You can determine it's live because the voice came from the mic and the echo hasn't change much. Plus, the instrumental when separated with the sound of the voice sounds clear, no added voice for support. I am so amazed.... She really is the LEGEND... She sang it 100% live!! :D

This is what you get when you have a great singer with awesome back up singers and their voice blend beautifully with the main singer. And even better these back up singers stay with the main act throughout their career (well mostly some stayed) you get the same polished sound every time. Can't deny MC but some part actually the main part I thought was song by her was sung by Trey Lorenze that sounded like Mariah killing that high note. No wonder she kept him under her wing can't let that much talent go. It crazy even in the 90s a lot of the more talented singers and bands barely got any recognition.

The first half was live;the last part was lipped. When you hit high note/s, singers usually put away their microphone at least certain inch or inches from their mouth to make the sound's better. Go and ask some amateur singers; that is basic.

In my opinion, she did not LIP SYNC the last part but the sound engineer layered it with prerecorded track to hidden undesirable voice quality if she messed up. Like what Beyonce did on singing national anthem at Obama's inauguration last year.
