Thanks Joey, I have been watching your videos for a long time. I had a jebaco pump that i was using for your 5-gallon bucket video. I eventually switched to a used fx6 for that tank. I am changing filtration in my community 40 breeder and added a 20 tall tank as a sump that i had lying around. the drilling was so easy after watching this i even did it with fish inside drained to 25 percent. I added 2 3/4 bulkheads staggered one higher than the other and it worked absolutely perfectly, so much that i added my hang on back filter as a redundant filter.
Bad ass Joey making it look easy!! I'm too chicken to even try. I just now have the confidence to re-seal a tank. It's nice to know if I really needed to these videos are here to refer back to.
I’ve drilled a few tanks before after watching your vids. This was a great video. Instead of you saying you’ve done videos before and actually doing a new one is great. Your last acrylic tank video has some different info then what you had in the other ones and inspired me to get back to work on my 500 gallon acrylic tank.
Another tip if you're on your own is to get a plastic water bottle and put a pin hole near the bottom, fill with water to cool the hole saw and adjust the water flow by tightening or loosening the cap, set it up near the hole on a bucket or whatever you have at hand, works a treat!!
What’s the smallest tank size (thinnest glass) you can drill effectively. I’ve cracked 10g tanks damn near every time. Don’t know if it’s worth trying on my 20s.
Thanks Joey,

Thats precise instructions
A piece of soaked spong in the core bit works well!
Do you have to worry about the glass dust getting into the system? Will the tiny glass particles hurt the fish?
Probably not even thinking about it
@@krabrangoonies1071 Its harmless. it doesn't get in the tank, but if it did... its so little that you dont see it. Plus.... its basically fine sand.
No. it wont do anything.
Glass dust would be very similar to sand and sand doesn't necessarily harm the fish,i believe it would be a different case if there were glass shards
Glass dust is otherwise known as ‘sand’
Great tutorial video joey! I definitely aint that confident at doong that mate. Leave it up to the experts lol. Thanks for sharing mate 😊
i just got a tank yesterday and need to do this. perfect timing
nice!
Very smart Joey ❤😂

My
"Great video! At the beginning, you said you have an automatic water change system. Where can I learn about it?"
0:24 I call this black plastic bit a through haul fitting, but the job is the same 👌
Respect the dewalt choice
3:12 talk about no pressure Joey
No pressure at all, if yea pust to hard, that might shatter the tank, no pressure 🤣
trigger fish please day number 2 of asking :D sorry if i havent been here every video i do my best to support the channel :)
Man this scares me 😃😆
@Nathan Gregory EXACTLY
Was thinking doing this on a 40 gallon breeder. For a rear overflow.
Will this cause weakness ?
Want to drill rear top center or top corner.
Joey has drilled hundreds of holes 😁
was checking the comment for this one.
Joey , breed the oscar they are so big and colourful.
Is there any concern of glass particles getting into the water system?
Not really man it’s literally sand
Is there a way to tell if the tank is tempered glass
someone watching this is going to drill tempered glass. Its going to be glorious.
I was under the impression that most big box stores aquariums where tempered or is that this the bottom pane?
I’m thinking of drilling my 75 gallon how can I tell if it’s a tempered glass or bot
If I remember correctly, you can get some polarized film or polarized sun glasses and you could see a wavy pattern on the glass.
Ditto above.
Look at it with polarized sunglasses if it tempered glass you will see lines.
Thanks guys

any thickness is fine. Thin glass will crack with too much pressure, speed or not enough water.
@@thekingofdiy i appreciate you my friend
Türkiye alt yazı eklermisiniz lütfen 🙏🇹🇷
Me thinking oh wow that’s easy maybe I should install a easy drain valve *“do not drill tempered glass”* oh nvm then lol
90% of the people who try this after watching this video probably will break their tank 😂
Can i drill in to a 10 gallon tank or the glass is to thin?
it is likely tempered. Most 10Gs are.
@@thekingofdiy so 20 gallon is good to be drill ?
That tank glass is like an inch think
wow...I thought that the glass will break because of water pressure
Hey ❤
Be brave do not drill your aquariums. Do not use any filters. Just substrate, plants light and water changes.
For a lot of us filters and such are a big part of the hobby.
20+ years experience in core drilling natural stone. Check this out Diarex® coring suction rings. They work great.
How would they work on a vertical surface?
