I thought the most anxiety inducing one was the final stretch in the 4Th area. Being by yourself and on a time limit because of filters with radiation everywhere and giant MUTANT GORILLAS is terrifying.

Same. I didn't even realize these were "good" or "bad" scenarios. I tried to be good, but somehow still ended up with the bad ending. Game wasn't very obvious about it. At any rate, glad TH-cam exists so I could just watch the good one. The thought of playing this game again makes me kinda tilted. There were lots of super annoying parts.

I did all of the radio stuff. I heard him basically call a meeting and acting as a proto leader. But you can also hear bandits having a conversation and plotting against him and seeing through his deception. This is the last we hear of him as far as I know.

For the first chapter. You don't really need to not kill the cultists, it's just highly recommended to knock them out. Regardless though, I found that if you just stealth the last mission for the bridge in the first chapter Duke lives. But still, try to knock people out and generally just go for the stealth route in most things.
When you escape the church and encounter the catfish you run into duke and he starts talking to you, at the end he foreshadows how to get the good ending by saying “Hey Artyom isn’t it funny we both have the same blood type?”
Only some of them are, and they're actually just wounded on the ground from memory. The problem is stealthing through the cave at night can cause you to shoot a wounded tribal on the surface since headlamp=enemy in most cases.
That's simply not true about the not killing anyone. I got the good ending with all of em on the Aurora, killed plenty in Volga, Caspian and Taiga. The key difference is, who you kill, and to help the friendly people in each area. Which means, put your gun away when encountering the cultists in the world, kill the bandits, free the prisoners, BE NICE to the civilians. That way they don't see you as a threat on the bridge cutscene. In Caspian, get the photo, DON'T kill any of the slaves. That way, it should be possible to get Damir to stay. In Taiga, there's the good guys and the bad guys, specifically the pioneers and the pirates. Kill the pirates as you like, but leave the pioneers alone. Which means, when you sneak into the pioneer camp, don't kill anyone. Apart from that, don't kill people that are wounded or surrendering. Knock em out, they won't come back either way. The thing with the good and bad guys actually applies for every location. Volga: Fanatics are the good guys, believe it or not, bandits are the enemies. Caspian: the baron and his people are and, the slaves are good. Taiga: Pioneers good, Pirates bad.
@@MetaMortis21 I did, but it didn't screw me over. The system is more nuanced than people are giving it credit for. It seems most likely that 2 moral points per section are required, so you can do some 'bad' stuff and still come out ok.
The Metro series is great but the thing is I like multiple endings for the latest game in the series so all this stuff to get the good ending frustrates me so i stop caring after a while. Idk though. I wanna get the game platinum so hopefully the game has a lot of replay value besides the trophies.
I am 100% sure that you can get good ending just with Alyosha and Duke without Damir cause I did finished the game like that but I am not sure if only 1 would be enough.
I got good ending without Damir. This game's morale system is just stupid. I didn't know that some of the slaves can be freed in the desert world. I had to kill some of those guards and most of them are fucking thugs who deserve to die...
First time I played I lost duke, probably one of the more shocking moments in game because I assumed the moral consequence would come later in the game. But having him stay behind so you could continue on to the train was tough, I was hoping to see him drop right behind me but nope. The crew later was hopeful that duke would come trolling up any day like he always did, asked for adventure and got the worst of it, such an amazing game
I literally beat the game and did it perfectly without even realizing it. When I figured out duke could die, Damir could leave, and Alyosha could get injured after I beat the game I was so thankful that I had good morales through out the game😂
My issue is I didn't pay attention to side quests in the Caspian area so damir left. I thought Duke was going to die anyway, but I thought he lived because I was able to sneak into the room with Silantius
Yep same here :) i was always playing stealth since i was playing at hardest difficulty and only knocked enemies out as it was feature that ive missed a lot in other metro games, i did all right basically and after finishing game ive watched bad ending and it was trully a bad ending, considering that even in last light the bad ending felt good and you felt like a hero
When Full Strenght trophy should pop? Yesterday I saved Alyosha (Duke and Damir were saved also) but I didn't get anything, oh wait there was some strange massage in the end of the Taiga level (error screen) I pressed OK, and started the Dead City level.

I am content with what I got in my first run through. I saved duke (didnt know he could be killed), Damir leaves to help Olga, (again, didnt know he could come) and Alyosha didnt get injured. AND I got the good ending!
I know this is an old comment but i saved duke, damir left to help his people, and then i didn't know who i could and couldn't kill but i tried only to kill people that attacked me(as that seems like the morally right thing to do) and i guess i killed somebody in the Alyosha storyline that mattered(i couldn't tell apart from pirates, bandits, or pioneers very easily but apparently somebody "good" died) and i got the bad ending. What bugs me is that i don't feel like it's morally wrong to defend yourself against people that are attacking YOU. It would be different if you could approach them and have a conversation but they literally just open fire and try to kill you, of course i am going to shoot back and kill them, and for them to call ME a murderer? Stupid.
@@rkhale02 You have to distinquish defending when you are the aggressor invading someones place. If I invade your house and you attack and I kill you I cant just say I was just defending my self. to make it stupid proof you are free to kill bandits and canibals and should not kill anyone who surrenders but I still got away with good ending executing two surrendered bandits.
@@rkhale02 well for Alyosha case the people there warned you not to come into their village, and you did anyways. Basically you’re invading their village, while also shooting at them. It’s like I’m walking inside someone’s house, and shoot them as soon as they pulled a gun
The only one I didn't get was Damir to stay, I honestly thought it made sense for him to fight for his people and stay behind, dropping off the team to start a new life.
In my experience, the main thing that influences the ending are the times where Damir explicitly states during a mission not to kill slaves. There are also two instances of rescuing slaves that I observed outside of story missions, both in cracked ships. One is the ship by the water which anna directs you to. Hit the lever at the end to free those slaves. The other is a cracked ship in a canyon to the northwest of the train, here will be some slaves at ground level you can walk past, on the second level there is a thug beating a slave. Intervene, and this will also help. The tribals at the lighthouse are not as big a deal as far as I can tell.
I didn’t save the last slave cause I didn’t want to blow the mission and cause trouble before meeting the Baron, I think that’s what made him stay in my playthrough.
For anyone seeing this. If you're going for the cult leader in stealth you can break the lock with melee. You don't have to shoot it like he did or jump to the boat
Just so you know, kills don’t matter for duke, I killed everyone when stealing the boat, I killed a few of the church members, and I stealthed through the entire bridge section, with him jumping on the train and joining us, I think you just have to pull off the bridge mission stealthily and you’re good.

