This is the first time I have viewed an interview of Saba Qamar, and my honest and unbiased reaction is that she seems so full of herself, the whole interview she is just talking about herself, me, myself, mujhey, mera...mainay buhat qurbaniyan di hain..I heard these words in every sentence she said. On that, she is just promoting how famous and desired she is, be it for the directors or the audience, how difficult the taxi was for her, how much fun she had, how much hse had to suffer through the shoots, how much worried she was about her scenes and screen space..I just noticed how she is cutting others off and talking over Sunita, Muneeb and Hareem by speaking louder.

What a missed opportunity. There was no point of a panel interview when only Saba Qamar interjected and spoke on behalf of everyone! Quite ill-mannered, honestly.

A little humility goes a long way , Saba should learn that …She sounded a bit pompous when she said Abdullah Seja wants me , Saba Qamar, in every episode .. She has praised her co-stars but her pompousness still shows when she is incessantly cutting in others’ conversations throughout the interview..
Anyway I loved the first episode!!! The dialogues were hard hitting and real depiction of our society..

Seeing Saba in this interview, reminded me of The Round Table with Anupama Chopra where she had Rani Mukherji along with all the top actress such as Deepika Padukone, and ohhh god she didn’t let anyone finish their sentences, she was interrupting everyone, was answering on behalf of others! It was annoying as hell.
I think Saba needs to calm down a bit. She needs to take a step back and think before she jumps the gun. Kuddos to Aamna for remaining calm and at times asking Saba to let others speak.
I have never seen any of Hareen’s interviews before but I was so pleasantly surprised by her views and her articulation. Her response were clean and to the point but alas only if Saba would let her talk🤦🏻‍♀️
Well done Aamna❤️ as always love your attitude!

Sometimes Pakistani dramas are groundbreaking like Sange Mah, Parizaad, Yeh Dil Mera, Cheekh, Mera Sain and Pyaar k Sadqay but these dramas are rare we want more of that and less of 2 wives, rival sisters and saas bahu. Please make it short and crisp stories like Netflix seasons.I really hope this one will work!

Another good interview by Amina. Amina is so generous that she lets people speak even if they are dragging conversation. Everybody was good and casual in the interview and that made it more entertaining. Saboor and Sunita didn't have much time to speak.
Saba, we all like you. You are an amazing actress and we all know that you put a lot of efforts in your work. Just a humble request that please do not bring it up again and again. Your work speaks for itself and that is more convincing :)

Love saba but she is constantly speaking over others even when the question is not directed at her. It kinda ruins the flow of the interview.
It also makes her seem quite overbearing on other co stars who are significantly junior to her (besides Sunita). Even the statement about “seja wanted saba in every episode” was quite cringe. The biggest stars will always make way for others let their work shine over rather than their words.

Those who r saying saba doesn't let anyone speak, its not lyk dat. She is very lively and energetic as a person and very enthusiastic and hyper active. Watch her other intv wid Amna mam which is uploaded on AHI. Saba herself requested solo itvs for everyone as group intvs mein interruptions hotein hai. But then coz of limited time it wasn't possible. Saba is an Aries and Aries r meant to be hyperactive. I am sure it is not done deliberately .She just luvs to talk more on camera and have been a professional host in the past. The habbit is mostly inherited from there. Plz dont judge her for this! She's a very loving person, not at all arrogant as some of you think! Its just that she's very transparent and doesn't fake things for camera. Jo hai bas samne se wohi hai !

The first episode of Sar e Rah was just brilliant .
About this round table, one thing to say.
There can not be one type of drama all the time. Different people like different things. Makers should focus on creating interesting content. The authors of the classic novels didn't ask the audience what they wanted to read . They focused on creating and telling stories, and they found the readers/ audience. So, if you are an artist and in the creative field, please create. Onus is not on the audience to tell the makers what to create. Doesn't work like that

Really enjoyed listening to this conversation!! On one hand where I do understand Hareem's perspective that change comes within and it takes time to bring holistic change ,however, we have to keep in mind the structure of modern world as well. The age of social media is changing sensibility of people in the matter of two to three years .and that change is primarily because of media !! The narrative of media influences our day to day life !!

