If you wanna make money buy gold and stocks. Games are for playing
If those are worthless please send them to me
Maybe I can finally get a copy of The Punisher for once without paying an arm and a leg.
Something tells me MvC2 dreamcast version is still the best version to own just because it is the purest port from the arcade
I doubt it. These new versions are the exact arcade versions. Now, if the ports of them are poor, then you can safely say that. I mean, the dreamcast version might have extra modes though.
Everyone Forgets about the OG XBOX Version of MVC2 and it was even better than the DC ver.
@@L0rdEsedess That's not true. The definitive version was the DC version. The DC was just the Naomi arcade board shrunk down. All the fighting games you got were the arcade versions.
People will always seek the Dreamcast version. Even if Xbox had a closer clone. Mainly cuz everyone bought a dreamcast for it. People want to recreate that nostalgia, so ya dreamcast will always be popular.
I'm glad prices are going down. Now I can start collecting again
prices will soften a bit but it will still be expensive. Switch/PS4 punisher will be way better though as it is the Arcade port
Port makes it worse, dreamcast will still be the tournament standard.
@@ludinromero8458 depending on if this is arcade perfect. If it is I see this being played at the side tournaments of evo for mvc2
I always wanted that Punisher game but it never got a proper home port except the arcade 1up and man its a good game and I believe the first game Capcom made for Marvel
The complete in-box collector set will maintain its value, but the loose cart, which people just get to play, will drastically plummet. There is always a separation of casual and collector based on availability, and having it release on switch will take care of the casual market.
The addition of the tattoo being in the game still over doubles the price of Punisher. That is "collector" pricing right there. No new release is going to have an overly significant effect on that.
I honestly don't think the new release is what is the drop here. It's more the covid spike starting correct a little. It's beem happening to several retro games.
This collection is the arcade version of these games, not the console version
Exactly. MvC2 won't have the shop & probably other extras the DC/PS2/XBox versions had.
I hate the arcade versions due to the fact if you win a round against your homie you cant change out your squad even during couch gaming 😫
Good! Because The Punisher on the Genesis is trash compared to the arcade.
The problem with these MvC collections is Capcom has to get the liscense from Marvel to use the characters. It might be a few years but eventually this collection will get delisted and the value of these games will increase again. Buy the stuff while you can digital or physical.
Solid point, I think this will be the last time these games will be rereleased for a long time! Specially with the potential future death of physical media. Prices will soften and stabilize on the original releases (they will still be pricey, just not as much), but eventually they will all climb up (this new collection included).
The Collection is going to make all the prices go down on the originals. Seriously Video Game price value is the most toxic shit ever. I ain't trying to spend $300 on a copy of Marvel versus Capcom
Why would you buy any of these games when you can emulate them all on pretty much any hardware
I doubt the prices will go down too much due to the fact the last compilation Capcome made with fighting classics didn't make the Darkstalkers games lose value even tho they were inferior to the collection
@@fillerbunnyninjashark271 because I want an actual physical case and game? That I'm able to preserve at any time
I got all X-Men and street fighter games on g cloud and punisher for free
Same thing happened to the old NCAA games. Since the new NCAA announcement, the prices of earlier ones like NCAA 14 plummeted like a ROCK. It used to sell for around $130-150, and now it's plummeted to around $60. As a collector, stuff like this makes me VERY happy.
@@ironspyder-db8fd True, but the 360 version was always more expensive than the PS3 version.
Yep. It's always weird to me when people don't understand what causes value. Supply and demand rule economics. People wanted to play NCAA because it was the LAST college football game (therefore the best quality-wise) and were still updating rosters every year. NOW as soon as EA put a release date on the new one the price dropped because "never make another" became this year.
NOW... if the new one comes out and isn't that great... (EA is suspect now quality wise) we may see people run back to the copies they sold of 14' to hedge their bets. But it won't his $200 again for a while..... like years.
If that were the case, emulators would have done that at the very beginning. People are not paying high prices due to inaccessibility, but rather the collectability. A digital copy of anything is completely worthless as soon as it's downloaded.
