I mean....it was hardly the most original or truly fabulous collection, but I would be lying if I said I didn't find some of the pieces really quite fun. I just found that it was far to much. I respect that houses have a standard to live up to, but you should be putting forward the truly best, not fluff and filler. Olivier is such a talented designer, and it is a shame to watch his ability go into these dragging collections. Over all, I have mixed emotions. A part of me enjoyed some of the looks, but honestly it nothing inspiring.

Yves Saint Laurent... the Real designers... must be turning in their graves. These clothes may look good on a pop star, but most people are not pop stars, and want clothes that make THEM look good. Balmain... you can do better. But ultimately, if consumers buy what you put out... then it's not about Fashion... but Profits.

You miss the overall intention behind Balmains design objective. You may be right that it is clothes for pop stars, but his designs are for people who want to dress like pop stars. You may not have the luxury of the pop star lifestyle, but you have the luxury to afford their clothes. the definition of consumer luxury.