  • @elenam4846
    @elenam4846 ปีที่แล้ว +34

I wish this was a bit longer as I am sure Aamna had more pertinent questions to ask but nevertheless enjoyed it! I think I resonated the most with Hareem, her answers were thoughtful and wise. Saba, Sunita and Saboor did sorta put the onus on the audience to be the change-makers but it's not fair or feasible as there are many other factors that contribute to the mediocre content we're seeing. So let's not simplify things everyone needs to do their bit. That said, why does Saba interject so much? I have noticed she does this in all her interviews. It's disrespectful! I wish she would work on breaking this habit - it's ok to relinquish your control and let others finish their thoughts

Saba as a cab driver, hmm interesting . I am so glad dramas of different , refreshing content are coming on TV. More appreciable is that these girls are playing age appropriate characters, rather than cliché romantic roles as young girls. Men like FQ should take note and stop romancing very young girls , rather do such characters. More power to Saba for refusing to take a slap in dramas. All girls should follow suit.

Absolutely, agree with actors. Change is not an overnight phenomenon especially for generations of oppressed society, little towns. The feudal system , corrupt government and media created the image of tyrant ,stalking toxic men getting the girl or shami kapor 50 year old getting 20 year old Saira Bano. The image of a “good woman “ crying getting slapped advise by parents to do sabar . InshAllah Allah things will change with the effort . Pinjra, ghisi pitti mohabbat, dil na ummed tu nahi and many more. Keep the effort results are with Allah. # stand up against slapping. Thank you for wonderful work you all are doing. We do appreciate.

Good content must have entertainment value also, too much suffering or heavy content can make it hard to watch when you already have so many other worries. Sar e rah's first episode was impressive! Ghisi piti muhabbat was a good example of entertainment plus a good message. Dark comedy is not everyone's cup of tea so normal humor and other tropes can be used in the future!

The only thing I felt was a little odd was the resistance of Sabas family(especially phupho) of her working at all(taxi or no taxi). Saba’s family is clearly low income and in such a family, daughters are expected to work as darzans, parlors walis, or maids. So the reaction of the family especially the brother had me scratching my head

The debate about change was a good one, i agree with hareem change ek dam se nhi ata , also we want change but we also dont want every drama to be preachy. Subtle msgs are more enjoyable. Secondly saas bahu se hat ke audience ne parizaad, sang e mah, ehd e wafa, sinf e ahan, ye sab dramaz dekhe they so its not ke audience bilkul nhi dekhte you just have to make such dramas audience attract hogi. Audience ko bhi apni life me entertainment chiye na ke dramaz me har scene me koi lesson. All of the above mentioned dramaz had many lessons and people watched it. Make such more dramas make good thrillers, mystery, horror ( short ones ) people will definitely watch it. Agr log na dekhte to pakistan me Netflix ki itni viewership nhi hoti.

Channels need to realize that there is some content that will never make huge ratings in the short term but they will prove profitable in the long term. If you look at American tv in the 90s and 00s the kinds of shows having millions of views were the cop procedurals. Then channels like HBO and AMC came and made content for a niche audience of a few hundred thousand, but today their catalog is worth much more than those cop shows. I know it's a diff country and a diff model, but the fact is that there is a niche audience in Pakistan that don't want to watch these saas bahu mardhar shows. They are watching kdrama and netflix because their tastes aren't being met. If local content starts being made to cater to them maybe it won't get a lot of ratings but it will have more staying power and even global appeal.

Bro Saba needs to humble herself. Yeah she’s a good actress but she’s among talents as well.
    1. Talking about yourself highly in the 3rd person is so unattractive.
    2. Stop interrupting others.
    3. Stop talking over others.

the show looks honest , dignified , highlights issue with a cause but not in your face but with a narrative and sense of entertainment / drama ! A show which is being driven forward by Saba Qamar - the Meryl Streep of the East so for certain the audience is definitely expecting great stuff !

Loved this interview. And soooo loved EPI 1. Seems v promising and diff from the same old-same old ghisi pitti story of suspicious husband then-divorce… and then in the final scene, contrite husband says, “mujhe maaf kar do”!!! Blech!
I think this series is going to be about quietly assertive and strong and independent minded women. Yes, high time we saw more of such characters instead of the weak and voiceless female characters portrayed in many Pak serials.
