There are 3 reasons. 1) Using a belt and pulley Because even a small motor can increase torque. 2) If I connect the ball screw and the motor directly with a coupling, it will be longer and the size of the machine will be increased. 3) Backlash occurs when using gears, but basically there is no backlash when using a belt and Quiet.
Brilliant! Amazing build. I was looking for some guide on 5-axis CNC unit without a full size PC. I've seen people using mother and daughter Mesa cards with full size desktops, I do not want that. I saw that you're using Raspberry pi with Mesa7c81 which I found really amazing and compact. Can you please share the schematic diagram of connections between Raspberry pi, Mesa7c81 and stepper motor drivers. I've never used Raspberry pi before in any project but got Linuxcnc installed and running by watching your course on teachable. I'm using Nema 23 with TB6600 driver.
Thank you. Unfortunately, there is no accurate record of the wiring. I am planning to make a new CNC unit and publish it, but I don't know when I will have time to do it.
I use Fusion360. The settings of linuxcnc differ depending on the machine. If you want to use linuxcnc on your own machine, you have to understand it. Information can be found on the website. I don't know much about it too, but I've spent a lot of time.
Thank you for your comment. I have received the same comments from several people. However, there are still many improvements to this machine. I want to remake it if possible. If I can remake it, I am confident that I can make something even more amazing.
So far i don't create any assembly guide. This machine is made by trial and error. There are various improvements, so there are no plans to publish details. If I can remake it, I may publish it.
Bro i want firmware for that 5 axis cnc machine I want to get all 5 axis work done in my cnc but I am not getting firmware for my machine please me out I am tired of searching of it
It looks like you're having a hard time. I understand your feelings. I also had a lot of trouble with control. I'm not familiar with programming, so I can't explain it in detail. At first, I also tried to control 6 stepper motors using Beaglebone CRAMPS, but only 5 stepper motors worked. After spending a lot of time investigating, I found a defective solder. I've never used an Arduino so I don't know. Have you considered linuxcnc or MACH?
Pretty interesting build, using worm gear will always comes with some backlash, my initial build using worm gear as well which comes with somewhere between 2-3 arcmin in in C and 20-30 arc sec in A, these backlash created quite a lot of rigidity problem during my works on metal parts, especially surface quality, but not significant if I’m working on wood/plastic. I’m looking forward to switch to something like Sankyo RA CAM reducer which have zero backlash. Anyways nice build, is always inspiring to see such a build with limited equipment in house. 今後の改良も楽しみしています、頑張ってください👍
Worm gears are tough, but backlash is also a problem.as you say. I knew this was a problem that had to be resolved from the planning stage. I've kept this secret until now, but the fact is that the AC axis worm gear is applied preload to eliminate backlash. In the next video, I will show you everything including that part. 日本人の方ですか?
@@a-cnc-f 日本人じゃないですけど、よくアニメをみてや旅行に行ったことが多いですから日本語も大部慣れてきたなので😄 Interesting to know wormgear can do preload as well, I thought those were only available if the gear is made of steal whereas most of them are made of brass? Yes, both tough and self lock is precious in wormgear design, but desktop build in general don’t have any brake at all, so I’ve never get a near satisfied surface from my own built with wormgear table(dual lead wormgear), also rotation deviation created yet another huge bunch of problem for my build in the last three years as well, I used to calibrate the center of rotation with ball bar once a few days or even everyday sometimes, the offset of rotation center is vibrating couple few thousands of inches when doing metal works, probably a better bearing could helps as well. I’ve just purchased two rollerdrive last month and looking forward to get it swapped, don’t know how it performs compared to wormgear, but this whole process of playing with 5 axis is really happy in general XD.
@@a-cnc-f haha thx, yeah, the most important thing is enjoy the process for making and all of those trials & fails. looking forward to further videos, play happy, play safe XD.
This machine is made by trial and error. There are various improvements, so we do not plan to publish the details. If it can be recreated, it may be published. I will do my best to meet my expectations someday.
For the touch off sensor, I would not trust those microswitches. I disassembled my touch off sensor, it's just a spring loaded hook. If the tool touches the plate the spring loaded hook will be disconnected. See: i.snipboard.io/QGl6Lm.jpg I think something like that would be better suitable for your project (and it's not so difficult)

