It’s a great concept as there are many resellers that don’t have the ability to thrift near them or would rather spend time listing more. But the price is a bit steep for clothing at least, especially if some of it will be damaged or flawed. Thank you for sharing! Do enjoy seeing the wholesale side of the business.
Always trying to work on pricing. It’s a tough model on thin margins, especislly after freight and the time/labor of sorting, then picking/shipping. Will keep trying to make the math work!
The last box you opened was the best one-I don’t think there were any flaws. Personally, I don’t want to mess with flawed items or things that need to be fixed 🤷🏻♀️ Thanks for the video!
I agree. Especially on $8 COG per item, seems pretty steep for basic tees and too many flawed items. I'd prefer to hand pick my items paying that amount.
It's a good way to get products un your store. I wouldn't do it all the time as I feel there are too many flaws. I would buy a box or two every couple of months I think.
I'd like to hear more details about pricing and profit. When I look at their website the prices seem high. Did I miss if you said how much you paid for how many items? Good option but I will tread lightly. Thanks for the info!
Based on my reselling experience on Posh & EBay, I feel like a lot of that stuff would just sit. I find that basics that don’t have high demand labels just don’t move, even when priced low.
I went to their site but the shoes are out of stock. I was hoping to try the box before becoming a member. I live in upstate NY with 1 thrift store. So this is a wonderful option for me!
Thanks for the video. For me I wouldn’t purchase from them with all that J Crew Factory and flaws. Too much effort to put into listing with low str and what they would sell for. Would be curious what your experience is with the items you do list and all 😊
I would definitely purchase the last box. I really liked the variety of clothing and HBA products. I also liked that the clothing didn't appear to have flaws. I really love selling shoes and would be interested in maybe a brand list. So I know what brands I could potentially get in a box. That always helps in the decision-making process. I would also be interested in buying a jewelry box. It's something I've been thinking about adding to my reselling business. 🦋
I was looking at their site, and it does seem like the stuff that could sell for good money is picked out and sold at a markup for resellers. The slim margins won't work for resellers. The boxes you got were good, but the last box was the best. However, they know you were going to broadcast their site, so they may have given you the very best they have for the boxes they sell. In my opinion, do not take out the gems. Leave them in the boxes with the other things. Make the boxes pretty fair and give people that sense of "oh i got something good to sell from this box". I feel the boxes they have is just inventory for a store to make a few bucks. I did not see whything really that will give like a 20 dollar profit or more. It would be interesting to see the final sales price these will go for on your what sold videos. Thank becky for providing us with these reviews and your honest feedback. They are not a bad company at all, but i do think they could make it a bit more inticing for resellers to buy.
when I saw the first video, the first question I wondered was: They're also resellers themselves, why not just resell these items themselves? Everyone in the comments are pointing out these boxes are too many flaws. especially the huge stain at 7:51 So they had to have gone through all this inventory before they put these boxes together. they're a larger company and clearly have the ability to "thrift in bulk" buying directly from places like JC Penny So it has to be whatever was liquidated to them. They sifted out what was decent because they have just as much experience if not more, to spot the good stuff. and now they need a way to liquidate all the remaining items originally liquidated to them. So, on paper, their roadmap to 3K/mo is based on net profit but is still misleading because it doesn't account for the loss of potency in goods rolled over that didn't sell month to month. But it seems attractive because its a way to streamline sourcing, which saves resellers a lot of time. but I think everyone in the comments loves the concept but its also very clear that the BOLO portion of this business model cannot be outsourced. I like your channel because I think all your videos are super honest and transparent.
I think your observations are super fair and extremely helpful for them as they try to position themselves as a viable resource to the reseller community. And thank you for your kind words regarding my channel - I try!
Love this! Okay just a few things! First, we do continue to resell, but we buy far too much to list ourselves. We are trying to scale listers, but you can buy a semi load of 48 pallets every single day….IF you can turn the volume. It’s hard to do this listing. So one idea is to list some of it and move the rest. The only box we actually sorted was the last box. These jcrew boxes were exactly as we bought them. The bags are unopened / sealed. If we open them it allows us to inspect, but takes time. Those we open, we don’t rebag due to the waste. We’re finding that it’s worth it to buy new. Too much labor cost in sorting returns. We’d love to pass on that savings to the reseller, but id most only want new then we’ll need to axe returns. Holler with more questions!
@@beckyparkco I hope you don't mind but I plan to drop a video about Reseller Supply Co. their website and my thoughts on their roadmap to 3K. Since you are very honest I'll show the same courtesy, I'm very critical of the reseller business model. I think you're all good hard-working people just trying to put in honest work. I think the business model is flawed because there are too many aspects of it that are bottlenecked or throttled. So while reselling does sometimes turn a profit, I just don't see it scaling at a pace that most traditional models would scale at. but again, love your channel because you truly reveal everything. I've seen about a dozen of your vids.
Yep, I have video updates going out to all who have already purchased. We will make 100% of every purchase right. And we’re already ahead of the game a bit! Thank you!!
I like same sku bundles with a mix of sizes (if clothing). I dont have a ton of time to photograph and list items so those types of bundles are much more helpful ☺️
I would buy different items like box 3. I went to the website and looked at some of the bundles interesting for sure. Thanks again for sharing your time and knowledge with us.
Well after trying pretty much EVERY type of liquidation/wholesale/mystery boxes (20 years reselling) What I'd love to see from a company is NO FLAWS - do not make me have to go through the hassle of contacting and returning items - we don't have the time! Also prices have to be lower, not sure if you mentioned shipping cost, but when a company says "only $X.XX per piece" but they're not including in that price what the crazy high shipping amount, it's deceiving... Since the clothing was all basic (aka saturated) items/brands I'd be most interested in the last box (as long as cosmetics aren't expired)
