This is amazing! I have a question to you: As far as i understand, the tnt cannon lauches the tnt's into unloaded chunks, where they load the chunk for a single tick, making it lazy processing, thus it does not process entities. Does this basically mean, that you are theoretically able to load the chunk anywhere in the world for a single tick with similar contraption? But my biggest question is what would have been, is you load like this a grid 3x3 of chunks in the same tick? Will the middle chunk become entity processing for that tick? If so, i'd imagine it might be possible to have a portal-based chunk-loader in this midde chunk, which would have been launched remotely like this! If this is true, then you basically invented the way to load chunks anywhere in the world, and having stasis chambers + portal loaders there you can make a working single-person teleportation which is not relying on another person loading the stasis chambers/chunks to make you eligible to teleport. This might finally overcome another major problem of all chunk-loaders being turned down on server restart.
Nice to see you using the trick I discovered/s. But seriously though these tiny cannons are impressive and I don't doubt that many people have thought of this concept. So doing some maths i've found some timings For the 2nd design, it can be found out by using the equations (X-1)*7 = time to wait in minutes, where x = dropper count Ex: 2 items in dropper, (2-1)*7 -> 1*7 = 7 mins for the 2D mining machine, it can found out by using the equation ((24X * Y) + 20x)/1200 = time to wait in minutes, X is the item count in dropper "tunnel length" and Y is the barrel item count/row spacing. Ex: 72 items in tunnel length, barrel count = 48, row spacing = 4 (24*(72) * (48/4) + 20(72))/1200 -> ((1728*12) + 1440)/1200 -> (20736 + 1440)/1200 -> 22176/1200 = 18.48 minutes. Round up you'll have to wait for 19 minutes
@table5816 how can I know if it is time to load chunks and turn of the machine? I am testing the 2d version and when I load the chunks it explodes. Also how many items should I add to explode lets say 100*100 chunks? Thanks
Thank you so much for doing this! The formula(s) here have been a great boon in helping me not spend loads of extra time waiting after the canon has finished its mining job. Somehow I can't believe your comment has only 1 like, I mean, it's SO FLIPPING USEFUL from any kind of practical standpoint regarding these machines. @@PatAnderson1 No. It has to be lazyloaded when started. Docm goes over it in his video around 43:30: th-cam.com/video/4YgPMJieSA4/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared&t=2583

I'm convinced this man is too powerful. If he didn't take a hiatus for the past year tmc would already be complete, there would be nothing left to do because dark already did it better. Truly a tmc legend, welcome back!
This is not the coolest thing you've done. This is the coolest thing anyone has done. So impressive... And the fact that the redstone is also compacted so well is just ridiculous in the best way possible.