fusion360
Yes I want to see what inside a C AXIS make video on it bro.
I will upload it in a few days.
Very nice and compact and cool. What are the songs/music in this video?
Thank you
TH-cam's audio library, which uses music for free, also uses songs.
Amazing build! I'm wondering why the axis are driven using belts instead of directly driving them?
There are 3 reasons.
1) Using a belt and pulley Because even a small motor can increase torque.
2) If I connect the ball screw and the motor directly with a coupling, it will be longer and the size of the machine will be increased.
3) Backlash occurs when using gears, but basically there is no backlash when using a belt and Quiet.
@@a-cnc-f thanks for the inside!
How to make it in pin to pin details
@@a-cnc-f can you refer to any article or video for connections. I'm having hard time reading the manual.
@@a-cnc-f looking forward to that build
Make video on c axis I want to see please show fully c axis in video
How much did it cost to build?
I'm remaking various things so I don't know how much it cost.
about $1500~$2000 ???
nice build! how do you write your code for machining? Do you use Fusion360? Could you make a video how to setup LinuxCNC for 5axis? :)
I use Fusion360.
The settings of linuxcnc differ depending on the machine.
If you want to use linuxcnc on your own machine, you have to understand it.
Information can be found on the website.
I don't know much about it too, but I've spent a lot of time.
Pls is there a build vidoe
There is some information.

Wish there was any step by step guide to build 5 axis cnc
Thank you for your comment.
I have received the same comments from several people.
However, there are still many improvements to this machine.
I want to remake it if possible.
If I can remake it, I am confident that I can make something even more amazing.
Awesome CNC Freak thank you for your effort.I have already made my diy 3axis.I am looking to improve by making 5axis.
Awesome dude 👏👏👏
Any change to0o make a build and installation guide?
So far i don't create any assembly guide.
This machine is made by trial and error. There are various improvements, so there are no plans to publish details.
If I can remake it, I may publish it.
Very nice.
What's your name on the lcnc list?
Thx Mike

What is this meen?
The linuxcnc forum.
@@michaeleitel7186 It's my nickname.
The linuxcnc forum great people helped me with TCP.
I am very, very grateful.
So cringy yet so hard core.
Good job dude 👍👍
Which firmware and hadware are you using to control the CNC?
th-cam.com/video/g-fzD8sEcIk/w-d-xo.html
How much did it all cost to make this machine?
I don't know, maybe $2000.
Bro make a video on C axis
日本人の方ですか?
@@a-cnc-f 日本人じゃないですけど、よくアニメをみてや旅行に行ったことが多いですから日本語も大部慣れてきたなので😄
Interesting to know wormgear can do preload as well, I thought those were only available if the gear is made of steal whereas most of them are made of brass?
You are also trying various things.
I don't think my work is always correct, but I hope it helps.
日本語上手いですね!
漢字も使えていて、自然な日本語だったので日本人だと思いました。
@@a-cnc-f haha thx, yeah, the most important thing is enjoy the process for making and all of those trials & fails. looking forward to further videos, play happy, play safe XD.
y axis wobble is INSANE
Wawoo...!! what is your motion controller for 5axis machine.?
Motion controller is linuxCNC.
Upload the Making video sir
This machine is made by trial and error. There are various improvements, so we do not plan to publish the details.
If it can be recreated, it may be published.
I will do my best to meet my expectations someday.
For the touch off sensor, I would not trust those microswitches. I disassembled my touch off sensor, it's just a spring loaded hook. If the tool touches the plate the spring loaded hook will be disconnected.
See:
i.snipboard.io/QGl6Lm.jpg
I think something like that would be better suitable for your project (and it's not so difficult)
Thank you for your advice.
As you say, the accuracy of the touch sensor is not very good.
It ’s one of the improvements in the future.

Thanks for your comment.
It is not so expensive if there is an environment where parts can be processed.
Something else was too loud too... the music
Oshawa mandates earplugs lmao
I’m about to buy a mini lathe and I was need any information on which one I should get
Thanks for the comment.
I don't know what kind of lathe you should buy because I don't know what you intend to use the lathe for.
@@a-cnc-f looking for one to make gears an stuff for my rc speed cars
What is the code
What do you mean?
the code?
This machine work with G-code.
OS is Linuxcnc.
nice but way to small for me.
Lot of backslash in a axis without harmonic drive. This machine is useless for machining something a little hard.
And yet it exists, proving kinematics and concepts that most people only dream of ever producing..
