This Thomas has the best premium class reviews, no lie. Salut sir! Renault on the other hand..their infotainment and instruments still has a antique look and feel. It's as if they are now discovering technology.

Here's my opinion (in short): I bought Talisman sedan few months ago with full equipment (Initiale Paris, petrol version, automatic, 200 horse power, great Bose stereo systems with woofers in the back, in December 2017), and I am in-love with it especially in design and functionality. Before driving Talisman - I've tried Koleos - I didn`t like it that much, here are my reasons:
First - it has no button for controlling large screen in front of you so you are forced to use fingers (while you are driving) just to change some options (for example - to activate climate control - you will have to look away from the road, press bottom of the touch-screen and then edit climate controls). In Talisman everything is much easier to access.
Second, it does not have HUD (Head Up Display that opens in front, a small plastic that shows you some good infos so you do not need to move your head off the road).
Also - Koleos that I drove had not so good quality plastic below the wheel, I wish they implemented 7th sit, 2 multimedia screens for passengers at the back and wider wheels (size is good, but width will create more cool look).
For review - you forgot to mention (as far as I listened?): multi-sense system (6 predefined sets) where red colour represents sport mode & then SUV becomes more responsive and remembers position of seats, preferences and mirrors positions; Initiale Paris version comes with beautiful cooling/heating/massage systems in white leather seats); warming driving wheel & warming front mirrors, great for winter time), all seats are moving electronically, auto opening (unlocking) / closing (locking) car when you come closer or go away, 4 lighting steps on each door, auto parking, autonomous driving (not available in all countries); front and back cameras, 16 sensors around the car with audio and visual display, 360 camera with alarm (unfortunately Renault car alarm do not call you on your phone or send SMS when somebody breaks in, so you replace it with other car alarm manufacturer). 4control drive (back wheels are rotating the way you are turning), Android Auto and CarPlay are working well but its default system is very nice (of course, only with implemented button... Without it everything is harder to find, activate etc...) but system is not responsive as, lets say - iPad tablet (50 fps)... It works more like Android tablet (15-25 frames per second)...
I would rather wait for next generation of Koleos when they improve it with more luxury details that are currently missing, add more HP (latest one is 200 hp too, released at the end of 2017) and will keep enjoying in Talisman :)

Just brought a 17 plate of this car! Upgrade on my little harchback... excited to use it after watching this review to help me decide!
Was waiting for this. I love it. I noted the blind spot warning when a car passed you. The top model has cooling seats as well as front and rear heated seats, together with a heated steering wheel. There are three types of get in parking assistance and even get out of assistance. I prefer the light coloured seats with the blue exterior. Thank you an objective and informative review.

Excellent review, you are spot on right about the suspension Thomas, your front view captured the rattling, shaking and shuddering in the cabin view. The car could do more with adaptive dampers. seems like average for motorway speeds albeit noise in the cabin from engine and wind.

Renault Samsung was supposed to launch in the Philippines in 2020 with the QM6 as the first model but was delayed because of the pandemic. Although I am not sure if it was only postponed or the local distributor has scrapped the launch altogether. Sayang. I like this crossover. And since the chassis is the same with the X-Trail because of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance, the handling should be similar.
After watching several reviews, your's is the best, and taking a test drive I will be ordering a Signature Nav auto 175 diesel with 4wd in white very shortly.

I dont the feel of the door handle when you open the sound so cheap feel i have feel it in my friend car Nissan Qasqai because this both vehicle share the same door handle. Great review from Thomas as always!
Own one after test driving Kia Sportage, Hyundai Tucson, Nissan X-Trail, Jeep Compass, VW Tiguan, Toyota RAV4, Mazda CX-5 and Honda CR-V. At least for me it was an easy pick out of the bunch, too easy in fact.

I really love the look of this vehicle, especially the interior in the front. The French can make some truly beautiful things when they want to. But, that 43k price is so high, and it is not a problem with just this SUV. In general, vehicles are getting so expensive.

I think there are so many people with prejudices about french cars, but today I think they improved a lot the problems that suffered in early 2000's and yes, Autogefühl is fair in its critics.

Remember the first generation Koleos? What a hidious car! This one looks really nice - thanks to Nissan. :P Really dig the wood inlays. even if they are a bit small/short.
After the introduction of the new espace and the brilliant talisman renault finally found it's self and now makes very impressive and beautiful cars including the Koleos. I disagree about the consumption. I don't think 7,5 liters average is a bad number (and even better at 7 with economical driving). Don't forget it is a big car with a 2 liter engine. And of course another great review.

Wow! I'm in the market for a 2017 Koleos right now (10000km 23 900€, lower trim level). Why 2017? In sweden taxes on Koleos from 1st of July 2018 are 1150€ per year, for a 2017 its 300€! EXCELLENT review! First time i found your channel! Subscribed and liked!

Great SUV
Really like this elegant and modern SUV. I want to travel (in passenger seat) with it... But the driving feeling looks not interesting at all. And would be nice to have the 1.8 tce 225 on it

Yes Samsung Motors was founded in the 90s. They collaborated with Nissan and the first Samsung the Samsung SM 5 was a Nissan Maxima (A32) in 1998.
And since 2000 it was Renault Samsung Motors. And later all Samsung models were rebadged Renault (in some cases like with this car Nissan) models.