On my second playthrough I failed to keep Damir on board, but because I made a quick save shortly after the elevator ride up, I loaded that save and saved two slaves on the way up. That turned out to be just enough to get the achievement and keep Damir with me.
I legitimately didn’t know you could save duke... or that Damir could leave you. Killed most fish worshippers but avoided killing slaves...and sneaked through all the Taiga level...guess it’s time to save Duke!
the only chapter i didn't win the best i could was in taiga, camp where u had to steal boat, i couldn't make it cuz they saw me, and i had to blast them -_-

Fun fact: it’s possible to beat nearly every encounter with just your fists. I did this for all the previous endings on normal, just Kung fu fighting or sneaking around all the time as much as possible, it was both fun and really funny and rewarded me for doing so.

Dumpster_Cat I think you need at least 2 of the 3 to stay/ be in good health to get the good ending. For me Duke died and Damir left but Alyosha wasn’t hurt. I got the bad ending unfortunately
I had just finished the Caspian chapter and damir stayed behind. I was like: "okay, time to revert my save." Guess what? The only save not in the oil rig was at mt. Yamantau....
Lmao, I tried being stealthy, but those aholes saw me through walls, and since they tried killing me, I killed them! Needless to say, I got the bad endings😅
For me, I always felt that keeping the squad as a whole was the right thing to do. Sure people think that Damir should be with his people but they tend to over look 1 thing. He's a medic and he is empathetic and cares deeply for all aboard the Aurora, making sure that everyone receives the medical attention required so i felt that with him staying with the crew would be better then going off to fight for his people. I mean sure Katya is a trained nurse but she can't be on the field all the time outside the train.

Not to be mean. But you are dead wrong about killing. You can stealth kill or shoot in combat any bandit or evil thugs you want. But when one or two surrender knock them out or you will loose a karma point. In volga church i got spotted and killed most of the cultist. 3 of them surrendered, i knocked them out. And about the church,, when i arrived at the bridge, i heard two cultist talk about the fact that i killed the reinforcement at the church but allowed some to surrender and that i did not kill any non-combatant ( even thought thats not possible the women and children are behind closed doors) and they then say that even thought im a heretic i still have some of my humanity left. I also freed cultist in the open world and put my gun down when going up to cultist in the open world wich they liked. I did not kill anyone on the bridge and the leader let us trough peacefuly. I did not kill anyone on the boat, they are just travellig merchants. I killed all bandits in volga( execpt when surrender) duke lived. In the dessert i again killed any bandi i came acrosse( execpt surrender) i did not kill any slave exept one or two when helping out ghul(the hooded asian woman) i did not loose karma for those since they were shooting at me. They are two injured slave fighters on the ground after then fight. I just ignored them and got a karma point when going back down the lighthouse with ghul. I freed all the slaves i could and got ghu Her moms picture. In the last sequence of the dessert. You sneak in trough a sewer gate, theres two section to go trought. The two sections are populated by tribals(thats what subtitles says) they are all slave but, the armed ones are slaves that got promoted and you can see them abuse the lower rank slaves. I did not loose karma for killing the evil slaves(tribals) but just for curiosity i killed a non armed slaved and lost karma so i reloaded a quick save. After when you go in the barons tower. I lowered my weapon, then i saw a thug push a slave into a room to beat him with a pipe. I waited for the thug to go in the room then knocked him out. The slaves thanks you for not killing his master because if his master die, then he would be also killed. Nobody saw me so i just lower my gun again and walk out of the room the thugs are not hostil since they did not see me. I then go up to the whore house part, theres a sex slave being kicked by a dude. I tried punching him but everyone got hostil so i reloaded. I just watched him kick her 4 times, then another slave drags her to the side where she just sits and cry. Its hard to watch but. Ghul told me earlier she had a plan when imentered the tower so i did not want to ruin it so i just let the thug beat the girl. I then walked up to the barons penthouse, he talks to us then tryes to make a deal. One thug offers you thea in a cup while pointing a shotgun at us. Ghul who was hiding nearby heashots the thug. The barons runs in a room and barricads himself. Thugs pours in the room from the stairs you got up. You kill them all and then damir and you open the door. The baron is holding ghul over the edge of the tower. Ghul laughs and says someting. A bunch of explosions goes off. The baron drop ghul down the edge. She grabs the ledge damir pulls he rup. The barron gets on top of you and gets killed by anna. Damir stayed with the crew of the aurora and i heard on the radio on the train after the end of dessert ghul speaking on the radio tell all slaves to come to the barons tower to join the ristance against the slavers. Soory for the long comment. But i just want people to know they dont have to play the game in a non lethal way wich is boring. Just make sure the people you kill are evil. Thanks for reading. I like the nuance in the moral system. I defended myself at the church but showed mercy and that was aknoledge by a dialogue between two cultist. I tough there would only be two different dialogues one where i killed no one and another where im a demon who killed everyone. But awesomely. I got a hybride dialogue.
I couldn't distinguish the "good" slaves from the "evil" ones. I had to kill one or two of them in a war situation, so I assume the tribals were the slaves in arms? And I didn't see any indication that I earned a kharma point.
@@kronos4282 Spare surrendering enemies, release prisoners... When you do that, there will be a flash of light and a sound noticing you got karma points.
So I replayed this chapter like 5x just for the Damir trophy! I finally got the trophy by following the guide. But in the fortress section, I HELPED the two slaves (man force into a room under some steps and a woman with blue streaks on her hair) being held by the bandits! Hope this helped.
For those wondering like i was: Alyosha will still not get wounded if you decide to slaughter the bandits like i did. I'm pretty sure the same is for the pirates but it's hard to tell them a part especially if you play without subtitles.
I didn't realize there was a good/bad ending. I lost duke and Damir left. I am going to start a new game and do it again. I was a savage on my first playthrough killing anything that was hostile. You can kill enemies that are classified as evil such as the bandits and slavers. But slaves, pioneers, pirates, and cult members are knock out only. I will go through a second time because I was shanking cultists left and right and on the desert level I made quite a few mistakes without meaning to.
Damir is touchy AF. You can get around the boyscouts in the forest and the swamp amish easy enough, but get your FOF wrong, and D-boy goes d-bag and leaves.