I'v gotten burned a few times by liquidation companies in my past 5 years of reselling, by receiving items that are saturated on the market/ flawed or that do Not have high demand. So I decided early on in my reselling journey that ''buying blind'' is too risky and not the right thing to do for my business. Now that reselling is very competitive and there's a lot of saturated items in the clothing category, I would be even more careful in where to invest money for sourcing.... Thanks for sharing 👍🏽☺️
Loved this video! I’m especially interested in the jeans from the last box. Are those available in one of their boxes and do they come with flaws? I didn’t see any flaws in the box you had Becky but just curious if they make these jeans available as new without flaws. Thank you!!
I LOVE J Crew but l like to buy when they have 80% off on their clearance sale! 💕❤️❤️💓 However, as of this year we buy clothes 2nd hand. So finding J Crew in the wild is amazing! But not very often. 🤓
Have you tried consignment stores? I find SO MUCH J. Crew at consignment stores, and even those stores will run clearance sales! but yes - I used to shop J. Crew Factory's crazy sales too :)
I would totally sell the cosmetics. I sell clothing and shoes right now. If there was a way to pick out a higher end box with items that retailed higher (no tee shirts, button ups) I’d be interested in the clothing boxes from them. Seems like a great company with great people.
This is a suggestion for Kyle…you should offer cutter/upcycler boxes filled with damaged soft goods items. For quilters you could offer damaged 100%cotton men’s shirts for upcycling. I go to a place in St Louis MO where you can buy clothing for $3 per pound. Presorted bins of items: linens, jeans, tees, etc.
I'm not really liking the membership price of $49 a month or $348 per year membership. So if your not a member then you are stuck with flawed items. I do like selling JCrew and pick it up when I can. I think the company could make some tweeks and move the items they have stored.
For sure - I don't think ANYTHING is set in stone - they are just starting, trying out new ideas, and I think feedback like yours will be super valuable for them.
There were quite a few flaws, especially, somehow, in the box of items I picked out myself lol. They've thought about it from a membership perspective, but not everyone wants to be a member, in which case, those flaws would be really tough to swallow.
Yep! The solution here is straightforward. Biggest thing is that we prolly won’t ever buy returns again. We have to spend 3-4x to get new stuff, but that’s perhaps well worth it. For these current returns, there’s no risk for members. Membership isn’t for eveeyone tho which I get. For us, members allow us to form tight knit connections with about 30-50 people. Beyond that we won’t accept members as we can only take those we can serve well
My first box was already sealed, and the second box I put together myself. I know the last box was made with me in mind, but I still think it's very representative of what other boxes will look like.
Yep to all Becky said! The box I made for her is what we consider our bread and butter. Dept store brands, nothing too designer and nothing boutique. These comments are actually great news because we can make hundreds per month of the custom box everyone seems to like the most! Thank you!
Def not for everyone! but for others we’ll be exactly what they need. Not all have the desire, nor time, to hunt. Others just need some supplemental inventory. For those folks we hope RSco is a great fit and huge blessing. Otherwise, keep it going with what works!
Those thin belt loops that come in dresses are meant to be cut off after purchase, they only reason they're on garments is to keep the belts with the garment at the store
I think a lot of people prefer the hunt for sure. There are some people who can't or people who don't want to spend the time finding their own inventory as well. I personally like a combination of both, especially as I have less and less time with my kids getting older.
I love selling shoes, I used to buy pallets of shoes until shipping rates went through the roof, I just went to purchase their shoe lots to try them out and wanted to buy several qty to save on shipping cost however having a whole row of shoe pallets in the video on the listing, it would only let me purchase 1 lot :( Hopefully in the future they have a higher qty available. Also there wasn't much info on the shoe lots other than most are in their original boxes. So maybe only getting 10 pair is good for now so i can see what I'll actually be getting rather than purchasing 50-100+ pr and not being happy with them. I agree with a lot of the other commenters on wanting items that aren't flawed when you pick out your own items you always check for flaws before purchasing. The membership price is also obsurd considering its $49 a month you'd have to purchase in high volumes to even make it worth it and their website doesn't have enough bundles listed to make a memebership worth it for a large amount of members. Also if your a high volume reseller keeping records of inventory, incorporating the monthly membership cost into your cog is a hassle. This gives me catch n dealz vibes they were always changing policies and shipping prices changed regularly it ran away a lot of customers including me.
Please keep me updated on how the shoes work out for you! I understand all of the points you brought up. I don't know anything about Catch n Dealz, but what I do know about Reseller Supply Co is that they are literally at the very beginning the wholesale stage of their business. They are in the listening and learning about the community stage of things, so I think everything you just stated will be super valuable for them to hear and consider. The more they hear from the community, the more they will make adjustments to their business. Personally, I would recommend reaching out to them about purchasing more shoe lots, and I'm sure they'd love to hear your other thoughts as well if you wanted to take the time to share them. But yes - I totally see your perspective on everything.
Thanks for the thoughts! Our biggest goal with the membership is to have a small group of people that are regular buyers, which then informs our purchasing. It’s looking like the biggest benefit will be first dibs. We’ll offer inventory to members before it hits the site. Thus much of the inventory won’t actually hit the site. We thought the price pays for itself in just $300 worth of inventory / month ($30 saved as a member) but we may revisit this.
Box #1 not impressed. I’m not excited about listing tshirts. At $8/item I don’t want to deal with flaws Box #2 I like most of the items you picked out Box #3 winner. No flaws and a good higher value mix
I agree with your box assessments haha. However, keep in mind I didn't really look at the items when I was picking out stuff - I just kind of threw random stuff in the box haha
Thats way too much for example 80 plus 20 shipping = 100 for a lot of 10 department store brand jeans and most likely with flaws. I guess if you can't source where you live then maybe but don't expect to make much profit.
I think they should make boxes with flawed items only not mix with sellable items. That COG is not super cheap for investing in flawed items or basics.
Based on my reselling experience on Posh & EBay, I feel like a lot of that stuff would just sit. I find that basics that don’t have high demand labels just don’t move, even when priced low.

