Store windows display jewelry, home goods, and mannequins dressed in sparkly saris. Salons offer henna tattoos for the hands and feet, and the giant marker painted in the intersection of West Devon and North Sacramento avenues is inspired by a henna design.

I lived near Devon AVENUE...( not street ) for many years and I welcomed our new Indian neighbors when they started to arrive; despite some people who objected! I treasure a pic of myself in a gorgeous Sari that one of my new friend gave me to wear to a large gathering! What a blessing they are to the West Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago!

I have been living in Chicago suburbs since 1991. Back then Devon Ave was the only option to get Indian food and groceries. We went to Devon Ave almost every other weekend. So many memories.