murmurmur murmur you cant kill anyone when he says try not to kill any slaves since they are apart of them and you cna knock them out but no killing unless you can tell the difference
Ya I did I didn't kill everyone I mostly knock them out because I don't want to waste too much ammo hardcore mode if I have to I would use my gun with the silencer and he still survived
@@HugoStiglitz88 did you save the pioneers from the bandits in that small village area? After clearing the area if bandits you can then free the one captive that's still all I've.
Cool Maniac no you can as much of them as you want you can’t just kill the pioneers, the cultists, the boat crew, and any slaves just knocking them out anything else is fair game
I like how there's no convoluted karma reason for whether Artyom lives or dies at the end. It literally comes down to how many teammates are there to give him blood. If you lose to many teammates along the way, then there isn't enough.
In artyoms diary after damir leaves he writes that he found the love of his love and stayed to help his people, that seems like a pretty happy ending for him.
Hopefully in the next one they indicate better that certain actions can lead to character deaths I didn’t even know my actions would led to duke’s death and all because I was lethal and i got seen in while leaving the church.
bro when they both catch the dang train i was so happy to get the full strength trophy but suddenly screen went all black at says error occurred i just press okay then i wait 5 minutes n realised it was the damn throphy that was error, my soul almost left my body
I'm starting to believe it's impossible to get the good ending on the first run, even if you save all the slaves and knock people out, they still die or leave, it's so annoying that they didn't give you some options instead of having to change your playstyle completely!
I did test some stupid things in there you will like spamming V melee beating, you will gain both good ending and every enemy is down - collect everything just like spamming E in 2 older Metros
Spend so many hours making sure i search every nook and cranny of the volga, Only kill like 2 cultist in the first mission but no one else. Got to the final cult mission and actually overheard dialogue from guards about how i killed a few but seemed to mostly try to avoid killing people and even saved their members. With that i thought i was on the right track. But despite that, I still got the bad ending. Im also hearing how some people killed cultist like crazy but still got the good ending. Maybe the circumstances for the good ending are a bit more specific.
I got the good ending by accident in my first play through. I just killed anything that wanted to kill me and I spared anyone that surrendered, oh and also I did almost all the side quest except on the forest mission with the professor followers. And I got the good ending either way
I did the last part of Volga in complete stealth and when Duke died I was like "nooooo 😢" didn't know he can be saved going to do this on my next play through ☺️
I was replaying the game and found this video in my recommended, decided to watch it and oh wow it's a comment I made three years ago! Lol I did end up finishing the game with a perfect playthrough, just getting the achievements for ranger hardcore and iron mode.
Actaully you can kill the cultists but once they surrender dont kill anymore of them its the same with the guys on the bridge and as for the guys on the boat you can just go full john wick on them
As long as you are not killing civvies or someone who has already surrendered, which makes sense since defending oneself from people out for their blood is one thing while killing defenseless individuals is another matter.
I like how Last light did it, where there are only certain choices you need to make, to get the good/bad ending. I've always played in hardcore/ranger difficulty with the Metro series and I think its actually impossible to achieve the good ending in Exodus with the ranger/ hardcore difficulty, you really need to play on easy
Full Strength trophy will pop up at the end ? I'm asking cause Duke survived, Damir stayed and Alyosha did not get wounded. Now I need to find medicine for Anna.
I don't think think the Alyosha trophy, things you need to do are correct (or the game gave me a loooooot of leeway) because: 1. Killed a bunch of dudes at the Children Camp, 2. Killed some dudes after the bear encounter (when you get trapped in a net) and 3 Definitely killed a loooot of dudes at the boat section, 'cause there is room for one pirate in Taiga, and his name is Artyom. still got the trophy. @@PS4Trophies the boat section is a pirate camp. I killed basically everybody in that camp and still got Alyosha out just fine. It probably only counts pioneer kills (the good guys)
I'm pretty damn sure the "key" to get them to survive it all is to "not" kill the specified faction when you're told by them. For example: 1. Anna asked Artyom not to hurt anybody in the church. 2. Duke wants to race with Artyom without making commotion. 3. Damir asked Artyom not to kill Slaves (not Tribal) 4. Giul asked Artyom not to kill Slaves (not Tribal) 5. Pioneers/Pirates that surrendered asked Artyom not to kill anyone in the camps. Etcs I don't think it matters if you kill them outside those requests.
oh shit, didn't know the slaves were mixed in with the slavers. in the end, Damir chose to stay in my playthrough. Didn't know that til now. Next playthrough I'll be sure to save the slaves and try NOT to hurt the slaves shooting at me. Though...that's gonna be hard.
