I have never in my 43 years heard violin playing like this - just extraordinary

Christian Tetzlaff the GREAT. And perfect in ignoring useless conductors :-)

Yes, he does have intonation problems, but who the fuck cares? Intonation doesn't account for 5% of the greatness of this performance.

Interesting the comments about his intonation--I noticed it right off the bat (in multiple videos of him), and I'm a STICKLER for great intonation. Yet, he's so fucking brilliant it DOESN'T MATTER.

I know this piece backwards, his intonation is perfect his playing extraordinary. I have perfect pitch so i think some of what is said here is highly suspect . His playing is marvellous.

+Keith Howard I fully agree. There must be Tetzlaff haters here. There is certainly no second opinion about Tetzlaff's flawless intonation. And I know this work not only backwards but also forwards.
What an embarrassing rubbish is sometimes in print...

One takes with a very large pinch of salt random TH-cam commenters presuming to criticise world-class soloists. It's the first time I've heard Tetzlaff. In my uninformed opinion he's in the first rank of the first rank

It seems to me that he is using natural tuning to a slight extent, which is probably what people are objecting to or noticing. He is very consistent with his tuning, so I assume this is intentional on his part. Normally you'd expect a soloist to be using expressive intonation (e.g. high 3rds and leading notes in the major keys).

Christian Tetzlaff is a very fine violinist. I've enjoyed listening to him playing the Mozart Violin Concerto.

dear cookie, if Joachim Kaiser agrees with you then you would be absolutely right, but otherwise this is probably the best that anyone has ever played, respectfully.

Wonderful performance, as always. Interesting to see him clean-cut as he was some years ago. I prefer his present look, with long hair. His work and style has evolved too!

I have heard Mr Tetzlaff in a concert given at Paris, long time ago;He was playing Bache sonatas partitas,at that time I didn't like at all..but later I listened to him often in the radio and he impressioned me.Hear is a beautiful interpretation of Mozart.I don't understand the critics below!!I have heard this concerto hundred of times, played it and i cannot deny his musicality!!

I think it must be terribly difficult for those with perfect pitch to enjoy live music very often. When you can hear every little bitty dibble of pitch on either end of a note.......I'm glad my ears are more forgiving....so I can more enjoy the efforts of those who've put much into their performances. BTW....I was highly impressed with the audience ! ....they didn't clap between movements !!! :-)

It's not so much that we don't applaud his effort to produce music. It's just at this soloist stage, one is expected to play at the highest standard possible.
The intonation here is terribly disoriented, to say sloppy is already forgiving. I have to say even though my ear is extremely sharp for intonation I have no perfect pitch. They are separate entities. I never seek perfection in performance just the right intentions. But I think it's great you enjoy great music. It's a rare thing these days...

Sir Roger Norrington gave an interview where he criticised the use of the vibrato technique. Yet the orchestra and especially the soloist is using this technique willy nilly

Why Joachim Kaiser and not, say, Jesus Christ or Moses? And would be good if you sharpen your ears and listen to more performances of Mozart violin concerti. There are literally hundreds, and most are CLEANER than this one, not to mention anything else. Good luck searching!!

What a pity that a wonderful orchestra and conductor hire a violinist with such lousy intonation!!!
Not to speak of lack of real musical qualities.

    • @HenJack-vl5cb
      @HenJack-vl5cb 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

If there is something annoying in this video is not the nervios playing of the soloist ,nor the rather apathy of the orchestra, but the job this conductor does-no technic, always behind and no connection to the masterpiece at all!

Oh dear. One suspects your sense of intonation is about a 100 times less good than Tetzlaff. And as to your appreciation of music - well, let's not even go there. This is sublime musicianship