This stuff does much the same thig as a quarry - produces more deepslate than i'll ever know what to do with. Except it's about 100x easier to set up. Absolute game changer. If you lack experience with high-level technical stuff like me, i would recommendmaking a world backup or taking a schematic of your finished build to test in a creative world. These things tend to blow themselves up at the slightest mistake. Also, for the 2d one, make sure your tunnel length is more than your width (or it will blow itself up)
For me the 2D cannon works great in the overworld, but I just can't get it to work in the nether, it either makes a really long tunnel in the x direction before exploding or works, but makes first tunnel really short, next a bit longer and so on, I've made sure to make clearance tunnel in x direction and checked my schematics, but nothing helped, does someone knows if there is something I can do to fix it? Forgot to edit the comment. Turns out I was making tunnels only in front of 2x2 hole in the machine and x direction, but I also needed to make one in front of 3x1 hole (not the one with grindstone showing), this fixed it for me.
I recommend using TISCarpet "EntityTrackerInterval" set to 1, TweakerMore "disableEntityRenderInterpolation" set to true, and tweakeroo "disableClientEntityUpdates" set to true. With these, the server sends entity packets every tick, and the entities you see are forced to correspond to the those packets, instead of simulating and interpolating clientside. Game changer for showing other people what TNT machines are actually doing (and also a quality of life feature while working on them) Cool stuff 👍
Saw Doc's video, so of course I needed to come see your video. Im not likely to build this, but its such an impressive feat I had to see it. Amazing stuff; absolutely amazing...
I just came from seeing this in action on Docm77's channel. Do you realize you've designed a *Discontiguous Particle Acceleration System?* You're the friggin' *Edward Teller* of Minecraft, and I for one, am terrified! 🤣
This is such a compact TNT warping cannon! Amazing how the technology has been refined in just a short time. I'd make one for the nether, and hope most items get melted in lava.
So I built the "2d nether version" which subs out an enchanting table for the waterlogged stair in survival... Twice. Lessons learnt: 1. When I rotated my schematic, I completely forgot that TNT always moves in the x direction first and I rotated the "clearance tunnel" with the cannon. Don't do this. Make your 2x2 tunnel in the x direction regardless of the canon's orientation. 2. In theory, for maximum debris, the enchanting tables should be at y13. However, this is going to blow out the bottoms of lava lakes. Save yourself a headache and put the enchanting tables at y11 and this won't happen.
actually no, tnt moves first vertically then horizontally in the axis with the most momentum first (this changed at one point), but there is 2 clearance tunnel to dig either way for both axis, because the axis with the most momentum isn't always the same, one 1x2 tunnel and one 2x2 tunnel
hey if you got this to work could you help me troubleshoot it? im building this in my hardcore world rn and it seems to always blow itself up no matter what i do
How do we use this? Do we build a chunk loader in the light Green square and afk in the nether? Also, if you have ignited tnt in a lazy chunk which has been subjected to an explosion by a TNT in a non lazy chunk, will that that get propelled once loaded into an entity processing chunk? I really had a lot of trouble getting the second one to work in the given wdl. I turned off the explosion damage rile btw but I have no idea where to AFK [Edit] Ok, so I've been messing around with the 1D cannon which I managed to get working and the 2D cannon too. In terms of chunk loading, the chunk with the lime concrete floor is the right position relative to all the devices. The 2D cannon is on the corner of the entity processing chunks, bordering 3 lazy chunks. This is what lets the machine achieve the 2nd dimension (i think?). Build the chunk loader and get out of the area I guess. Otherwise, turn render distance down to 2 (simulation distance doesn't matter) and then move away until the lazy chunks are not visible, i.e. the chunks with red floors shouldn't be visible. They're still loaded by the game, coz if you use freecam, you can see TNT fuse particle effects and redstone particles in those lazy chunks. Then basically AFK for as long as possible. You can't really tell when the whole mining process is done without Chunk Debug, which isn't something most people would like using in survival worlds, so just AFK for as long as you can?
Yo ok I tried putting the chunk loader in the lime green chunk, and used intricarpet to turn off chunkloading (It turns it off for the player) but it didn't work. I just afk'd for 10 minutes with the tick rate cranked to 500 (Also with intricarpet) and nothing happened. The tnt stopped appearing in the cannon but also no blocks broke. Idk how thats even possible. Nvm, a lot of troubleshooting and around 30 changes later I managed to make it work.
@@orangenal he cba and he probs forgot Anyways, yeah I messed around with it and got the 2D cannon to work and did a mock build in survival. I didn’t finish coz of reasons but it was easy enough to build. In creative testing, yes, it’s definitely effective and can easily wipe out a large area in about 30 mins of afk

Would it be possible to modify any of these designs so that they DO destroy items? For ancient debris tunneling, you could cut down on a lot of lag by doing so.
For nether compatibility of the third design, just replace the waterlogged stair with an enchant table, this just makes the build a bit less idiotproof since the thing must be started already lazy loaded
One problem I ran to while using the 2D cannon is some blocks getting stuck in the barrel, making the whole thing explode no matter how long I let it run, is there a way to fix it? Edit: It seems that there always need to be more block in "tunnel length" droppers then in the barrel and "initial offset" droppers combined, or at least it fixed the problem for me.
You are amazing, have you tried upgrading to a 10fold tnt duper to make it faster, the next upgrade of this mechanic i have found was the insane endgame tunnelbore by cubicmetre and this is a bit overkill for just a mining cannon