They're not actually mixed most of the time. They've got different character models. 1. You can see slaves' faces, they don't wear gas masks. They're also quite skinny compared to generic thugs. 2. The guys that look like they came out of a Mad Max movie & who talk shit are in season whenever you're in the Caspian. Just stick a 6x scope on the Tikhar & go to town :)
There are only slave soldiers during the lighthouse attack and when you go through that underground area beneath the barons fortress all those guys are slaves
@@lh5125 There are thugs there too. If you have subtitles on, when they talk among themselves, some are marked "tribal" and some "thug". Also, they even say that Giul is killing them like they're nothing, but not killing the slaves. Eh, it's so easy to just knock everybody out in that mission that it doesn't even matter.
Considering I’ve already saved Duke and have already got the photo and not harmed the slaves yet in caspian and got the photo. I might as well try for this trophy. Is that Taiga in stealth bit hard?
Maybe correction: You don't have to leave everybody alive. Just DO NOT kill the ones that are surrender, and the ones that are not shooting at you. If somebody shoots at you, you can kill it, except at the Children of forest, and the pioneers. I did this on harder difficulty, and i got all the good endings.
My first play through “stealth adivised” me three seconds later BOOM BOOM BOOM FBI OPEN UP but now I’ll have to replay the whole game I only saved alyosha
Killed no slaves Saved the Slave in the water level Saved the slaves on the broken ship (one in the cage and the ones below) Got the picture and gave the canteen to the girl Damir still stayed
@@sametekiz3709 A Lot of people do everything good and their crew member dies, some do everything bad and they live. I think that many have bad luck and the game bugs and decides arbitrary if you have good/Bad ending
I got the good ending the first playthrough (Hardcore Ranger btw) and I killed people in the church, just not those who surrendered. The ending is more based on the moral points you get (blue effect for good, yellow-ish for bad). So meaning you can kill anyone hostile towards you (even hostile slaves), however if they surrender or weren't hostile to begin with you can't kill them or you get bad moral points (knocking them out is neutral, no good or bad points).
@@aleksandrokolodko3592 Not really as need to free the slaves as well. I missed 1 in Oasis and have to restart as Demir leaves. The rest is common sense but you never know with these games considering the first two point system was random.
I’m a little late to the party but after watching this video I thought for sure my duke would not make it. In my play through, I ended up killing 2 or 3 cultists during the initial encounter. I knocked out the rest during my escape. I explored the map and rescued any hostages. I did however massacre the bandits. There was a lot that I knifed figuring that they were exploiting the cultist and after the aurora left they would go back to doing that if I left them alive. I stealthily did the bridge and tug boat mission which weren’t super hard. I’ve noticed that if you listen into their conversations, you can get a good feeling for how your outcome is gonna be. If your being moral about your decisions you can hear them talk about it. My duke ended up making it on the train which was a massive sigh of relief considering how much time I spent exploring. I hope this helps
Hi, I managed to get aloysha and damir to stay but I Duke died in my first playthrough. So I did chapter select and re-did Volga and saved duke, getting the trophy ‘Duke.’ Im wondering if it’s possible to get the ‘full strength trophy.’ Through chapter select or would I have to do a new playthrough?
Does anyone know if this has to be done in one playthrough? Or if you missed one can you go and do it through chapter select, and then continue from the mission you were on and finish the campaign and the achievement will still unlock??
One thing about duke. I myself killed only 4-6 fanatics but knocked out the rest and he was still saved. You just have to be mindful of how many you kill and try not to go overboard.
I just followed the standard doctrine "return fire if fired upon" and it all went well Duke and Alyosha mission. Couldn't keep Damir though as I was not able to free all slaves (the ones in the underground chambers)
Yoel Quevedo i dont know is it only me (because i played both games before expdus a few times ) but the exodus even on a ranger hardcore is easy for me
I keep seeing people say you should just not kill anyone but in my playthrough I killed almost every "bad guy" in each area and still got the good ending. There were many areas in the forest where I just avoided enemies but I killed all the bandits. In Caspian I went out of my way to clear out every single bandit camp lethally. Didn't ko anyone. Just kills on everyone. So maybe the lack of kills in the forest mixed with getting the guitar and freeing slaves and helping non hostile enemies just made me "morality" just high enough to get the good ending 😅
You can actually kill the cultists at the church as long as you don’t kill civilians or people that surrendered. It actually gives some of the guards on the bridge different dialogue.
I just wanna say. The bunker mission in the desert is the most anxiety inducing mission. The amount of spiders would make anyone go crazy

