg over the fender. It's all about the smiles per gallon.

    Awesome car! Step on top of the back tire and grab the roll bar to get in the back seat.

    Zack- Dune Buggy driving tip: They are designed to be driven with bare feet. The pedal arrangement is tailored to barefoot drivers. Don't laugh- It makes a big difference. The buggy I drove had seat covers designed for drivers and passengers wearing swimwear. Thus, lots of skin on seat cover contact. So it was soft and mostly cotton cloth.

    • @JohnnyRoku
      @JohnnyRoku ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It’s the classic roller pedal, most dune buggies and Baja bugs have them installed, first experience with one was in a Baja bug in childhood and it always slipped. Good times

    I looked up dune buggies for sale and they're selling for over 10k.

    Nice buggy
    But 2:42 you just ran a stop sign in what appears to be a school zone as evident by the soccer field and what looks like a school building at 2:47. You got a nice buggy but I do hope you don't compromise safety and respect with road regulations.

    The dune buggy… If Germany decided to have a baby with America, this is what would be born.

    • @bwofficial1776
      @bwofficial1776 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Germans actually had something similar during WWII as their Jeep competitor. It was called the Kubelwagen and was a predecessor to the VW Thing.

    great video but vw beetles are anything but reliable! you have to really watch the regular car reviews episode to understand. they shake themselves out of time and they need constant maintainence to keep them going. they are really simple to work on and to learn how to keep going. You either need to know how to fix it or have a lot of money to throw to a mechanic to make it happy again, or like a lot of bug owners they lie and say that their car is super reliable but its constantly parked vuz they don't know what to do with it!

    • @steveafanador6441
      @steveafanador6441 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah they can be a pain especially with temperatures. They are temperamental

    • @mromatic17
      @mromatic17 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@steveafanador6441 ohh yeah i learned to drive a stick on a 73 super beetle. when it was cold it sometimes would sit there dead till it wanted to start. plus it wouldn't hold more than a half tank of gas for some reason. it was a cool car and i appreciate the design, but they are horrible to have in a cold climate!