A video following up Docm77's explanation about how to configure this and set it up for different digging situations would be lovely. For example I was wondering how configureable this would be for digging out custom perimeters as opposed to an overhead system since it seems so incredibly fast. Can they can vertically stacked effectively to do that and how would that effect the performance of it in terms of block breaking?
you go through a portal to the nether. the one you are using to lazy load the canon. Docm77 explains it well in the episode "The Court Case - Hermitcraft Season 10 Episode 19" canon design and usage starting around 31:08.
so far i understood most of it, the biggest thing, especially for the 2D Canon are the signs, im not entirely sure how the math of them works, for example does havin more Items in Tunnel Length increase the size and by how much? i tested it once and put in 3 Items after i came back it created a 200 Blocks long tunnel, now i did mess up the timing then but thats generally another concern, how can i calculate how long it takes till its finished, also does tunnel length only set the length in 1 direction or both? i want to build this one on my server but i would like to understand how big of an Area i can create with the current design
Hi! I am a Russian speaker, I write through a translator, if there are mistakes, then I apologize( So that's how much a drill that digs 1500 blocks for 1 item will charge, if you put 2 blocks in it (3000 blocks will dig out) Thanks!

Проще всего контролировать границу прогрузки с помощью чанклоадера с незер порталом, у него первое кольцо из 8 чанков прогружены полностью, а дальнее кольцо прогружены частично. Именно туда и должен заглядывать нос машины. I'm attempting to build the 2D tunneler in my SMP server. I took a schematic of it set up to work from the world download and it provides no errors (not even incorrect block states) other than replacing the waterlogged stair with another enchanting table. As far as I can tell all the inventories are filled properly. Yet despite that the scaffolding does not update when the TNT portion shifts under it, leading to the piston not shoving the TNT/observer/deepslate blocks back over and never dropping any tnt. The only thing I changed was adding a redstone repeater at the end of a line leading to a lever, pointing into where the lever usually is. Not sure what to try here. Edit: Ok, some quick testing shows that with solid blocks the pistons work correctly. Replacing them with TNT again stops it working. I'm also noticing that the "tunnel length" dropper clock thing is not pushing items between the droppers
@@hastinrhenius193 Yes, if the server doesn't have any mods that cause issues it works perfectly fine - I believe the issue I had was that I had the number of items in one of the setup portions too low.
So - how do you make it work? Does Simulation distance matter, or only render distance? In servers, do you need to take into consideration server side rendering or only client side? The last machine is between 4 border chunks, so in which of the 4 corners do you have to go for the machine to work? You mentioned in a comment that the tnt has to be already lazy loaded for the last machine in the nether, how could you make that happen? Just with a trail of redstone and a lever?
Simplest way is to build a chunkloader 1 chunk away, diagonnaly for the las design, this way you dont have to stay around while it's processing, and yea for the nether, either a redstone line, or an item on a pressure that activates the canon when it despawns, giving you time to leave the area, also i'd suggest putting the tnt last when building this thing, so you dont mess things up

So doing some maths i've found some timings
For the 2nd design, it can be found out by using the equations (X-1)*7 = time to wait in minutes, where x = dropper count
Ex: 2 items in dropper, (2-1)*7 -> 1*7 = 7 mins
for the 2D mining machine, it can found out by using the equation ((24X * Y) + 20x)/1200 = time to wait in minutes, X is the item count in dropper "tunnel length" and Y is the barrel item count/row spacing.
Ex: 72 items in tunnel length, barrel count = 48, row spacing = 4
(24*(72) * (48/4) + 20(72))/1200 -> ((1728*12) + 1440)/1200 -> (20736 + 1440)/1200 -> 22176/1200 = 18.48 minutes. Round up you'll have to wait for 19 minutes

When you flip the lever, do you fly away to unload the chunks and then wait 19 minutes for the Example on the 2D machine?
@@PatAnderson1 No. It has to be lazyloaded when started. Docm goes over it in his video around 43:30: th-cam.com/video/4YgPMJieSA4/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared&t=2583