You can kill people in the first 2 parts and not kill in the third you can still keep duke.

I think its like 2033 and there is a karma meter, that or being stealthy in the last part and not taking too long like for duke to die
For the first chapter. You don't really need to not kill the cultists, it's just highly recommended to knock them out. Regardless though, I found that if you just stealth the last mission for the bridge in the first chapter Duke lives. But still, try to knock people out and generally just go for the stealth route in most things.
When you escape the church and encounter the catfish you run into duke and he starts talking to you, at the end he foreshadows how to get the good ending by saying “Hey Artyom isn’t it funny we both have the same blood type?”
He kinda also foreshadows his death when you go to the little area he's staying at in the Volga.
Artyom is a universal receiver, blood type of donors doesn't matter at all

I never knew that the enemies attacking the lighthouse were slaves. I guess what's why I didn't get Damir to stay with me.

The game was really not very obvious about it. So happy I can just TH-cam the good ending, because I had no idea those choices were even happening.
Only some of them are, and they're actually just wounded on the ground from memory. The problem is stealthing through the cave at night can cause you to shoot a wounded tribal on the surface since headlamp=enemy in most cases.
I was kinda sad when meeting the mad captain. He's been alone for so long that he went mad.

The trick is to new game plus it. Beat game on easy but gather a shit load of material
That's simply not true about the not killing anyone. I got the good ending with all of em on the Aurora, killed plenty in Volga, Caspian and Taiga. The key difference is, who you kill, and to help the friendly people in each area. Which means, put your gun away when encountering the cultists in the world, kill the bandits, free the prisoners, BE NICE to the civilians. That way they don't see you as a threat on the bridge cutscene.
In Caspian, get the photo, DON'T kill any of the slaves. That way, it should be possible to get Damir to stay.
In Taiga, there's the good guys and the bad guys, specifically the pioneers and the pirates. Kill the pirates as you like, but leave the pioneers alone. Which means, when you sneak into the pioneer camp, don't kill anyone.
Apart from that, don't kill people that are wounded or surrendering. Knock em out, they won't come back either way.
The thing with the good and bad guys actually applies for every location. Volga: Fanatics are the good guys, believe it or not, bandits are the enemies. Caspian: the baron and his people are and, the slaves are good. Taiga: Pioneers good, Pirates bad.

@@MetaMortis21 I did, but it didn't screw me over. The system is more nuanced than people are giving it credit for. It seems most likely that 2 moral points per section are required, so you can do some 'bad' stuff and still come out ok.

The Metro series is great but the thing is I like multiple endings for the latest game in the series so all this stuff to get the good ending frustrates me so i stop caring after a while. Idk though. I wanna get the game platinum so hopefully the game has a lot of replay value besides the trophies.

I am 100% sure that you can get good ending just with Alyosha and Duke without Damir cause I did finished the game like that but I am not sure if only 1 would be enough.

I got good ending without Damir. This game's morale system is just stupid. I didn't know that some of the slaves can be freed in the desert world. I had to kill some of those guards and most of them are fucking thugs who deserve to die...
First time I played I lost duke, probably one of the more shocking moments in game because I assumed the moral consequence would come later in the game. But having him stay behind so you could continue on to the train was tough, I was hoping to see him drop right behind me but nope. The crew later was hopeful that duke would come trolling up any day like he always did, asked for adventure and got the worst of it, such an amazing game

I literally beat the game and did it perfectly without even realizing it. When I figured out duke could die, Damir could leave, and Alyosha could get injured after I beat the game I was so thankful that I had good morales through out the game😂
My issue is I didn't pay attention to side quests in the Caspian area so damir left. I thought Duke was going to die anyway, but I thought he lived because I was able to sneak into the room with Silantius
Yep same here :) i was always playing stealth since i was playing at hardest difficulty and only knocked enemies out as it was feature that ive missed a lot in other metro games, i did all right basically and after finishing game ive watched bad ending and it was trully a bad ending, considering that even in last light the bad ending felt good and you felt like a hero
When Full Strenght trophy should pop? Yesterday I saved Alyosha (Duke and Damir were saved also) but I didn't get anything, oh wait there was some strange massage in the end of the Taiga level (error screen) I pressed OK, and started the Dead City level.

I am content with what I got in my first run through.
I saved duke (didnt know he could be killed), Damir leaves to help Olga, (again, didnt know he could come) and Alyosha didnt get injured. AND I got the good ending!

I know this is an old comment but i saved duke, damir left to help his people, and then i didn't know who i could and couldn't kill but i tried only to kill people that attacked me(as that seems like the morally right thing to do) and i guess i killed somebody in the Alyosha storyline that mattered(i couldn't tell apart from pirates, bandits, or pioneers very easily but apparently somebody "good" died) and i got the bad ending.
What bugs me is that i don't feel like it's morally wrong to defend yourself against people that are attacking YOU. It would be different if you could approach them and have a conversation but they literally just open fire and try to kill you, of course i am going to shoot back and kill them, and for them to call ME a murderer? Stupid.
@@rkhale02 You have to distinquish defending when you are the aggressor invading someones place. If I invade your house and you attack and I kill you I cant just say I was just defending my self. to make it stupid proof you are free to kill bandits and canibals and should not kill anyone who surrenders but I still got away with good ending executing two surrendered bandits.
@@rkhale02 well for Alyosha case the people there warned you not to come into their village, and you did anyways. Basically you’re invading their village, while also shooting at them. It’s like I’m walking inside someone’s house, and shoot them as soon as they pulled a gun
The only one I didn't get was Damir to stay, I honestly thought it made sense for him to fight for his people and stay behind, dropping off the team to start a new life.

