I think as we gamers get older we slide more and more into smaller scales. Easier to paint (paradoxically), easier to store, and offers a far bigger strategic game play. Anyway, those look great and are tempting me to do a 2mm scale fantasy force... or 2.
Thank you for your kind comments and support! It’s a really good point you make. I would be curious to do a study to see if that trend is the case. I know for me, the cost and the storage were a big selling point.
Thanks! I feel they add character to the force. The only issue is that I can’t technically use them for another force like the armies of Mordor. However, I will anyway! lol
Due to their size I would say that’s almost impossible. The other option is to not add flags and instead add magnet unit labels to the base like Mark Backhouse does for his units. However, that’s not something I wanted to do.
These look great! I like the look of the banners also which give a bit of more depth that can be lacking at 2mm scale. I also love the elephants (mumakil, oliphaunts). I hope you get to put together a Pelennor fields army and play - that would look pretty awesome! I am not a painter so I am using the printable armies pdf from karwansaray publishers to make my armies. The way you have based yours has given me some good ideas for which bases I will use. While they have a good range of troop formations I will still need to make some of my own - I am just putting the finishing touches on an Ent base. I am also experimenting with how it looks to add a banner or flag symbol on the edge of the base to better show which side the unit is on. This will reduce the amount of space to show the formation but I hope it will look good. I will mock some up and put them on the S&H Facebook page to get feedback.
That would be great to see! Mark puts unit tags on his bases using magnetic paper so he can change the name of the unit. Worth checking out his armies!
@@TsCreativeRamblings Does he have a TH-cam channel? I tried joining his twitter account but he blocked me! Strange as I had only just joined (no weird posts, LOL) - I think maybe he thought I was a bot or something.
@@TsCreativeRamblings That’s right! I have watched a few of his battle games and unit overviews on the Lardies channel. I don’t think I have seen them all yet. It was what got me keen on the system (as well your videos).
I haven't used varnish for decades. I'd be interested to know what you use as it might be time to start again. I love the approach to flags (definitely nothing for the wild men!) I don't go with anything permanent as I find I like to repurpose my factions, so banners are temporary and don't look as good as yours. I'd love to do Minas Tirith. I probably have what I need in 2mn. I'm always put off as I think any general ruleset as written will favour the Witch King. I just can't see how the Haradrim could lose!
I’m looking forward to play testing this scenario with Strength & Honour ruleset to see how they work for LotR. I may do a video battle report to document how it goes. The varnish I use is just the GW spray can varnish. However, I’ve heard lots of good things about the Windsor & Newton spray can varnish. I plan to pick a can up to try. I never used to varnish but found that sometimes the paint job got chipped which is very frustrating, so now I varnish everything I paint.
@@TsCreativeRamblings when I first started out in the hobby I glossed all my 25mm minis. it added a richness to the paint underneath that I liked. Even before I switched to smaller scales, I decided not to bother. I'll look into it. As I can spray 2mm armies in a flash, I may as well, thanks.
Very nice. I’ve built a generic Orc/Goblin army for Hordes of the Things, using Irregular Miniatures 2mm strips (on a 20mm frontage, so effectively 1/2 DBx sized bases). Should play on a really small tabletop footprint (a foot square). All organised and based but, sadly, not painted… 😞
That sounds really good! I was in a similar position so decided to chip away them a little at a time. Hopefully you find my videos inspiring enough to get them painted! Thanks for the support!
Thanks! I’m going to use Strength & Honour by Mark Backhouse. I’ll hopefully be play testing some variations with him this week and hope to do a video of that. I’ve also done a review video of the rules. Check out the ‘LotR in 2mm’ playlist. Thanks for the support!
That is the beauty of 2mm armies is the shapes and layout of the figures tend to all for multi use. However, I tend to add flags/banners and I use certain colour schemes to differentiate units/armies. Thanks for your comment and support!

Love this project man. So different, I need to try this one day!
Thanks! I really appreciate your support! There’s no reason not to. It’s pretty easy to achieve with the range of figures available.
@@TsCreativeRamblings Yeh kll definitely look into it. The little banners are an amazing touch also 😀

@T's Creative Ramblings Yeh defiantly add a lot of character. I wonder if there's a way to do interchangeable flags haha