Just when you thought Dark coun't get any more impressive, he makes a quarry you can build in 20 mins and a 7-block device that allows you to travel back in time!
Хюнд
I'm convinced this man is too powerful. If he didn't take a hiatus for the past year tmc would already be complete, there would be nothing left to do because dark already did it better. Truly a tmc legend, welcome back!
Clearly he went on a hiatus for a year to give everyone else a chance (im kidding btw)
I don’t get it does this have to be in lazy chanks ?
clearly if he didn't there would have already been 50 new falling block methods
still living up to your name of engineering dark (magic) into the game, glad to see you back
nice NTFs btw
This is not the coolest thing you've done. This is the coolest thing anyone has done.
So impressive... And the fact that the redstone is also compacted so well is just ridiculous in the best way possible.
came over from docm77, awesome thing you designed. glad that he showed it in his video :)
what video was it
@@travisferrin Docm77 starts talking about it around 31:08 in "The Court Case - Hermitcraft Season 10 Episode 19": th-cam.com/video/4YgPMJieSA4/w-d-xo.html

Also, for the 2d one, make sure your tunnel length is more than your width (or it will blow itself up)
I'm so glad you are back with more quality contraptions. Huge fan of your designs!!
Damn. It had been a while since last time you made a video and im glad to see you’re still making GIGA BRAIN contraptions.
such a simple thing to build, yet it packs a very powerful punch to even the toughest of deepslate
After more than a year he is back!!
how to use it in survival ?
I recommend using TISCarpet "EntityTrackerInterval" set to 1, TweakerMore "disableEntityRenderInterpolation" set to true, and tweakeroo "disableClientEntityUpdates" set to true.
With these, the server sends entity packets every tick, and the entities you see are forced to correspond to the those packets, instead of simulating and interpolating clientside.
Game changer for showing other people what TNT machines are actually doing (and also a quality of life feature while working on them)
Cool stuff 👍

Hi dark!!! your shulker farm is still working for me hahah! nice to see ur back, I have plans to use ur bonemeal generator too. cool design!
I just came from seeing this in action on Docm77's channel. Do you realize you've designed a *Discontiguous Particle Acceleration System?*
You're the friggin' *Edward Teller* of Minecraft, and I for one, am terrified! 🤣
this is unbelievably cool and so far above my head it could be a space ship. Awesome stuff!
This is such a compact TNT warping cannon! Amazing how the technology has been refined in just a short time.
I'd make one for the nether, and hope most items get melted in lava.
So I built the "2d nether version" which subs out an enchanting table for the waterlogged stair in survival... Twice.
Lessons learnt:
@@_darkvictor_ oh got it. My mistake. I remembered it moved somewhere first always. I guess that was vertical.
@@madman2572it used to work just like you said like y then x then z

Welcome back!
The king is back
The items frozen in air as you fly past is epic! Nice work Dark ^^
Wow, this is amazing! Great job!!!
Like the first canon, you just turn it on, leave it in a lazy chunk and when ur done waiting ur just loading it and its finished? Crazey
I turned off the explosion damage rile btw but I have no idea where to AFK
[Edit]
Ok, so I've been messing around with the 1D cannon which I managed to get working and the 2D cannon too.
@@shadowpanther298 how did you get it to work?
@@orangenal he cba and he probs forgot
Anyways, yeah I messed around with it and got the 2D cannon to work and did a mock build in survival.