In my experience, the main thing that influences the ending are the times where Damir explicitly states during a mission not to kill slaves. There are also two instances of rescuing slaves that I observed outside of story missions, both in cracked ships. One is the ship by the water which anna directs you to. Hit the lever at the end to free those slaves.
The other is a cracked ship in a canyon to the northwest of the train, here will be some slaves at ground level you can walk past, on the second level there is a thug beating a slave. Intervene, and this will also help.
The tribals at the lighthouse are not as big a deal as far as I can tell.
I didn’t save the last slave cause I didn’t want to blow the mission and cause trouble before meeting the Baron, I think that’s what made him stay in my playthrough.

Just so you know, kills don’t matter for duke, I killed everyone when stealing the boat, I killed a few of the church members, and I stealthed through the entire bridge section, with him jumping on the train and joining us, I think you just have to pull off the bridge mission stealthily and you’re good.

@@Lcky-gu2gi The mutants were not a problem. Head shots put them down with 1 shot, especially with the shotgun.
On my second playthrough I failed to keep Damir on board, but because I made a quick save shortly after the elevator ride up, I loaded that save and saved two slaves on the way up. That turned out to be just enough to get the achievement and keep Damir with me.
I legitimately didn’t know you could save duke... or that Damir could leave you. Killed most fish worshippers but avoided killing slaves...and sneaked through all the Taiga level...guess it’s time to save Duke!

Fun fact: it’s possible to beat nearly every encounter with just your fists. I did this for all the previous endings on normal, just Kung fu fighting or sneaking around all the time as much as possible, it was both fun and really funny and rewarded me for doing so.

Yeah, you only need 2/3 good chapter out comes to get the good ending, but there is a "full strength" achievement for keeping all 3 crew members.

For me, I always felt that keeping the squad as a whole was the right thing to do. Sure people think that Damir should be with his people but they tend to over look 1 thing. He's a medic and he is empathetic and cares deeply for all aboard the Aurora, making sure that everyone receives the medical attention required so i felt that with him staying with the crew would be better then going off to fight for his people. I mean sure Katya is a trained nurse but she can't be on the field all the time outside the train.

Not to be mean. But you are dead wrong about killing. You can stealth kill or shoot in combat any bandit or evil thugs you want. But when one or two surrender knock them out or you will loose a karma point. In volga church i got spotted and killed most of the cultist. 3 of them surrendered, i knocked them out. And about the church,, when i arrived at the bridge, i heard two cultist talk about the fact that i killed the reinforcement at the church but allowed some to surrender and that i did not kill any non-combatant ( even thought thats not possible the women and children are behind closed doors) and they then say that even thought im a heretic i still have some of my humanity left. I also freed cultist in the open world and put my gun down when going up to cultist in the open world wich they liked. I did not kill anyone on the bridge and the leader let us trough peacefuly. I did not kill anyone on the boat, they are just travellig merchants. I killed all bandits in volga( execpt when surrender) duke lived. In the dessert i again killed any bandi i came acrosse( execpt surrender) i did not kill any slave exept one or two when helping out ghul(the hooded asian woman) i did not loose karma for those since they were shooting at me. They are two injured slave fighters on the ground after then fight. I just ignored them and got a karma point when going back down the lighthouse with ghul. I freed all the slaves i could and got ghu
Her moms picture. In the last sequence of the dessert. You sneak in trough a sewer gate, theres two section to go trought. The two sections are populated by tribals(thats what subtitles says) they are all slave but, the armed ones are slaves that got promoted and you can see them abuse the lower rank slaves. I did not loose karma for killing the evil slaves(tribals) but just for curiosity i killed a non armed slaved and lost karma so i reloaded a quick save. After when you go in the barons tower. I lowered my weapon, then i saw a thug push a slave into a room to beat him with a pipe. I waited for the thug to go in the room then knocked him out. The slaves thanks you for not killing his master because if his master die, then he would be also killed. Nobody saw me so i just lower my gun again and walk out of the room the thugs are not hostil since they did not see me. I then go up to the whore house part, theres a sex slave being kicked by a dude. I tried punching him but everyone got hostil so i reloaded. I just watched him kick her 4 times, then another slave drags her to the side where she just sits and cry. Its hard to watch but. Ghul told me earlier she had a plan when imentered the tower so i did not want to ruin it so i just let the thug beat the girl. I then walked up to the barons penthouse, he talks to us then tryes to make a deal. One thug offers you thea in a cup while pointing a shotgun at us. Ghul who was hiding nearby heashots the thug. The barons runs in a room and barricads himself. Thugs pours in the room from the stairs you got up. You kill them all and then damir and you open the door. The baron is holding ghul over the edge of the tower. Ghul laughs and says someting. A bunch of explosions goes off. The baron drop ghul down the edge. She grabs the ledge damir pulls he rup. The barron gets on top of you and gets killed by anna. Damir stayed with the crew of the aurora and i heard on the radio on the train after the end of dessert ghul speaking on the radio tell all slaves to come to the barons tower to join the ristance against the slavers. Soory for the long comment. But i just want people to know they dont have to play the game in a non lethal way wich is boring. Just make sure the people you kill are evil. Thanks for reading. I like the nuance in the moral system. I defended myself at the church but showed mercy and that was aknoledge by a dialogue between two cultist. I tough there would only be two different dialogues one where i killed no one and another where im a demon who killed everyone. But awesomely. I got a hybride dialogue.

