    That's the funniest reason anyone has ever gone through a midlife crisis.

    • @HarleyAMV
      @HarleyAMV 2 ปีที่แล้ว +47

      This is my daily state since I turned 29...
      I'm like "How am I about to turn 30?!? Why are all these children considered adults now??? I'm OLD! T_T "

    • @penttikoivuniemi2146
      @penttikoivuniemi2146 2 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      @@HarleyAMV I have a little bit over three months to go until I turn 30. And I'm like what the fuck, where did my 20s go? I was just 26 the other day, having the best time of my life... And then the corona era just drained several years and I didn't even notice.

    • @HarleyAMV
      @HarleyAMV 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@penttikoivuniemi2146 Exactly! 26 felt like nothing at the time but now it almost feels like it was a tipping point.
      Early 20s, just got out of school, couldn't find a decent job but was managing, was pretty good.
      Got into some personal hardship at 24 and 25.
      Had an accident and spent most of 26 recovering.
      Grandma died when I was 27 and that was about half a year of paper work and battling with dumb banks.
      Then corona happened and now I'm just a few months away from 30... like what the fuck happened?
      All the celebs and youtubers/streamers are now younger than us?!? xD
      It might just be an early mid-life crisis but I feel super motivated to jump start my life again.
      Like back when people thought corona was just gonna be a quick break from work and everyone started to learn a new language, a new skill, or worked out lol
      I feel like I took it way too easy in my 20s and I always felt like I had all the time in the world.
      There's lots of things I wish I'd gotten done 10 years ago so I could have enjoyed it through my 20s, but I also feel like I've outgrown a lot of the things that I thought was holding me back.
      Hope corona eases up and we'll have a good 30s though...
      Better start getting ready for that 40 turn panic already hehe!

      @@HarleyAMV I'm personally doing a lot of inspiring things with my life right now, and that started when I was 24 and I decided to enter university and started doing HEMA. But at the same time, corona messed up my student exchange to Japan in spring 2021. And 2022. Now I'm aiming at spring 2023. The impact that has had on my own economic state forced me to move back in with my folks a year ago, which really fucked with my self esteem. That exchange is crucial to my future plans, but now it's also starting to feel like a ball and chain that prevents me from graduating. I literally only have my master's thesis and all the crap that goes with it left, so I probably could graduate in a year if I wanted to, but I need that student exchange. And now Putin invaded Ukraine, and I'm worried he's eying Finland next... That would be the fucking cherry on top of it all, corona situation getting solved so I could go but instead I get drafted to die on a battle field. So here's to having a good 30s and reaching that 40!

It was weird enough to realise that my little sisters were adults, but realising that... for example, the baby brother of a friend I had in primary school would now be at least 20? I am in my late 20s and in my opinion, a decade feels way more than a year. To me a decade feels more like around 9 yrs ago. It might be because I am very conscious with numbers and the amount time had passed since in my field I often work with numbers and the variable of time. So a decade feels like about nine years or a while.

      1) tons of young people go to the military cuz they don't have a direction or want benefits
      2) gov surveillance isn't the norm (yet), Canada is considering the implementation of china's social credit system, and both Canada and the US have already had instances of this especially toward conservatives.
      There are literally 3-5 generations of soldiers going off to die in wars that been started before they were born.
      We already lived with government surveillance from special agents since their inception.

    The other day I had a nostalgia trip to something I enjoyed from 2002 and was like "Oh fuuuuuuck that was 20 years ago and I was 16....gaahhhhhhh sign me up for AARP." I also had an elderly moment when a 20 year old hit on me and I had to shut them down like I'm almost your parent's age no thanks. It gets sooooo much worse guys. You realize albums you still listen to are like 20-30 years old now. A movie/book/show etc you love is up there too. I'll think back to something and it feels like it was only a few weeks ago but it's seriously been like 20 years. It's honestly terrifying how that happens so quickly. One day you're in high school and before you know it you're marching towards the grave and your youth is literally only in memories. I genuinely feel bad for people who are pushing 50 and up.

      your generation is the generation that barely even saw DVDs anymore (sorta) cuz it was right around 2008 when I walked to the local mall from school (5-7 min walk) and they were starting to sell HD and Blu-ray. One was black. The other blue cover. Eventually blu-ray stuck with the customers, prob was visually more appealing as well, but there's almost no difference between video quality.
      Us millennials grew up with the development of technology from VHS, DVD, and BD, and digital.
      Your generation saw very little of that, and it didn't take long for netflix and red box to come along as things went more and more digital.
      You may feel overwhelmed but the speed of the change you're seeing in technology is not as crazy as it was from the last 40-60 years. We're kinda hitting a peak now that digital is the end goal, straight from DVD/BD. 2010-2015 was when DVD bundled with BD was the norm.
      What was the norm for DVDs....they were usually 19.99 at average/starting price while BD was 25-30. Eventually DVD's seemed more like freebies or extra 5 bucks toward final cost.
      One of the most significant changes is the technology toward display/visuals, meaning our Television that used to cost 2,000+ are now 300-800 depending on the sale or holiday. Just saw 300-400 for UHD 32" widescreen TV from Costco ad.
      Around the 2000s when laptops were being bought for millennials, if you wanted to have a laptop that included a webcam, they typically went from 800 to 1k or even 1800+
      It took about 5+ years past 2012-2016 when laptops did not charge an extra 200+ just to include the webcam. This is partially because technology for better image quality and recording/capture quality went up over time. Another reason is because technology improved so the size of parts shrunk as well, to the point where today's laptops have cameras and microphone built in where you barely even notice them. There'd be a tiny camera lens that's not even a centimeter long, and one or two other holes that looked as if someone shot two thick sewing needles through the laptop's lid, and they're barely noticeable.
      So really it took us about 20 years to reach to this point. But it sure went by fast...
      You're 20s but us Gen Y millennials are only older than you by 10 years (7-12 years range).
      Most Gen X I meet are only 5 yrs above me.
      The generation slightly older than that, are the parents with children cussing at me at Target or other retail store cuz the parents are trying so hard 'not to be like their parents' e.e

Last time she told me that one of them who was only an infant last time I saw them was entering middle-school and I proceeded to try to gaslight her and myself into believing that they weren't. I did this in the middle of an Applebees. I've never related harder to a Bo Burnham song than I have at this point in my life. And that song is "Turning 30". Only difference is that he's willing to try to get to 40 before biting that bullet. I don't want to wait till then.