Yep no need for Dreamcast, Xbox or ps2 version of MVC2 😂
The Nintendo Switch inherently adds 3-5 frames of lag because of that system itself. Better on Steam.
When I play fighting games on my dreamcast I use the ascii 6 button controller pad it helps prevent the hands from hurting. Also, as a video game collector who owns these games, I'm happy everyone gets to experience playing these great games That were so expensive I don't care if the prices go down
Just saw a copy of Marvel Vs Capcom 2 for the dreamcast CIB for $170. Xmen children of the atom on the saturn goes for around 100. I am so thrilled about this collection. Every game in the collection sells for a crap ton nowadays and its ridiculous
still have my ps2 copy of mvc2, I'm so glad the game is getting a re release in a collection.
The real value of these games is everyone having the opportunity to play and enjoy them.
Definitely a good opportunity for people who have been wanting to get these games
Usually when a game gets remastered or re-released and becomes more accessible to play and own the value does go down a bit, just look at the original Xenoblade for the Wii, the price has gone down drastically from where it used to be
There are people out there that would pick the MVC2 Dreamcast version over the Arcade. I have seen this in forums for many years.
With the release of a new college football game, NCAA 14 dropped like a bad habit. 😂
I’m glad the price is going down so more of us can afford the game, I heard from a guy at a gamestore that told me that he knows many people that had dozens of copies for tournaments that will no longer need them and flood the market
We've seen this time and time again. At best there will be a temp dip. It will then level out quickly then remain its course. There will always be a market for the original, physical copies. Remember when Earthbound went digital? People were forecasting all sorts of nonsense. Now look at the price.
It's good. These old games should be around 10 or 20 bucks at most.
You think every game should be valued equally and in the range of $10-$20 specifically?
Damn I bought the Dreamcast version for 200 bucks last year. I’m not mad tho.
Anyone who thinks they’re going to be worthless is over exaggerating. But the reality is there going to be less people looking to buy and more people looking to sell these games in order to upgrade to the new collection so naturally the price will drop maybe 50$ maybe 100$ only time will tell.
Here's a great question, will all the games automatically be in the cart or downloading will be required for Nintendo Switch Carts? Is there any website that helps people to know this about this video game and others? A website that states of a Nintendo Switch Game has all the games on it or download will be required with internet? Thanks.
idk those are truly priceless artifacts : D
Not worthless, just the value might go down.
Radiant Silvergun on the Switch was a port of the XB 360 version. It added some lag from the original but had updated graphics.
The original games will always hold their value to a certain degree. They might soften up a bit, but definitely won't plummet.
They are using the arcade roms for the collection. Punisher will be completely different because it will be the arcade version which has never been released to consoles. But even the Dreamcast version of MvC2 is not a perfect port of the arcade version (which again the collection will use the arcade rom)
Unfortunately it will not make the prices go down. Shelf collectors want these original games as a status symbol or showpiece. It's really not about playing the games for these types of collectors. These are the types of people driving up the prices on these original games. It's like in the classic comic book market, you can buy reprints and trade paperback collections for much cheaper than the original prints. But the prices of the original issues still stays high. Unfortunately classic physical video games are seen as collectors items now, it doesn't matter how many re-releases and compilations come out, the original copies will still be desirable and command a premium.
Retro games will always be expensive because of nostalgia. I never thought I'd part ways with any of my gaming collection, but I sold all my cartridge based systems and all of the cart games for those systems. Emulation is great for all of them, so I'm ok with not having the originals anymore. I still have my disc based systems and games though.
Damn this was a good video, thanks for the info. Now I want them to re release the Star Gladiator/Plamsa Sword series
Good, people can actually buy the original copies now without paying a arm & leg
What about MVC2 on XBLA?
After collecting for 3 decades all the releases do is usually make the originals more coveted!
Originally, they're all arcade games. I'll never get why console conversions of arcade games have any worth at all. They're always inferior, especially the 16bit versions.
