Indeed, shooting in snow is tough. Bloody light sensor insist that everything should be around 18% grey and then it is fine. Exposure compensation to the rescue, or full on manual on all settings and just fire away a set of test shots to see what works best.
Hi Jo, you are doing great. You are a little ahead of me - I got my 200-600mm lens about a week ago. I haven't got anything in focus yet! Your dog pics are awesome.
Al margen de las fotos, hay días en los también se disfruta de caminar, observar y disfrutar. ya veo que le pusiste parcialmente la funda al objetivo. Pues a seguir disfrutando de tus salidas Jo Heard. Un saludo desde Asturias-España.
Morning Jo very lovely video as all ways it looks like a very nice place around thar ware you are for wildlife photography work,, I bet its really nice thar in the spring and summertime as well for photography work,, take care of yourself stay safe mate
I often use your technique, looking for something to photograph, rather than pay vast sums to sit in a hide and not get anything that original. I managed to get long covid, so now my mobility is restricted, but sitting in a car the wildlife often ignores you after a while, you just need to find a wildlife corridor. If you go into the same wood a lot, drop seed occasionally. Also I have a tiny camping seat, mainly so I can get up again, but it will help keep you dry sitting under a tree.
While I do like hides, I also like trying to get out myself (and it's much cheaper 🤣) though can be frustrating 🤣🤣 I get myself a ground seat, but in my excitement, I left it at home 🤣🤦🏼♀️ that's a good idea with areas I visit often so I'll definitely try that 👍
@@JoHeard I have a place in Spain, and there is a site in Central Spain I visit to photograph vultures, only the last half dozen times I have lucked out, heavy rain [July!], too hot to fly, too cold to fly, construction of viewing platform, etc. Sometimes the world is just against you. I am thinking of doing a video of birds from the snow we had in the Forest of Dean the other day.
Thank you 😊 I do love the snow and am very happy I decided to head out in it 👍 hopefully you'll manage to find some snow somewhere 🤣 my sister lives in Melbourne and they've been skiing somewhere in Oz but no idea where 🤣
The struggle is part of the process to become a wildlife photographer, the shots of the dog are stunning.
Great stuff, Jo! Thanks for letting me tag along with you on your snowy outage...

Great photos 😊
Lovely vid 🙂 Nice to see it’s not just me who sits around for an hour seeing nothing 😂
If you don't have your camera though, then the wildlife is everywhere 🤣🤣
Excellent video and photos of the robins and goldfinch
Thank you 😊 I am really pleased I stuck at it and got those images, as they came out really well 📷
