- How safe is the MENTOR 7?
In this video Theo de Blic shows the most safety-relevant maneuvers on the new MENTOR 7 Light (which apply for the standard version too, which will be released later).
A short comment: Theo is extremely positive about the passive safety of that wing. But keep in mind, that the MENTOR 7 is a high end EN B-wing and certainly requires active piloting and experience. But we are convinced that it is very docile for his category.
Theo points out one important thing: Many pilots overdo when trying to “repair” a real-life incident, causing even worse situations than before. Have his advice in mind: Let it fly!

This wing truly incredible! Its time to conquer Dachstein mountains! Ahh, I need good weather! 😂
As I progressed from Mentor 1 to Mentor 5 I'm keen on moving on to this one! Thank you very much for this good video! 🙂🙃🙂
how did you like it? I made the same step from Oryx -> Mentor 5 light. Of course performnance was way better, but somehow I felt a bit disconnected from the wing (more dampened than the M1 in both axis) so I changed it with a more talkative wing ...
Thanks for your videos. They really show what it is like to fly an EN-B glider.
just let it fly and it will fix itself?
@Linuxhippy2 Always in calm air and never in turbulent air !!!
@@sensai3425 yes exactly, this was my complaint. This video suggests the glider is safe for all pilot classes, which it is definitely not!
Theo, you almost go in the second of the accalerated frot follaps out of the accelerator, would it be different if you stay in for a second or more?
Exactly. Nobody would drop speedbar that quickly.
At the side collapse he gets out of the speedbar even at the same time pulling.
Not a good test in my view.
Tks Theo. Good vid and explanation as usual
Cheers

Amazing design!!!!
Thanks for this Nice vidéo. What’s happen in a stall if you don’t stabilize it (rear) but stall and hand’s up (mistake of an afraid pilot)?
Excelent!
Agree - Mentor 7 Light is a pretty safe wing for an High-EN-B glider. On the other hand this Wing loves rolling when accelerated so much that i am thinking about selling it again. Anyone with similar experience?
top video 👌👌👌
is there a chance U can test the PHI Maestro 2?
Esto es increible
Nice glider 👍🏼
Mentor 7 std will be my next wing...!!!
Does M7 do SAT?
effectivement j ai eu recemmment une tres grosse fermeture a l approche d un nuage une cascade d incident du a mon surpilotage et rien que le fait de laisser voler tout est rentré dans l ordre , bras haut et au contact suffit generalement !!
Probefliegen , danach bestellen, realistischer Zeitraum ?
Super vidéo, bravo ! par contre désolé mais l'accent italo-indien fait pas très sérieux pour NOVA
This test is bull.
He gets out of the speedbar during, and even before the collapse.
You can see it 100% in slomotion.
How can NOVA support such a crappy show?
Taking your feet of the speed bar should be everyone’s first reaction to a symmetrical or asymmetrical collapse during accelerated flight. Test pilots are not supposed to stay in the accelerator when they induce a collapse. His timing seems a little off on one manoeuvre but he repeats the collapse with better timing straight away. It is not easy to perform everything 100% accurately while talking to the camera so we think Theo is doing a pretty good job. We hope that Theo keeps supporting us in future and we will always support him as good as we can.
this test makes the wing look safer, than it is.
Every pilot, that joined a siv knows, that you need to pull the wing down and then get out of the speedbar, for a real collapse.
This test is a marketing gag, that can cost lifes by underestimating the wing.
and no, the timing did not get better.
There seems to be a misunderstanding here. This is not an SIV. Theo’s idea was to replicate the certification process. He mentioned it at the start of the video.