I couldn't distinguish the "good" slaves from the "evil" ones. I had to kill one or two of them in a war situation, so I assume the tribals were the slaves in arms? And I didn't see any indication that I earned a kharma point.
@@kronos4282 Spare surrendering enemies, release prisoners... When you do that, there will be a flash of light and a sound noticing you got karma points.

So I replayed this chapter like 5x just for the Damir trophy! I finally got the trophy by following the guide. But in the fortress section, I HELPED the two slaves (man force into a room under some steps and a woman with blue streaks on her hair) being held by the bandits! Hope this helped.
For those wondering like i was: Alyosha will still not get wounded if you decide to slaughter the bandits like i did. I'm pretty sure the same is for the pirates but it's hard to tell them a part especially if you play without subtitles.

I didn't realize there was a good/bad ending. I lost duke and Damir left. I am going to start a new game and do it again. I was a savage on my first playthrough killing anything that was hostile. You can kill enemies that are classified as evil such as the bandits and slavers. But slaves, pioneers, pirates, and cult members are knock out only. I will go through a second time because I was shanking cultists left and right and on the desert level I made quite a few mistakes without meaning to.
Damir is touchy AF. You can get around the boyscouts in the forest and the swamp amish easy enough, but get your FOF wrong, and D-boy goes d-bag and leaves.

Bandits are free game just dont kill anyone on the forest level dont kill slaves and dont kill any of the religious people
I like how there's no convoluted karma reason for whether Artyom lives or dies at the end.
It literally comes down to how many teammates are there to give him blood. If you lose to many teammates along the way, then there isn't enough.

In artyoms diary after damir leaves he writes that he found the love of his love and stayed to help his people, that seems like a pretty happy ending for him.
Hopefully in the next one they indicate better that certain actions can lead to character deaths I didn’t even know my actions would led to duke’s death and all because I was lethal and i got seen in while leaving the church.

I'm starting to believe it's impossible to get the good ending on the first run, even if you save all the slaves and knock people out, they still die or leave, it's so annoying that they didn't give you some options instead of having to change your playstyle completely!

I killed a ton of people and duke jumped to the train, i accepted surrenders.
I finally did get the achievement yesterday. And when I did, it said less than 4% of players had completed it.
Spend so many hours making sure i search every nook and cranny of the volga, Only kill like 2 cultist in the first mission but no one else.
Got to the final cult mission and actually overheard dialogue from guards about how i killed a few but seemed to mostly try to avoid killing people and even saved their members.
With that i thought i was on the right track. But despite that, I still got the bad ending.
Im also hearing how some people killed cultist like crazy but still got the good ending. Maybe the circumstances for the good ending are a bit more specific.
I got the good ending by accident in my first play through. I just killed anything that wanted to kill me and I spared anyone that surrendered, oh and also I did almost all the side quest except on the forest mission with the professor followers. And I got the good ending either way
I did the last part of Volga in complete stealth and when Duke died I was like "nooooo 😢" didn't know he can be saved going to do this on my next play through ☺️
I was replaying the game and found this video in my recommended, decided to watch it and oh wow it's a comment I made three years ago! Lol I did end up finishing the game with a perfect playthrough, just getting the achievements for ranger hardcore and iron mode.
I'm currently replaying the Caspian level cause Damir stayed to help Giul, so this time I hope he can join the crew in the end...
Actaully you can kill the cultists but once they surrender dont kill anymore of them its the same with the guys on the bridge and as for the guys on the boat you can just go full john wick on them

I just played it. You can kill everyone at the church but the people who surrender.
As long as you are not killing civvies or someone who has already surrendered, which makes sense since defending oneself from people out for their blood is one thing while killing defenseless individuals is another matter.
I like how Last light did it, where there are only certain choices you need to make, to get the good/bad ending. I've always played in hardcore/ranger difficulty with the Metro series and I think its actually impossible to achieve the good ending in Exodus with the ranger/ hardcore difficulty, you really need to play on easy
The house in the forest with gas in the basement toward the beginning gives back your night vision

I don't think think the Alyosha trophy, things you need to do are correct (or the game gave me a loooooot of leeway) because:
1. Killed a bunch of dudes at the Children Camp,
2. Killed some dudes after the bear encounter (when you get trapped in a net) and

@@PS4Trophies the boat section is a pirate camp. I killed basically everybody in that camp and still got Alyosha out just fine. It probably only counts pioneer kills (the good guys)
@@cheytacsnipes I wish I knew that when I was there. I got spotted and died plenty of times trying to knock out enough of them to survive.