Just to clarify; it's called QM6 in Asian. The previous generation was called QM5.
Interior especially dash board and centre console is much cleaner than Nissan's lineup.

OK SUV, but It's a lot of money and doesn't look premium for the price.Same price Peugeot does it better inside /out quality and ride .Renault cuts more corners and looks cheaper than their Peugeot counterparts.Anyway ,great video Thomas,keep it up!!

Oh wow. The roof opens inwards. Usually those type of panoramic roofs slide open to the outside leaving it on top of the car. What then happens if it is wet? And surely it takes up ceiling height.

koleos This is a cost-effective way to buy a new car. This is an explanation of how to remove the oil film from the car glass in 3 seconds while driving safely in the rain.
Was driving it,same annoying squishy rattle feeling in the pedals(clutch) like in the Kadjar which ruins the driving experience in a brand new car with 3000mls on clock.Also diesel have not enough torque when accelerating,plus in low gears especially 1-2 you feel the car is not moving at all.Great looking car with a do not recommend to buy test drive experience.Get the CRV or RAV4 instead!!!!

Who's 2 litre diesel is better? Peugeot, VW or Renault. I drove a 2 litre diesel 3008 and found the engine very smooth and quiet.

Tom Heard Yes. I agree. Even their new petrol engines. The 1.2 puretech turbo especially. Much more refined than the Renault equivalent it seems. But Peugeot's 2 litre diesel (not even the new one but the one in the previous 3008) was so so good. As old as that engine is, it is so quiet even by today's standards as well as clean with good power and torque figures. Their diesels was definitely ahead of time.
SDav21 yes I agree, I’ve got a ds3 with the 1.6 diesel, the new 3008 with the 1.2 puretech, and an old berlingo with the old 1.9 diesel their all very good engines, never had any problems and they all get good fuel economy

Something bad is with Renault manual gearboxes indeed, i've tried new Clio and it was annoyigly unprecise.
Is it just me, or do that sun roof seem to be tilting downward and sliding under the fixed part?
That seems like a very bad design choice. What if there's dirt or water on the roof? Or ice and snow?

the both brand use a lot of common pieces and chassis and engines. They do a lot of money saving , economy of scale
Nissan is actually Renault"s Sister company as why you will find nissan stamps under the bonnet!!.
As a UK buyer, I need to advise UK viewers that we are getting ripped off..after 3 year Renault have discontinued the Koleos due to lack of sales in the UK..Yeah!! Your gonna have low sales if no one knows about your product!! There is a definite ripoff of UK customers, most of the neat Koleos features are removed in the 2020 model for UK buyers, I've searched for UK advertising for this vehicle...nothing!!.
Renault have simply made a cheap UK version of the car for 2020 knowing they were going to discontinue it, by the way its £2000 more to buy than the 2019 model, but you get less equipment than the exact same model in Europe.
Incomparably better looking than the X-trail. Thomas, any idea on whether Renault is considering more powerful engines?

Big mistake made Renault to sell cheap Dacia cars under Renault brand. People who want luxury cars won't feel very special driving a Renault brand, even if they are not bad.

I didn't see any Koleos in Indonesia. The only modern Renault I saw there was a Duster, which is in fact a rebadged Dacia, and way more cheaper than this Koleos.

To remain factual: many tests have shown that german diesels are the cleanest. Renault diesels have 4-5 times higher emissions. Not saying vw didnt cheat and in no way protecting. Just stating facts, we recently also had a link to those studies in the comments.

NO-GO - All versions fail EU 6c completely, from September 1st onwards they can't even be legally registered in the whole EU.
The gasoline versions have particle emissions multiple times higher than the EU limit for diesels since 2011 (!)
Soon it will face new regulations it fails to match and lose value.
And Renault's diesel engines have Nox emissions far above the limit in all real world tests.
Indeed they have not presented a solution yet
Renault will have a new range of diesel engines that accomplish new Euro 6c in september, a 1.7 and a 2.0 so the 1.6 dci and this engine tested in Koleos will be replaced. New version of 1.5 dci (same that uses the new A Class) with SCR and other improves will be launched soon too.
I can't understand why we must limit the diesel engines now, just when we have the cleanest diesel ever. If they are clean, I can't see the problem. Pass the regulations (very restrictives), so it's ok. Yes, they will be more and more expensive, so diesel engines will dissapear from the more economic vehicles, but not due their emissions.
It’s interesting that in recent “real world, on-the-road” emission tests (as opposed to the present unrealistic EU laboratory tests), some new diesels do very well (eg a new Tiguan 150 TDI DSG; Mercedes 200 diesel), and others do very bad (eg the popular Nissan Qashqai/Renault diesel emits approx 6 times the EU6 lab test) - google EQUA Index, or the Mayor of London’s website for these independent “on-road” emission results...!

+Autogefuhl - could this difference in performance be to do with SCR (AdBlu)? Even today, some modern diesels do not have SCR, whilst others do? And also, why has so little been talked about by journalists (except Thomas!) of the poor emission performance of some modern diesels (eg Renault/Nissan and others)? When other modern diesels perform so well. This also shows there is much ignorance amongst the public, and some politicians, about the performance of modern diesels (with SCR?)...
About design, exterior looks bulky and soft, not so elegant to me, and interior looks cheaper than in competitors. So it's not this one that would get me into Renault.
