@@slimytoad0803I remember as a little kid living on the reservation I’m from, my cousins and I would go to the river across the highway and do clay masks (there was like a clay spot) on our face and body and it would be so soft after!!
This was a beautiful video. I love watching pottery vids but this SENT ME. the music mixed with the actual video makes me want to sip tea and relax. And also get dirty and harvest clay.
i’ve been thinking of getting into sculpting and this reminded me of scraping up red clay in my elementary school field, waiting for the peak of spring to find flowers and pulling pine needles off of trees through the fence
I made an ashtray for my mom out of clay in the backyard. She loved it, even painted it for her. It was special for her because her great grandmother was a Native American who made pottery for her whole Tribe. We still have some of her pottery but it’s extremely brittle
I live in georgia, we have beautiful red clay like this, and some grey clay; still haven't processed clay myself, but I've been wanting to for years now lol
Super informative video my dear, not only does this make beautiful artwork we run into a apocalypse. This information will help a lot of people be able to preserve, carry and store things bravo.
Where I grew up a large chunk of our dirt on the farm was clay and It rained a lot so I could collect it wet and make things from it! Always a fun time ❤
We used to dig this up in elementary school underneath our sand pits. We would wet paper towel and put the red clay inside and bring it into the classroom. I grew up in Phoenix, Arizona.LOL ❤😂❤
When we were about 10, my friends an I did pottery with some clay we found behind the school. We lived on a marine clay deposit, so you never had to dig deep to find some rich bluegray clay. We didnt refine it, we just formed it right there with some water from a puddle or a water bottle. We got realy creative, making bowls, vases and candlesticks, then drying them in on some paper on our wardrobe shelf. The teachers got real mad at the mess we made. Bringing in mud and dirtying the sinks, I do understand them now. I think this was a missed learning opportunity. You could have gone the science route, why was there such good clay in our schoolyard. You could have gone the pottery route, of comparing the local clay to the pottery clay, maybe trying to refine it or fire some pieces. Alas, we had to stick to the curriculum, and there probably wasnt any teachers who knew more about pottery than the very basic. Our 9th grade crafts teacher might have done something with such an interest, but we did not play with mud at that age. Also that was the year the kiln set the school on fire, soo... The building did not burn down, that year.
That’s crazy, because I’m from Peru and when I was little I remember they would take me to these like rivers to play and stuff, and my favorite part was making stuff out of the “ arcilla” and I just realized that IT WAS CLAYYYY lol !! Like it was at the edge of the river, it was hard to get in because it was slippery but once you were in the water it was awesome to play with it, I would be playing with the “ arcilla” instead of actually playing in the water 🥺🥺 man I miss those days
I never knew there was domestic clay, and wild Clay very interesting
Yes! Its coarser than store bought clay
@@slimytoad0803I remember as a little kid living on the reservation I’m from, my cousins and I would go to the river across the highway and do clay masks (there was like a clay spot) on our face and body and it would be so soft after!!

We usex to collect clay from the ditch across the street from my house when I was a kid. I seem to remember collecting blue clay as well at that time.
The earth literally gives us everything for free😢❤

Part of me wants to put it on my face….. part of me wants to eat it 😂
I don’t know it took such a long process, but it’s fun to think that I have some clay just like that and gray clay just in my backyard!
Where I live we have a huge amount of clay in our creeks, streams and hillsides. It’s all a beautiful soft blue.
We used to dig this up in elementary school underneath our sand pits. We would wet paper towel and put the red clay inside and bring it into the classroom. I grew up in Phoenix, Arizona.LOL ❤😂❤

I use to play with this when I am child
That’s neat
It's advisable to dry the wet clay first before you add water, its easier to wet that way.
I love your voice, u sound like max caulfield 🦋
Girls whispering so much I can’t get the wsps out of my ear 💀 dAMN
It’s not meant to be watched, you’re supposed to hold the speaker of your phone up to your ear 😉
Theres red clay all over where we live.... in the ozarks.... never knew it was comsidered "wild" since its everywhere.

In my tradition we call it ocre, ocre is a form of paint that can be used to paint your body, face and painting on walls!
The Nara Smith of pottery
How did this turn out? Did the yellow clay fire at the same temp as the red clay? Did the yellow clay even show up?
