I can be selfless with some people, but in a friendship or romantic relationship, there needs to be a balance of give and take. I don’t mean to brag here, but sometimes I give so much in terms of empathy and thoughtfulness that men I’m interested in will ask me why I’m single and flat out tell me that I’m too good for them. A lot of people remember who I am long after we’ve met and I don’t remember them because they didn’t make much of an impression.