Great job
I saw water in the 2D one it would be so nice to have it nether compatible
For nether compatibility of the third design, just replace the waterlogged stair with an enchant table, this just makes the build a bit less idiotproof since the thing must be started already lazy loaded
@@_darkvictor_ Is there any reason why it can't just be a lava source block that I'm missing?
@@WhytefangYT Its a waterlogged stair, you can't lavalog stairs (or anything) unfortunately lol.
@@shadowpanther298 I'm aware, I meant literally just a lava source block.
One problem I ran to while using the 2D cannon is some blocks getting stuck in the barrel, making the whole thing explode no matter how long I let it run, is there a way to fix it?
Edit: It seems that there always need to be more block in "tunnel length" droppers then in the barrel and "initial offset" droppers combined, or at least it fixed the problem for me.
yes exactly tunnel length shouldn't be shorter than the width, thats a limitation of this canon
You are amazing, have you tried upgrading to a 10fold tnt duper to make it faster, the next upgrade of this mechanic i have found was the insane endgame tunnelbore by cubicmetre and this is a bit overkill for just a mining cannon
Can you show how to use this in survival? How to unload the chunk etc? Thanks
Heres a tutorial for ya. (this is only for the 2d cannon, but chances are that'll be the one you want to test with and use)
Ok so first off, youll want to grab the items from the dropper BEHIND the dropper labeled with "Tunnel Length" Then put them into the dropper labeled Tunnel Length.
Next, put a chunk loader in the chunk one SOUTH of the chunk full of lime green concrete. Turn on chunk borders with F3+G (Dark has a good chunk loader design in his channel, so id suggest using that one.
flip the lever on the 2D blaster and go into the chunk loader portal
AFK for roughly 1.5 hours, tho id give it 2 just to be safe
pop back through the chunk loader portal.
It should work, if it doesn't, check to make sure you have no mods installed.
to modify length, width, and distance between, just follow the instructions on the in world signs. to tell how long it will take, it can found out by using the equation ((24X * Y) + 20x)/1200 = time to wait in minutes, X is the item count in dropper "tunnel length" and Y is the barrel item count/row spacing. (credit to @table5816 for this genius equation)
hope this helped.
Extra tips/requirements:
-Make sure the number of items in the "Tunnel length" dropper is greater than the number of items in the "Tunnel width" barrel combine with the number of items in the "initial offset" dropper
-Installing carpet and intricarpet can help a lot with testing, making use of the "/interaction chunkloading false" and "/tick rat" commands specifically, this can speed up the game and let you run the machine without moving your player.
-If you have modifications, it might not work. Anything fabric, minihud, litematica, or carpet related should be safe, but if you followed all the previous steps and it still isn't working in the test world, try it in vanilla.
-If you want to build it in survival, just reply to this comment asking and ill type up a comment on how to do that. (I saw your comment, I will work on another copypasta for this later, as its late right now)

A video following up Docm77's explanation about how to configure this and set it up for different digging situations would be lovely.
For example I was wondering how configureable this would be for digging out custom perimeters as opposed to an overhead system since it seems so incredibly fast. Can they can vertically stacked effectively to do that and how would that effect the performance of it in terms of block breaking?
amazing job dude
How do you unload the chunks in vanilla minecraft so you can use the cannon
you go through a portal to the nether. the one you are using to lazy load the canon. Docm77 explains it well in the episode "The Court Case - Hermitcraft Season 10 Episode 19" canon design and usage starting around 31:08.
so far i understood most of it, the biggest thing, especially for the 2D Canon are the signs, im not entirely sure how the math of them works, for example does havin more Items in Tunnel Length increase the size and by how much? i tested it once and put in 3 Items after i came back it created a 200 Blocks long tunnel, now i did mess up the timing then but thats generally another concern, how can i calculate how long it takes till its finished, also does tunnel length only set the length in 1 direction or both? i want to build this one on my server but i would like to understand how big of an Area i can create with the current design
dark slays tbh
Awesome design, is there a specific way to build this because this seems pretty survival world friendly.

Will it work on servers?

Simplest way is to build a chunkloader 1 chunk away, diagonnaly for the las design, this way you dont have to stay around while it's processing, and yea for the nether, either a redstone line, or an item on a pressure that activates the canon when it despawns, giving you time to leave the area, also i'd suggest putting the tnt last when building this thing, so you dont mess things up

it should definitely be fine, after all he's on a low-end pc and recording at the same time and it was able to handle tick warps left right and center. hopefully your server isn't from the 1800s. if you know the server's cpu, go onto passmark and search it up. e.g. this guy's is the i3-1005g1, which has a rating of 5000, which is pretty bad. a 100$ ryzen 5600x has a rating of 20k
