    I watched this movie over a dozen times. My dad bought me a used Toshiba VCR back in 1990 and included two movies which one was Shaker Run. Now watching it I see how real movies where back than compared to now. I love the sounds of the Firebird. I want to buy this movie in Dolby Digital and hook up the surrounds to my 7ch. Yamaha Natural Sound receiver to watch it with my kids.

      I watched the filming as a kid at the TNL building in Blenheim, remember how shaker jumps through the open roller door, a guy was sitting to the right on of the platform loading edge eating Sammy's. family spent Saturday and Sunday watching this filming.
      I recall Dad telling me, he was working away in the home workshop one Saturday and kept hearing this V8 being worked up, he went for a drive to investigate and came back excited and announcing that a movie was being shot just up the road..
      True Story, after that 2 day scene they packed up and filmed the Koromiko scene where the big explosion happened.
      I'm Gareth from Blenheim, born and Bred.

      Well considering the trans am is technically a stunt car not a stock car like the carpi it doesn't surprise me especially since from the close up pictures I have seen of the trans am its on the vintage BFG bias ply tires and the stock car is most likely on actual racing slicks. The suspension and tires would definitely make it handle better and the motor is most likely got twice the power. I still love the trans am and I wouldn't mind building one using a late model stock car chassis and cage but still street legal

      I got it on Amazon, but the quality of the picture is horrible. I think someone just downloaded the movie from TH-cam in 240p and burned it on a disc. Let's say I was really disappointed by it. 10/10 movie in 1/10 quality. I don't know if there is an official high quality DVD/Blu Ray release.

    • @MoniqueFromPlymouth
      @MoniqueFromPlymouth 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thatmaninblack | Keep in mind this movie was made and produced in New Zealand. The film stock and cameras they used were not as good as a movie made in Hollywood, which can explain why the production values are not up to par with 1985. And also explains why the picture quality makes it look like it came from the 1970s.

    Just wondering.... The scene in Wellington as they drive left out of the tunnel...it looks like (insert close up) that Cliff is actually driving, and at some speed...
    Had another look 25/11/20...
    Seriously, looks pretty genuine,
    Is it possible that the car was on a trailer and Cliff was mimicking/acting?
    I would like someone to come forward on this. Cliff was a Brilliant actor, but what was his driving skills like? He's either really doing the driving or just a bloody good actor.
    I do know from what I've been told is that he did drive Shaker in the movie but in what scenes? I couldn't say.

      No its definitely a Lada, the New Zealand Dairy Board sold the old USSR cheese and butter back in the 8p's and the Russians not having US$ to pay for it sent ladas which were then sold by the New Zealand Dairy Board.... Lada Nivas and Cossacks, which were very popular with the farmers of New Zealand as they were cheap, reliable and lasted for ever
