    It's a rare delight to hear the late Don Messick's voice in Cartoon Network promos.

    LOL at the testimonials for Dexters Lab.
    "Great animation."
    But, the show was awesome.

    "I like the cartoon because it's about a scientist who likes science" YOU DON'T SAY. I remember calling the CN question thing with my brother to tell them why we loved Dexters Lab, My brother said "I like Dexters lab because it's funny and because my sister can be like Dee Dee sometimes" and they said "that's great! Thank you for calling Cartoon Network!..." Shame they didn't choose my brothers :P. It's cool finding these vids, thanks for uploading!

    I remember watching Toon Heads with my grandfather. I think there was also this program block that aired cartoons from Canada, but I can't remember what it was called.

    Yup, its the first-ever episode of "Dexter's Laboratory"; the pilot episode, "Changes".

  • @uptowndanram6753
    @uptowndanram6753  15 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Yup, all three series, along with "Cow & Chicken", "Courage The Cowardly Dog" and "Mike, Lu & Og" began as shorts for the "World Premiere Toon" (later known as "What A Cartoon!") project. Their pilot episodes were deemed good enough to get their own series years later.

    Back in the 90's my cable company had a channel called Sampler Channel and they would sampler new channels like Cartoon Network. My cable company sent letters to customers and they would vote which cable channels they would like my cable add to there cable channel lineup and everyone voted for Cartoon Network

  • @TheRandomm4
    @TheRandomm4 14 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    So they used to call it THE Cartoon Network. All this must have happened about 2 years before my family got cable. Good old cable gave me some great experiences and caused a lot problems for me. Anyways it is really creepy on how the logo on 2:32 would become the network's future logo 9 years later.

  • @trapadoored
    @trapadoored 15 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I can't get over that "Drak" thing, at this point you would think they would've known his name was Brak.
    But I suppose this may have been pre-cartoon planet.
    Actually if this was just when they were debuting the Ramones/Bobcat episode that was before Brak's name was ever said on the show.
    He appeared with Sisto doing the Beavis and Butthead joke in spanish translation but he didn't first say "all hail brak!" untill the "Jerk" epsisode.

    well didnt CN use to listen to their fans back then.i sure they did.but uhm....i went to the HQ in late july and i talked to the executives and they liked my idea about bringing back some older programming and keeping the good new shows and mix them into the line-up.but honestly i think if they had more old shows they would bring in ratings also.

  • @trapadoored
    @trapadoored 15 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    yes-although for the life of me it sounds like he says "Drak" instead of Brak.
    I know his name has always been Brak but maybe George Lowe just said it wrong and they didn't think it mattered to fix it.
    Was the first appearence of Andy as Brak in the Xmas special-? Or the "World prememiere Toon-in" ?
    Or was it the "Jerk Episode:?

    Scooby-Doo clones were Hanna-Barbera's bread-and-butter during the early-to-mid 1970's. I.E Josie & The Pussycats, Funky Phantom, Speed Buggy......of course the main stars (shark, talking dune buggy) were different, but the rest of the cast followed the Fred, Daphne, & Shaggy archetypes.

    @DracoAzule Yeah, same show, "Space Ghost: Coast 2 Coast", which predates AS by 7+ years (it premiered in 1994). I doubt the newer episodes and re-runs aired on AS were edited, as the show was TV-PG material at best, then and now.

    The "classics" are NOT coming back to Cartoon Network. The purpose of all of my videos is to remind everyone of what CN used to be like and to reminisce on it, not attempt to bring back the classics, which is not only unrealistic but a financial disaster, and current-day CN isn't doing so good to begin with. The "classics" had their place and time, they ran their course, and they will NOT bring CN money, which is the main motivator. Try Boomerang, CN's sister station. That's your best bet.

    Yeah, these recordings predate "Cartoon Planet".
    But Brak has had the same name since the original 1960's "Space Ghost" series. I'm assuming you're talking about the "Extreme Close-Up" interstitial ("Take that, Brak!") right?

    All of the old shows are already en route to Boomerang (which isn't dead yet). Dexter, Johnny Bravo, Cow & Chicken, and recently PPG have made the jump. The only old shows still on regular CN are EE&E and Courage, because for some reason they bring in ratings. They may show marathons of older shows on the revived "Super Chunk", but that's about it. As for the bumpers, that's completely up to their creative department. I'm just trying to save you guys the grief:CN don't listen to fans.

    • @javianwilliams7463

    @JEFFERoW2 It's like we saw the future...and none of the shows could compare to the past. It's like a childhood we want back...but then, we see Regular Show, and start enjoying it way more.

    Hi, I'm trying to get started on this book idea. It's kind of a tribute and combination of noir, nolstalgia, changing times, TV characters, and some personal themes (kind of like Who Framed Roger Rabbit?). It would feature the landscape of Cartoon Network (promos, TV shows, blocks, channels related, like Toonami or Mr. Spim's Cartoon Theatre) as a part of the world described through nearby people (a detective, Joe from Eat at Joe's, a neighbor of Dexter). So, would anyone here actually read it?

    i'm just saying they can bring at least some old programming back not all of it.and yeah they should come out with better cartoons and try to do the cartoon cartoon era (1999-2003) all over again.and they should make new bumpers resembling to the older ones.but you dont think at least 4 old shows can comeback on the air.and btw boomerang is ending soon.
