You have to admire the way he communicated; it wasn't childish, just completely wide-open, without an ounce of self-consciousness; that, in itself, was art.
Rob Braxton he was self conscious, there are plenty a sore question basquiat is ast that he withholds answers about. If anything he's super aware of himself.
It's a shame he's gone. He seemed a bit innocent in a way and quiet...sort of childlike in a way. He was also so handsome and apparently a creative genius. Catnip for some.
Nice looking guy...... and very talented I must say. He was way ahead of his time of what he talked about in terms of the media and how they treat celebs. It's a reason he didn't live on to actually see these times as it is worse today. I feel like there isn't enough of him on the internet, his legacy needs to be expanded alot more
you realise its paradoxal to say you agree with him to want to protect his privacy and in the same breath want more media of him to be found on the internet? Not a jab, just found it funny 😅🤔
I read up on basquiat heritage. And I found out he is a Haitian American and thing that clicked to me that the fact that Haiti, despite its extreme poverty and issues are a nation of artists. I traveled to Haiti to help after the earthquake. And what I gazed upon was art and artist. The country is saturated with beautiful minds and people. Sculptures, painters, musicians, dancers. It wes very overwhelming. And they all knew they wouldn't be compensated a dime for their genius. So finding out basquiat was Haitian didnt surprise me. It's in his cognitive genes.
The people of Haiti have a very strong sense of identity and pride if you look at the background of Haiti it was the only black lead country where slaves were able to fight back and claim their independence in the Western world and I believe even though the country has a lot of poverty that the essence of pride because of the fact that they were independent carries through in their spirit. There are some fantastic documentaries on Haiti right on TH-cam. Part of the reason they were able to overthrow the colonist was because of the blacks that were brought to Haiti to be enslaved were soldiers So they were very powerful and they understood strategic warfare and that’s why they were able to and were the only slave revolt that actually was successful
I visited his grave on his bday two weeks ago. I also stayed in an apartment on the same street of the apartment he died in. A surreal experience. I went to NY to visit his grave, I didn't realize that the apartment I booked was on the same street until later.

He seems like he felt A lot (a lot of crazy things happened to him and I personally would be heartbroken about life and a broken soul) and so I think his solution was releasing it in his art and music and self-medication (cocaine and weed etc.). People love tragic sad artists and I think the money and fame must have left him feeling exploited. It's a sad situation.

@kyfaydfsoab the only thing they all have in common, well someone like juice wrld, not so much kid cudi or jay-z (probably because they aren't as bold as basquiat or juice wlrd were) is that they were assassinated as a consequence of their influence.

I love him but idk nobody else found the whole interview a little creepy? like why would he whisper that like he was hiding? and why was so like...he answered the questions but it slick looked like he was trying to hide any emotions he felt and slick like he was scared. Hard to tell but I really felt that from watching this and I've watched it alot.
He was hurt and sad and quite broken by the art critics - he didnt want to let it be fully shown how much he hated them or rather how destroyed he felt by them. This interview is probably the most telling of all footage of him. It really shows what led way to his unfortunate passing - when one traces things back.