Me personally I love going through and unlocking all the stages, characters and colors. And the main menu music when you’re choosing what mode you’re gonna play,. Not any of that will be on this collection. It’ll just be arcade mode everything already unlocked with online .. so no I don’t believe it will lose value .
Hello Y2K Collector, I have three questions. What was the original source you read/or hear from to get this news? I am wondering a good source to read or listen to be updated on new release of video games. What is the release date for this collection? Where do you suggest to pick this up? Any advice? Thanks.
Mac's fighting collection hasn't been given a formal release date to my knowledge but it's releasing sometime this year
Geez, there is still going to be a collector’s market. People actually want to play the game, and play it online. Your Dreamcast copy should still hold some value.
Not so fast.
The emulation of the collection has a chance of being bad.
The only people upset about the prices going down are resellers and scalpers. Real gamers and collectors are happy cause now they can get the Originals for cheaper prices
The capcom collection is getting a physical also which is so great. I'll probably get it.
30-40 should be a fair price for MvC2, it should have a stable value not a high value.
It will not bring the price down of the originals, didn't happen with Cotton games, Castlevania games, or Mega Man games.
This is a great topic, I shared it in my Discord. Maybe I'll bring it up on my stream later. Great content! But maybe if anything people may not be on the hunt for these games as much as before.
Arcade emulation made both worthless a decade ago. But there's still retro collector's value in having the original. Lastly, the new collection is censored especially the Punisher game. Don't remember if they had censored it in the Genesis port, they probably did there as well.
😂 they definitely won’t be crushed bro , it’s the original one
🤷♂️
Still less expensive than a CIB Earthbound. Its not gonna make a dent its awesome it will be more accessible for those that dont want to fork account a kidney and dont want to deal with emulation but nothing will change.
From what I can remember, the Nintendo Direct showed it's the Arcade versions of all the games. So all the arcade goodies will be there.
Honestly, if it brings down the price of the original games on all sorts of platforms, then good! The only ones getting mad about it are the resellers and scalpers whom deserve a karmic boot to the head.
I want to get the MVC collection for both Nintendo Switch and Steam.
These aren’t worth what their pricing on ebay the joke prices I have these also but I bought them when they released the marvel Vs capcom 2 on Dreamcast Xbox PS2 don’t come with the arcade rom thanks to my marvel Vs capcom 2 arcade 1 up that’s worth $600 comes with the arcade rom but none of the consoles do if your trying to sell these for hundreds of dollars give up nobody is going to pay that high $200 for a marvel Vs capcom 2 the punisher that’s 16 but graphics not close to the arcade version it’s 16 but you can hack the game and add it for free
Marvel VS Capcom 2 for the arcade and Dreamcast were developed at the same time and was made with the Dreamcast in mind. So the Dreamcast version is already rather arcade accurate.
In fact in Japan, the arcade had a slot for the Dreamcast VMU and you had to play the arcade game to unlock characters in the Dreamcast version. They removed that from the US version, making the characters unloackable by just playing the game.
Given the capabilities of modern hardware, I would think the versions coming out for PS4 and Switch will be rather accurate as well. I would imagine any benefit of one version over the other (the new collection release or the Dreamcast) will be fairly minimal, but time will tell.
As a huge fan of Marvel/Capcom series of games, I'm keeping all of my old games for various previous systems (which I've had since they were current), and I'm getting the new collection for both PS4 and Switch. I personally don't care if the value goes down on the old versions as a result. I didn't buy them for the value in the first place. That being said, we'll see what the impact will be long term and if any effect on price will be temporary or ongoing.
For a start it's the arcade version of the Punisher, mot the MD version 😂😂😂. Did the price also plummet due to the existence of MAME,?
It’ll be interesting sometimes rereleases affect prices sometimes it doesn’t. Klonoa Wii and klonoa 2 both went down with the remaster. Persona 3 portable however did not.
I feel persona 3 portable compared to Reload stand out on for each versions differences, like FeMC and classic persona feel
Yup, I picked up the second one on ps2 for about $25 when it used to be around $50 ish.
