Can an ordinary Muslim express something else at the final hours of death except seek-out the mercies of Allah and have a sense of forgiveness from the Lord.

Abu Hurairah narrated that Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said,
“When a man dies, his good deeds come to an end except three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, and righteous offspring who will pray for him.” (Muslim)
Out of these 3, the one that can potentially last until the day of judgement is beneficial knowledge that others act upon and pass down through to other generations.
Your children can only pray for you, while they are alive. Once they taste death themselves and lie in their graves, they can no longer pray for you. They will expect their children to pray for them. How many know of our great, great, great grandfathers by name?
So too with Sadaqah jariya. That can too end. A water well, or an olive plant which exists now may disappear in later generations
Only good knowledge which others act upon or pass down can exist far longer than the other 2

Not a great lecture BUT a great real reminder about perhaps the only and only truth of our lives..@20:04..i being a doctor seen many a dying person..seen exactly what Shaikh said in the light of Quran and Hadith..a person s eyes rolling up and up as if seeing and following something..also to note..eyelid muscles r moving but remaining all powerful muscles and tendons of body r motionless.. their powers r withheld by one's order..i v seen another phenomenon.. don't know about this in detail..the person as if looking two worlds simultaneously..as he is responding vaguely to my q..but immediately shifting eyes to some other.. which we don't see..the person s who saw perhaps double never revived
