    Same Mover 2min later: " First thing I do is a supersonic run, really just for fun and to burn some gas..."

      There's an interesting PBS special about life as a naval aviator, and it happens to have that Commander who saw the UFOs while he was still active duty. One of the things that's a real tough thing for the pilots is landing on a pitching deck at night time.

    Hey mover, just wanted to say. I was a F-15E Crew Chief for 7 years at RAF Lakenheath and SJAFB, NC. I've been watching your vods for a couple of months and decided to pick up the Alex Sheppard books on Audible to listen to while going down the road in my new job as a Line Haul driver for FedEx Freight. These are the first books I have actually enjoyed in a long while so thank you for writing them. Also that " with your shield or on it spartan" line. Brah. Lol. Anyways, keep up the work, sir. Watching you slam the stick backwards with both hands makes me so happy. As an F-15E Chief during FCS bits and ops checks I'd always use both hands to pull aft after a certain point. Just because it got harder to pull the farther aft you went. I always wondered if pilots did the same in flight cause the drag against the stabs in a hydro/electrical push pull cable system is felt by the pilot. Seeing that just proved that point.

      The image on-screen refreshes at a different rate from the number of frames per second the camera records. Most computer monitors refresh in a range from 60Hz-120Hz; cameras work at 50 frames per second. Because camera and monitor are out of sync, you record fewer images per second, hence the flicker.

    Notice how you barely touch the pitch on landing, gliding right down to the deck.

    Mover how the heck are you going to fly f18s for the navy and not be carrier qualified?!!! Even Marines get carrier qualified and they spend most of their time land based.

    I just wonder if Mover ever imagined he'd be flying around the same area in a little old helicopter at 60 knots just a few years later.
    Incredible video. Just mind-blowing.

    As a military pilot, how low can you legally fly over a city?

      Then there’s Madison, WI where I used to live and all the old hippies always bitchin about the 176th FS Falcons. “Oh they’re too loud”, “oh they’re too low”, “oh they’re evil war machines”, “ they should be banned from flying over the city”. All these ultra liberal lefties with lots of money who complain about EVERYTHING all the time! I had to move.

      @@gregtrotter239 Was in KAF, Afghanistan, for 33 months. Didnt really appreciate those afterburns at 0200. Every. Single. Night. But when they would take off during my morning coffee at 1000 and shoot straight up at 90, I would always yee-haw for sure lol.

      Violeta Brdar yeah, unfortunately most fighters have to take off in AB when they have bombs (safety reasons - TOLD). Still loud AF, especially when you are sleeping close to the flight line.

    does anyone know if a military helicopter pilots experience/hours can be used to apply to the airlines as a civilian? or does your experience have to be fixed wing?

    • @jcheck6
      @jcheck6 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Military helo hours do apply as long as you have fix wing time. I don't believe the hours apply one for one though.

    Good Tuesday afternoon my friend I'm just catching up to your channel from yesterday.. I've been busy with work... question how long can you stay in burner on fa18??

    • @mikez4132
      @mikez4132 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fuel capacity and altitude dictates that. But, usually just a few mins or at crucial times of the mission/combat/takeoff because fuel is consumed at an incredible rate. Technically, afterburner can remain engaged until you run out of fuel and plummet.