@@bernbern309 oooo truuu I completely forgot about that…. But it probably maintained its value as it was a limited run release
I hope they did so I can get ride of my burned copy of MVC on Dreamcast
Nah.
Anyone who wanted could have emulated.
People who wanted the OG physical ...wanted the physical.
Temporary dip at best, so if you're chasing it, get it during dip.
My mvc2 for dreamcast sold just before the announcement. Boy was i lucky
Happy these games will be on modern consoles
Nah, just because a game is coming out as a digital download and Switch game doesn't mean the original hard copies will lose their value. They aren't making anymore Dreamcast systems so you can have the digital copy all you want but those who bought and kept hard copies have a piece of history. Diablo 2 came out as a digital download, does that mean the original game disc will lose its value? I don't think so, and I will be holding on to my Dreamcast copy of MVC2. Its no different than comics, they make reissues all the time, but those reissues do not interfere with the value of the original published copy.
Here are two great questions. Will all the games be in the disc and ready to play or internet is required and you have to download the games? Is there a website that tells us when PS4 has or does not have all games in a disc/discs?
For Nintendo Switch, here is another great question, will all the games automatically be in the cart or downloading will be required for Nintendo Switch Carts? Is there any website that helps people to know this about this video game and others? A website that states of a Nintendo Switch Game has all the games on it or download will be required with internet? Thanks.
I doubt the games will go down too much in value due to the fact when Capcom Fighting game collection came out the Darkstalkers games didn't go down in value.
Damn I still want Darkstalkers 3 for PS1 just not at the price its still going for
Dude, those games aren't worthless, it's truly more about the memories that you have playing those ports on their respected consoles regardless if they're flawed at all (or not). I know I have some games in my collection's that are expensive, though I still have fun playing them regardless. I still have my original copy of Marvel vs.Capcom 2 for PS2 to this day and I got many good hours into that game in the past (totally syked to pick it up for my Nintendo Switch).
Unless its an actual port and not emulation it shouldnt have an impact. It might still be played using Dreamcast in tournaments because of input latency. There have been times where Capcom put out a collection on steam and the input lag was atrocious. I would hold out.
I hope the prices do come down i want the punisher for my mega drive collection it's the last of the heavy hitters on my list
The Punisher will not go down in price from this collection coming out because it's a different game. The game in the collection is a arcade game not the Sega Genesis game.
I'm glad these collections exist. I have most of those games via PS2, Dreamcast and Saturn and frankly, pulling out those old systems just for the occasional play becomes impractical. Hell my Dreamcsst doesn't even work anymore, so my MvC2 copy has been collecting dust.
I guess the values of these games dipping doesn't matter much to me, because they were purchased at the bottom of the market and Ive always placed hard limits on what I'm willing to spend for any one game.
Hi I’ll give you $20 for your MVC2 since you’re not playing it and it’s now worthless 😋
@@MrDream-zm1pwHi you can pay $40-50 for the new collection with 7 games including MvC2 assuming you have a Switch, PS4, PS5, or capable PC. 😉
Isn't the new collection the Arcade Roms not the console versions with some patches? And a couple playable characters that weren't playable in a couple of the games will be playable. It's official releases from Capcom instead of hack mods to play as those characters.
I play The Punisher arcade version on my OG XBOX through a few emulators. Had the original pcb too. It's crazy to hear that the Genesis cart fetches so much when it's such a bad port. I used to collect Genesis games but even I had to skip that one.
People who just want full collections will still buy but people who bought them just to have them physically to play after they were put in game prison will get the new collection and possibly sell their old copies. So the market might be soon seeing a lot of used copies of marvel dreamcast and saturn fighting games soon.
I'll be honest I'm glad I sold all of those about 2 years ago I met a pretty penny... I've been emulating them and I can get them back on the switch and the PS4😂😂😂😂
If the Punisher is the arcade version it will definitely be better than the censored Genesis version. As for all the other games, I'm pretty sure they will be the arcade versions, CPS2 ad Naomi. They will definitely be better than the console versions.
