Perfect timing !! I'm going to replace the belt on my 2014 850 this weekend. It has 2300 miles on it so I figured I better take a look at it. Great video and thanks.
I have a 2018 850 that I'm going to do my 1st change on the belt, I'm at almost 6,000 miles on that belt riding mountain logging and county roads, I hope my new belt holds up that well that long. I don't do the mud bog aggressive riding though and don't ride through much water.
Check the belt deflection with your new belts. May require shim added or subtracted. Polaris half ass shims those clutches. Seen hundreds of XP’s whether rzr, Ranger, sportsman’s needing shims added or subtracted to get deflection in spec. C techs build the machines while A techs write the service manuals. Thank me later🤙🏻
After 7 years of 60 inch plow on 05 brute force 750 looked lkke new. I figured the cost of the belt on top of inspection hassle either way was cheap insurance. Not sure what i expected to find but a new lookjng belt was not it for sure.
in your secondary clutch (upper part) is there a slight movement of the kind that there is still a minimum space to screw because I change my strap and I feel that it does not is not yet tight enough. thank you
Does your primary clutch make any noise? Got me a 850 and the primary seems clunky lol. Have been told it’s normal and been told by others that it’s not.
🤷🏼♂️ I don’t remember. I would go on your instincts. If it sounds extremely bad probably an issue. If it’s just some noise not a big deal. Can always take your clutch cover off and raise the machine and run it and take a visual look. All clutches make their own specific noises and clunks. Can am has some extremely loud clutches on a few machines.
Nothing really. I had moisture getting in my fuel system last year when I would let the machine melt off in the garage after plowing but didn’t have that issue this year. I just keep premium fuel with no ethanol in it and add Heat additive to the fuel. I would highly recommend! I love it. Every time I think about selling it for something els I come to the conclusion that it would be really dumb to do because it made it’s money back so fast and it’s great in the backcountry.
Just picked up the 2019 850 and absolutely love it. I was using a Yamaha 660 grizzly but this beast outperforms that in many different ways. I can't wait for it to snow so I can go outside and play by plowing my driveway!
I’m having a probed after driving for a wile with the traction on my Polaris 850 , on 2 and 4 wheel traction , it feels like the traction is descontrole and it doesn’t pick up speed. Please help thank you live in Europe.
I would give your dealer a call they will be able to hopefully get the issue figured out. Could be as little as a bad/loose wire or a computer issue or any number of things.
Do you have a trick or video to give me advice on how to remove the left side support bar to remove the clutch cover even at impact I'm not able to remove it. im from Québec
The more leverage you can get the better, so I would grab as many extensions as you can. Maybe tap the bolts a little with something to loosen the rust or whatever is holding the bolts in place. Or just take it to a shop, they have tools that could do it. I usually just start jumping on the wrench if it’s that tight and I don’t have enough leverage.
@@AutoPilotMT is there room to get a cheater bar on the wrench in this situation? Thats what I do on my cars and trucks, manual tire tool with a cheater bar. I once put the lugs on my truck so tight with a cheater bar that the local tire changing station couldnt break it loose with an air gun and we had to cut them off. Obviously not a good situation lol
That would be a real pain in the ass on the trail if you blew a belt and the machine was caked in mud. Very poor design. Just helped me rule out Polaris. Lots of power but no thanks.
I'm at 2 years and 3600 miles. Mine literally exploded into a million peices today while playing. Thank you so much for the help on figuring it out

Got 1000 on my 16 850..... think I should leave it or change it. Runs great. Got a new belt laying around
I’d run it till it goes but that’s just me. Or change it and use it as a spare. Either way I always carry a spare 😂

Iv noticed more slippage over time, less connected at the throttle with a little more play down low. 👍

Just shredded my belt at 97 hours on my sportsman 1000 XP nothing left of it but strands and chunks
Did you break the belt in or just hammer down Or bad luck with a batch of factory belts?
Is the 850 highlifter set up the same?

Definitely needs a better design for changing belts out when out in the field.