I'm pretty damn sure the "key" to get them to survive it all is to "not" kill the specified faction when you're told by them. For example:
1. Anna asked Artyom not to hurt anybody in the church.
2. Duke wants to race with Artyom without making commotion.
3. Damir asked Artyom not to kill Slaves (not Tribal)
4. Giul asked Artyom not to kill Slaves (not Tribal)
5. Pioneers/Pirates that surrendered asked Artyom not to kill anyone in the camps.
Etcs
I don't think it matters if you kill them outside those requests.
I fully stealthes the Damir missions but he still stayed to fight… but in reality that fits well with the story as it’s his people too
oh shit, didn't know the slaves were mixed in with the slavers.
in the end, Damir chose to stay in my playthrough. Didn't know that til now.
Next playthrough I'll be sure to save the slaves and try NOT to hurt the slaves shooting at me. Though...that's gonna be hard.
They're not actually mixed most of the time. They've got different character models. 1. You can see slaves' faces, they don't wear gas masks. They're also quite skinny compared to generic thugs. 2. The guys that look like they came out of a Mad Max movie & who talk shit are in season whenever you're in the Caspian. Just stick a 6x scope on the Tikhar & go to town :)
There are only slave soldiers during the lighthouse attack and when you go through that underground area beneath the barons fortress all those guys are slaves
@@lh5125 There are thugs there too. If you have subtitles on, when they talk among themselves, some are marked "tribal" and some "thug". Also, they even say that Giul is killing them like they're nothing, but not killing the slaves.
Eh, it's so easy to just knock everybody out in that mission that it doesn't even matter.

Considering I’ve already saved Duke and have already got the photo and not harmed the slaves yet in caspian and got the photo. I might as well try for this trophy. Is that Taiga in stealth bit hard?

Near the end it can become a pain cause it's so tight. I couldn't find a bed either so I had to hoof it.

Maybe correction:
You don't have to leave everybody alive. Just DO NOT kill the ones that are surrender, and the ones that are not shooting at you. If somebody shoots at you, you can kill it, except at the Children of forest, and the pioneers. I did this on harder difficulty, and i got all the good endings.
My first play through “stealth adivised” me three seconds later BOOM BOOM BOOM FBI OPEN UP but now I’ll have to replay the whole game I only saved alyosha

If I'm reading this correctly you missed a shipwreck. There's two but you're only told about one.
You missed a shipwreck, the oasis, and you missed the two slaves being abused in the final sequence. Gotta save both of them.

@@sametekiz3709 A Lot of people do everything good and their crew member dies, some do everything bad and they live. I think that many have bad luck and the game bugs and decides arbitrary if you have good/Bad ending
I got the good ending the first playthrough (Hardcore Ranger btw) and I killed people in the church, just not those who surrendered. The ending is more based on the moral points you get (blue effect for good, yellow-ish for bad). So meaning you can kill anyone hostile towards you (even hostile slaves), however if they surrender or weren't hostile to begin with you can't kill them or you get bad moral points (knocking them out is neutral, no good or bad points).
I saved all of them and I didn’t even realize that they were able to die I was just playing the game 😅

I saved all of them and it was not a challenge at all just a common sence. Kill/knock out only bandits do side quests - done.
@@aleksandrokolodko3592 Not really as need to free the slaves as well. I missed 1 in Oasis and have to restart as Demir leaves. The rest is common sense but you never know with these games considering the first two point system was random.
I’m a little late to the party but after watching this video I thought for sure my duke would not make it. In my play through, I ended up killing 2 or 3 cultists during the initial encounter. I knocked out the rest during my escape. I explored the map and rescued any hostages. I did however massacre the bandits. There was a lot that I knifed figuring that they were exploiting the cultist and after the aurora left they would go back to doing that if I left them alive. I stealthily did the bridge and tug boat mission which weren’t super hard. I’ve noticed that if you listen into their conversations, you can get a good feeling for how your outcome is gonna be. If your being moral about your decisions you can hear them talk about it. My duke ended up making it on the train which was a massive sigh of relief considering how much time I spent exploring. I hope this helps
No wonder I didn't get a "passive" ending, I killed everyone that tried to kill me, but I still freed/spared every slave I found.

Hi, I managed to get aloysha and damir to stay but I Duke died in my first playthrough. So I did chapter select and re-did Volga and saved duke, getting the trophy ‘Duke.’ Im wondering if it’s possible to get the ‘full strength trophy.’ Through chapter select or would I have to do a new playthrough?
Does anyone know if this has to be done in one playthrough? Or if you missed one can you go and do it through chapter select, and then continue from the mission you were on and finish the campaign and the achievement will still unlock??

I got duke and alyosha, went back to caspian and got damir. Alyosha is easy to keep so that won’t be an issue, just if I get the trophy

One thing about duke. I myself killed only 4-6 fanatics but knocked out the rest and he was still saved. You just have to be mindful of how many you kill and try not to go overboard.
I just followed the standard doctrine "return fire if fired upon" and it all went well Duke and Alyosha mission. Couldn't keep Damir though as I was not able to free all slaves (the ones in the underground chambers)

Yoel Quevedo i dont know is it only me (because i played both games before expdus a few times ) but the exodus even on a ranger hardcore is easy for me
I did all this is my first play through on pc, didn’t realize I was doing anything special
I keep seeing people say you should just not kill anyone but in my playthrough I killed almost every "bad guy" in each area and still got the good ending. There were many areas in the forest where I just avoided enemies but I killed all the bandits.
In Caspian I went out of my way to clear out every single bandit camp lethally. Didn't ko anyone. Just kills on everyone. So maybe the lack of kills in the forest mixed with getting the guitar and freeing slaves and helping non hostile enemies just made me "morality" just high enough to get the good ending 😅
You can actually kill the cultists at the church as long as you don’t kill civilians or people that surrendered. It actually gives some of the guards on the bridge different dialogue.
