The success of WAP phones has made the phone operator NTT Do Co Mo Japan’s biggest company in terms of stock market value. Every Sunday Haranjuko Park becomes the catwalk for the youth and their new gadgets. They symbolise a country undergoing dramatic social changes. Houses are being developed in which every room is fully integrated with the Internet. Buses are driven by computers networked over the Internet. But are these hi tech advances for the better? “If we go on like this communication will become colourless”, says one unconvinced teenager.

Someone rightly said, Japan has been living in the year 2000 for the last 40 years
1:34-1:48 That guy hit the nail on the head.
It took about another decade for this trend to reach the United States.
and yes this is aged well
Boy we’re they so right and look how far we’ve come
Harajuku early 2000s wow amazing that culture of hanging out on weekends in harajuku fashion reached my third world southeast asian country during that time too at our local mall of all places well its hot anyway what a trip wow
Wow, this was all in 2001? This is all about IoT too, which if I'm not mistaken was only popularized here in America by Amazon in the past decade or so. Ahead of their time, they were.
It's crazy how it took Boston Dynamics to catch up for almost a decade. If the deflation in Japan hadn't continued the world would look completely different.
I'd imagine an alternate timeline where Japan was THE technological world superpower and not the US... The Internet itself would look different, we would all be using Japan's mixi over Facebook and such
I remember hearing about iMode data and wireless NFC payments, biometrics and camera phones from a Japanese exchange student here in canada back in 2002.. it was the future! I was/am blown away at how far we have come in such a small period.
😵😵😵sir how old r u now

Wrong timestamp. 1:36 is what you're looking for.
I love Japan
Ohhh yeahhhhhh
Japan does what American't.
@brandonspain12345 Like what, being in a 32 year long recession and poorer as of 2023? Yeah, big "achievement" over America lmao 🤣🤣🤣
ah, aged like fine wine
Japón ahora en el 2023 está peor que nunca, sobretodo en materia tecnológica... Ya no pueden brillar como antes xc
ohh yeaahhh
1:07 Mga Paniki! 😂
1:34 _One Night in Arabia in the background_
Japan is big in technology but that comes with a cost like most things
The damage in the social fabric and the highest suicidal rates .
The west is going the same path. But in it's own way with politics division and lies spreading in the net it is a downfall and a fast one
love the fashion
Both that tech guy as well as the harajuku people both being consigned about the future where everyone will be living in their own bubble online, and don’t meet other persons irl…that did age quite well…
Oh yeaaaahhh
7:25 Looks like they were still using tapes despite all the advanced tech they had at the time
Oh yeah
Does anyone know the name of this song and band? 0:50
Oh yeaah
