- Dr. J responds to and critiques Lydia McGrew's criteria of fictionalizing and its application to paraphrase. A conceptual tension exists between them, and her justification for allowing paraphrase (i.e. retaining the meaning) is the same rationale for compositional devices proponents who embrace transferral, displacement, etc. @LydiaMcGrewChannel

Thank you, Dr. J!! This is what frustrates me about Lydia McGrew. She critiques Michael Licona, and then adopts Dr. Licona's same method only using different terminologies to accomplish the same result. This is like a "bait and switch." But she only does so to avoid Licona's argument based on the Greco-Roman "bios" theory for explaining the genre for the Gospels. Frustrating. Frustrating. Frustrating.