That version of the punisher is nothing like the arcade version lol, I guess its rare but for playability it just doesn't compare
they wont plummet.. Because people that want original stuff it will matter. Basically people that want nostalgia will still pay. those who wont never would anyway
Like all games i think it just depends on the market and what people are willing to pay, it’s unlikely the price will be drastically lowered
If that were the case then Ocarina of Time which is one of the most readily available games would cost almost nothing to collect CiB, but that isn’t the case, it’s still a $100 - $400+ (cad) game depending on the version
Please stop, I've seen this happen before once the licensing is over the price will raise again.
They released Marvel VS Capcom 2 before years ago on Xbox 360 marketplace online. During that time of course the price dropped, but it still was a decent price, once that licensing was expired of course the physical price went back up.
This is something that'll constantly happen now that this whole streaming and on demand downloading type of services are becoming more common now. The big businesses will release in demand games for a limited time and then take those same games away to keep demand high for those said games.... Watch what happens with these games.
Its a big deal because its a collection of 8 games with an after sale market of over 1300$; mostly only the people who really enjoyed the original versions will be getting those versions now, given how worth while the collection is
what i don't understand is how tf did the collection supposedly had punisher but not captain commando or the masterpiece once called cadillacs & dinosaurs.
It's Mahvel baby! It is wierd to throw a beat 'em up into the Collection but it is Marvel game made by Capcom while the others you mentioned are purely Capcom properties.
Captain Commando isn't Marvel, and it IS ALREADY in the Capcom Beat Em Up Bundle which has already been released
The Punisher is included because it was a game made by Marvel for Capcom. It represents the first time they collaborated, I think.
Modern games strike again 🫡
I pcked up the Punisher on the NES months ago, glad I did ad a decent price
Yeah homie I’m not paying for ole stuff anymo 😂
nice, now i can have them all
Long term, not necessarily. No one really knows ten years from now. But a temporary drop might be nice. Never bought all the titles.
Collectors don’t give a damn if new versions are released. If they just wanted to play the games, they would emulate them or buy loose copies. They seek out complete in box because they want the nostalgia of the box art and playing the game on original hardware. Prices for Dreamcast Marvel vs Capcom 2 and Genesis The Punisher will likely not be affected. Every gamer should be grateful that Re-releases give everyone opportunity to experience these great games and keep them alive.
Also don’t worry about performance, this is not a switch exclusive. It’s also releasing on Xbox PlayStation and pc.
Cool its coming out physical! Definitely day one buy!
I currently own the OG Xbox and PS2 versions ...sold the DC version a long time ago.
Hahaha still awesome to have ill keep mine, but never worthless!
I can burn a bunch of roms to a disc too
The collection is great. But the sega one will stay on top. It more is about scarsesity.
I have the Punisher on Sega Genesis and I don't care. These retro game prices NEED to go down. Also the Sega version sucks. They cut out enemies and they made the ending stupid hard to get.
Unfortunately this is how the world works, this is how stock market works this is how supply and demand works and this is how it all works combined with various copyright laws. If you don't like it tough s*** you should have sold it a long time ago when you saw companies like Capcom releasing all of their old stuff in remastered editions. I mean it's been years since Capcom released their 30th anniversary edition if you didn't see this coming that's your own ignorance
I’ve been running all version on emulators… I’ve owned it on PS2 and Xbox live arcade. I wouldn’t mind buying it on Switch and also getting it for my emulator.
Good.
There are moments the value crashing is great and this is one of them. $200 foe MvC2 on dreamcast is just too much. The only other option was getting a arcade1up which is $500-600. Hoping Kuon, and Haunting ground end up the same way
If you want Arcade perfect MvC2 then the dreamcast version is the way to go as its basically the same hardware as the arcade Naomi hardware, even the vmu is compatible with the arcade game, the punisher is probably the game that benefits the most with a proper releasee as the arcade game thats on the switch is much better than the Geneisis/MD version, so maybe that might drop in price.
Good, let the values plummet. People into this just for investing need to get the hell out.
It’s called retro for a reason.
@@Gwapanese yeah, because it's old. They're still games, made to be enjoyed.
