Yeah she manages to be highly technical but only in the service of the emotions and story of the song, never for its own sake and she always appears totally emotionally invested in what she is singing. It always feels like Floor really feels what she is singing.
In her masterclasses Floor explains that the technical stuff is the bassis and it needs to be there on such a level that wenn she is on stage she don't need to think of that giving her the freedom to express and transmit those emotions and storytelling. Being an empath helps but it comes with a price. She told she can be extremely tired. (interview Faceculture)
I thought it interesting - and genuine - how she at different times viewed that performance seemingly though the eyes of a fan, a vocal coach, and with such pride. But mostly what impressed me about this was her reactions to the crowd shots. I'm not a performer; no one is ever screaming out their love for what I do. So I don't know that feeling. But just within the quick cuts to the fans - she even mentioned it - you could see a smile come to her lips and know how much she appreciates them. Special lady.

In the live concert last week she actually surpassed her high note at the end, which made this woman immortal at Wacken 2013. That was sensational. So far nothing could keep up with Wacken when it comes to this song. She did that last weekend. someone put together a compilation "The Evolution of the Ending to Ghost Love Score" from the first time she performed it in Austin in 2012 through Bogota in 2018 when she was sick. Floor herself saw it, commented, and linked to it in a tweet and on her own channel. she started out just singing the notes, no lyrics. after 2 months, on 12/12/12 in Brazil she added in the lyrics. definitely worth checking out. some really cool fan filmed moments.
In Columbia, one of the things that would get her on stage when ill is possibly the knowledge of what happens to Nightwish singers when they get ill from a year before. This reaction she made may have also inspired her to revisit that version of the final note (the best version) for the virtual gigs they just did. She’s changed it over the years but even she can’t improve on perfection, only equal it.

There’s an excellent video you may have seen on TH-cam where someone has collated all of her videoed recordings of the climax (as it were) from 2012 up to the last (not including The Islander’s Arms) and it’s illuminating. For every year it becomes more embellished - considerably so on the Decades tour - as she herself points out. I thought she was excellent on those virtual shows and you wouldn’t know she’d recently had surgery (which was probably keyhole surgery, therefore less invasive with a quicker recovery time). She was absolutely on-point.
The Valkyrie Goddess is benevolent. She seems not only humble, but grateful to have that talent even though I'm sure she worked for it. It's also clear she adores her band mates and they love her. Thanks guys, this was great.

One thing I noticed watching this the first time. All of us mortals are watching her and the band. Floors biggest smiles come from the shots of the crowd. A point she actually touched on herself.
I really wonder how Floor can listen to this song and no move her head. I have also listened to it probably thousands of times but still start immediately move my head with the rhythm. 😂
She cannot bob along when she's actually singing the song. If nothing else, I guess she's mostly suppressing the (muscle) movements she has to make for singing it. I have been a dancer for many years (including theatre performances). Whenever I hear a piece of music from one of those performances, I only hear a little 'song' in my head that spell out the sequence of dance moves. I cannot listen to the music in any other way (without it) as it is embedded 'in my spine' as we say it.

Mercury's. Finally found these guys about 4 years ago. I was totally pissed that I had never heard of them. I fell in love with Floor as soon as her first belt hit me. I broke out in a smile and goosebumps. There have only been a few female vocalists that have given me goosebumps.
Like anyone who is a student of, and critical of, their own efforts, you can see her not only mentally readying commentary for this video but thinking to herself "That was okay" or "How could I have done that better? Or differently?" Great artists are never satisfied with their work. Never. The most you'll get is "That was pretty good". You will never hear "That was perfect".

Although Tarja was the voice, we need to remember that Tuomas is the brain behind the songs that made nightwish a great band, that's why people still keep asking for these songs after all the past years. You can't be an excellent singer, but if you are not singing something that people will remember or sing along, you are basically an empty singer.
I didnt watch this video before and i found it poor of content. she talks a little about what happen that day and the singing technique but nothing about the song meaning to herself . I mean for an artist that should be the biggest part. I guess that is cause when she came in nightwish already was headliner and the song was already there, and her face in the 13:19 it seems like she didnt like it, she almost say no with her head, in some part she justify why she does that. i mean which artist do that? .i dont know if there's some thoumas or tarja's versions of their en of an era, those should be a lot more interesting than this one.
Justify? She is explaining her thought process and decisions and how stuff happened. Floor clearly puts a lot of thought into exactly how she sings songs and how to place certain emphasis on certain parts to tell the story and convey the emotions. Some artists just go with their gut so couldn't tell you why they sing a certain part a certain way beyond it feeling right or that's just how it came out and that works for them. She also talks about the emotion during the performance and, like everything she sings, is clearly very emotionally invested when performing. I'm not sure what you think is missing, a breakdown of the lyrics?
