  • People might not be aware that food insecurity is a growing issue on Nantucket. In this presentation, by Brian Lenane discusses how the Nantucket Resource Partnership in collaboration with several other local organizations are already addressing elements of the overall need. His guests include Chris Sleeper, Co-Founder, Pip & Anchor and Nourishing Nantucket; Matt Haffenrefer - Principal & Team Builder, Process First, LLC; Ruth Pitts, Food Pantry Manager, Nantucket Food Fuel & Rental Assistance; and David Hayes - Manager / Mental Health Clinician, Nantucket Family Resource Center.
This program is part of the Nantucket Historical Association's Spring Lecture Series at the Nantucket Whaling Museum.
The Nantucket Resource Partnership fosters collaboration between island organizations to create an efficient and sustainable food security system. Common goals, shared evaluation models, and connected systems will result in an island where everyone has the food they need to thrive. The NRP is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to create a truly food-secure Nantucket.
Brian Lenane moved to Nantucket in March of 2019. Before that, he’d been coming to Nantucket with his family since the late 70’s. Before joining the Nantucket Community School as the Adult Education Coordinator, Brian held a variety of leadership positions in management and IT consulting organizations serving the US federal government and public utilities market. He is a founder and Treasurer for the Nantucket Resource Partnership.
