- This is a response and a clarification of the disastrous belief of Yasir Qadhi that calling upon the dead is not shirk until you believe the one you are making duaa to is a "god".
Al-Nu’man ibn Bashir reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Supplication is worship itself.” Then, the Prophet recited the verse, “Your Lord says: Call upon Me and I will respond to you. Verily, those who disdain My worship will enter Hell in humiliation.” (40:60)

If making Dua towards even Jibril (as) the most powerful of angels and is unlimited times more powerful than us is even shirk, how is suplicating towards a dead person buried in the ground not shirk? Its unfathomable how people think.

I dont have a Phd like Yasir Qadhi....but even a 10year old can tell u that making dua to something or someone other than Allah swt is pure Shirk! Islam is about Tawheed...Allah is the only Creator to be worshipped...am very disappointed in Yasir Qadhi...may Allah swt protect us. Aameen

Ascribing someone or something besides Allah with attributes unique to Allah is Shirk. And Ascribing someone or something besides Allah with rights unique to Allah is Shirk. That’s basically Shirk. And Yasir Qadhi‘s definition has to be ignored. To not fall into Shirk it is important to learn the rights and attributes of Allah. It means basically learning who Allah the Almighty is.

How is something as simple as tawhid being twisted by scholars we trust? I don’t even understand how this is happening
Monotheism is one thing but strict Monotheism is another thing, Islam is being upon Strict Monotheism, as the speaker (not the way of Yasir Kadhis quoted video) is teaching, may Allah forgive and guide the muslims. Jazak alla, sheikh (not Yasir Kadhi) but the speaker in this case.
Calling on anyone, dead or alive, including the Messeger of Allah, is absolutey shirk. Calling directly or indirectly, all forms are shirk. No one but Allah should be mentionned in duaa. For this reason, shias are clearly mushrikin.

(O Allah, Lord of Jibril, Mika'il and Israfil, Creator of the heavens and the earth, Knower of the unseen and the seen, You judge between Your slaves concerning wherein they differ. O Allah, guide me to the disputed matters of truth for You are the One Who guides to the Straight Path)

When you put Yale above the Shuyookh that shows you what level you believe the teachings of each are at. smh.
Ascribing someone or something besides Allah with attributes unique to Allah is Shirk. And Ascribing someone or something besides Allah with rights unique to Allah is Shirk. Hearing and answering our prayers are unique attributes of Allah, ascribing these attributes to Allah's creation is SHIRK.
وَأَنَّ الْمَسَاجِدَ لِلَّـهِ فَلَا تَدْعُوا مَعَ اللَّـهِ أَحَدًا (...and that masajid (mosques) belong to Allah; so, do not invoke anyone along with Allah....72:18)
It's a book of tawheed, so pure wallahi.

Why would you call upon the dead in the first place. They're dead. If you don't believe that they have supernatural powers then leave them alone. Yassir Qadhi is very confused.

Shirk is shirk is shirk. Even a 4 year old child can understand that if you educate them about correct aqeedah. Tragic that Madeenah university graduates are deviating more and more, this fitan has to be addressed very seriously by their academia and scholarship. He's not the only one who deviates after clear guidance, confusing and pandering to his his following with jibberish astaghfirullah. May Allah protect us from such ultimate loss and guide him back for the sake of all the lambs behind him ameen.
Wouldn't our prophet sallalahi alayhi wa sallam and his sahaba have been the first to turn to his historical prophetic lineage if this was allowed ?! He did no such thing and warned us against deifying prophets and deceased pious figures and turning to them for any help! There is no need to deeply intellectualise anything and no amount of deep research from philosophical trends and history will change that, the truth is Crystal Clear. Otherwise we might as well adopt any other religion or creed which call upon their dead saints alongwith the One and Only God. May Allah protect.

What we can learn from those who learned Islam from Yale University. Moreover, the dead don't talk to us, nobody can come to this side from the world of Barzaq and nobody can intercede fro us except Khatimul Nabi Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam and that too in the Day of Hashr. There are people who thinks that these dead people can intercede for them whether they offer Salat or not, especially in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. They practically ask for forgiveness and what not and I have heard it and saw it myself. Nauzubillahi min Zaalik

There was a time when preachers would talk Haq 80% and when they mixed the false 20% with it, one could differentiate.
Now its 98% Haq and 2% is a complete divergence of it thus making it difficult for the ummah at large to tell the difference.
May we all see Haq as Haq and may we see falsehood as just that. Ameen.
