Really because I'm actually disappointed in mine because I noticed that the Kindle does not put everything that's in the physical copy of the buck show the bare minimum of what you need to read but they lacked things that actually happened in the book I'm noticing that when I'm reading Harry Potter

I've had my Kindle Paperwhite for almost a year now and I think it's the best item I've ever owned in my entire life. I used to struggle a lot trying to find a comfortable position to read a physical book while lying down on my bed but with Kindle, it just makes reading in bed such a pleasure and it's hassle-free.

I admit it's cool to be able to have a book electronically but I'm noticing one flaw it literally skips over certain parts in novels I have the Oasis I'm reading Harry Potter conveniently skipped over anything to do with the uncle in the novel I remember there being a point where there were people that the uncle noticed none of that was in the Kindle version it's not important but at the same time it's disappointing because he want every detail of the physical copy

Collecting and reading are two different things. When i buy a book and I am really interested in it ill buy it twice, one for the shelf and one to read (the kindle version) I can only ready on my kindle these days, reading in bed with the light off is just far too good.

I used to buy and read physical books. I had already tried to read through my phone and tablets but it seems that these are not really into me. Recently I had been diagnosed with scoliosis so I am not allowed to carry heavy things like hardback editions. So I gave an ereader a try and to my surprise, I had quite enjoyed it. Now I can read in the dark unlike using tablets that sometimes strain my eyes. I am very much delighted to took a shot on trying to use ereader.

The people who don't have a kindle or Kindle app on eg ipad mini are the ones that labour the 1 point about the physical book, which I agree but in every other way the kindle is better. If you have bad eyesight you can zoom on a kindle, you don't crease or dog ear your books, you can highlight and make notes in a kindle (I hate writing in physical books because I'm precious like that), you can also read the book and switch to audio (great when English not 1st language or just tired), you can see what paragraphs were popular highlights, you can book mark, copy and paste text to share, you can carry around hundreds of books with you on subjects you're interested in instead of lugging around heavy books or just 1 or 2, just soooo many advantages and this is to name just a few....

I have the Kindle Basic and it really looks good. You really can´t tell the difference in the text. I have seen several reviews that stated there really isn´t much of a difference. I would still recommend the basic model if people don´t need waterproofing. I totally agree with you about the ease that kindles make in reading. Definitely worth the investment.

I love paper books but I also am now a dedicated e reader because I’m trying to be much more conscious about the amount of paper I use. I read anywhere from 4-6 books a month and that’s just a whole lot of paper for books that I will probably never read again. Also, I find that I’m much more likely to use my local library when I use my kindle than driving over there to pick up physical copies. Although, I think this is an option currently available only in the U.S.

That's great to hear! I definitely agree that if you are an avid reader then a kindle is a more sustainable option! I will have to look into borrowing from libraries in the UK, sounds like such a great idea though 😁

One of the things you seldom hear people talk about is not having to do the ridiculous propping open of a book with bits of cutlery to read while eating. It just lies flat.
    - built in light
    - built in dictionary
    - can take notes without 'defacing' the book
    - stays the same weight even when you're reading War and Peace
    - carries a library of thousands of books when you're travelling
    - books can be acquired the instant you want to read them
    - tens of thousands of books are free
I don't begrudge people their wood-pulp books. But the 'smell and feel' of paperbacks (that were scorned by serious book collectors even 30 years ago) is not the killer feature that beats all of the above for me.

I've gotten to where I almost can't read a dead tree book anymore, when I try I am looking for my backlight, or touching on words looking for the dictionary... :D But just keep an eye out when you buy books, the publishers are taking advantage of the Kindle movement and sometimes the Kindle version is the most expensive version of a book!

Solid comparison and reasoning to a decision for the Paperwhite. This helped more than you can know. Just thought, pity they got rid of the brilliant 300ppi Voyage. I still need a book fix now and then in a real bookshop or library. It takes at least an hour of browsing, smelling, touching and caressing real books and then I'm able to go back to my e-reader all blissed out.

Hi! Unfortunately I don't think you can. From the best of my knowledge you can either read on the kindle or listen on the kindle (for this you would need to purchase the audio version of the book and connect to a speaker via bluetooth). There may be a way to read and listen simultaneously on the kindle app, although I am not too sure! ☺️

Be careful! There are books that are unavailable as e-books. I found several of my favorites either as buggy, low-quality e-books from "Amazon Classics" or unavailable altogether. Try finding books by D.H.Lawrence, Jun'ichiro Tanizaki, Yukio Mishima, and Francoise Sagan in English - you won't! Also, this is definitely not applicable for oversized art and photography books, which will either need to be viewed on a hi-res color screen or be owned physically. Lastly, you have to be careful with proprietary formats all these e-readers use, of which Amazon's is infamous for. Digital e-books should be easy to transfer from device to device, but they are not! This is anti-consumer and keeps a monopoly going.
And I say this as someone who owns several e-readers (Kindle, Kobo, Nook, Boox): An e-reader is supplemental to someone who is an avid reader. It does save space, it is environmentally-friendly, it has a screen that will prevent eye-strain, and it is very convenient in its ability to carry a lot of books within its internal memory. I am glad the Kindle Paperwhite suits your needs.

    • @simplysimonaa
      @simplysimonaa  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

You make some very good points! While there are obvious advantages of an e-reader, it cannot replace all physical books! 😃