the pink mens sweatshirt has a stain on shoulder. It was under your hand around 7:51 mark
ooooh thank you for catching that. Clearly I missed it.

don't steam mine. I like the new fold creases😊

Presorted bins of items: linens, jeans, tees, etc.
great suggestion!!! and what cool place is this in St. Louis??? I need to check it out the next time I'm in town!

Do you have the resellers supply co info?
I don't know what was wrong with my brain when I made the description for this video lol - the info is there now!
@ thank you so much Becky. You are awesome.
Not impressed with the company. I rather go thrift myself and get great items than be sent that stuff that will probably not sell.
That's fair. Thrifting is super fun, and you know exactly what you're bringing home and for how much.

Oh interesting. Here I am just walking around with belt loops on my dresses...lol
What was the COG per item on the 3rd box?
On the site, it looks like 43 pieces for $268.
Buying duplicates of packaged goods/beauty products could be worth it!

omg you should definitely let them know. I'm sure they'd love to get XXS off their hands :)

This is a GREAT suggestion.
Yep, we’re on this and actually already have 7 boxes of flawed items.
Not really loving the items. I do appreciate the video!!
Thanks for watching
Meh
haha - that's fair.
😅
29 a month for membership in order to get credit for flawed items. No thank you. Interesting reseller subscription service though.
Based on my reselling experience on Posh & EBay, I feel like a lot of that stuff would just sit. I find that basics that don’t have high demand labels just don’t move, even when priced low.
