I first heard this song waiting in my father's gas station in '68, I was 8 years old. When the song ended the mechanic who was listening nearby stated "man, that guy" (speaking of singer) "is gonna be
great some day". This song brings back this memory.

I agree in many ways, to what you said. Music is definitely a bit of magic.
As I’ve gotten older, I appreciate CCR more and more. One of the most underrated bands in my opinion
Agreed, it’s my favorite band, and it is sad that it doesn’t get more attention
But they do get attention! Every day 24 - 7 somewhere a Creedence song is played on the radio. 100 years from now their music will
still be played as long as people are here a Creedence song will always be played somewhere every minute of every day ❤

This Song never get old. It always sound fresh and flows like River.
Ccr is bossin.
Agree.
Flows like the river. Yes! Someone else gets that the smooth rhythm of the song represents the flow of the river that Proud Mary is moving across. Also say Ch Ch Ch etc in time with the rhythm and this is the slap of the paddle wheel on the water. When Elvis and Tina sing a tricked up version, they mangle it because these issues that are at the heart of the song are lost.
A tak to má být ! Ta písnička opravdu plyne jak ta řeka. Úžasný, nádherný, nadčasový.🎶

shame that the Label screwed them over so bad. They are the reason we know more about contracts. When they signed... the label paid them $40,000 per year - that's $10,000 per member AND the label owed their songs. It was just horrible. The label went through a few owners, but they were all shitty people who only cared about money. At one point John Feggherty was sued over copyright infringement on one of HIS SONGS. It's f*cked up.

Left a good job in the city
Working for the man every night and day
And I never lost one minute of sleeping
Worrying 'bout the way things might have been
Big wheel, keep on turning
Proud Mary, keep on burning
Rolling, rolling, rolling on the river
Cleaned a lot of plates in Memphis
Pumped a lot of pain down in New Orleans
But I never saw the good side of the city
Until I hitched a ride on a river boat queen
Big wheel, keep on turning
Proud Mary, keep on burning
Rolling, rolling, rolling on the river
Rolling, rolling, rolling on the river
If you come down to the river
Bet you gonna find some people who live
You don't have to worry 'cause you have no money
People on the river are happy to give
Big wheel, keep on turning
Proud Mary, keep on burning
Rolling, rolling, rolling on the river
Rolling, rolling, rolling on the river
Rolling, rolling, rolling on the river
Rolling, rolling, rolling on the river
It’s incorrect in the video. It’s “pumped a lot of 'tane”. To younger people: it’s short for octane, an alternative term for petrol or gas. It’s talking about pumping gas back when it was a job, when gas stations did that for you. It’s fairly recent that you could pump your own gas in all 50 states.
I thought it was pain (loneliness) that he was pumpin’ on a New Orleans lady of the night. (NOLA is world famous for houses of sin) Anyway, that’s how I’ll remember it.

When I was much younger in the early 1970's, two of my cousins and I decided to form a 'Band," this was the song we chose to sing. My one cousin could play the guitar and we improvised me playing a Tambourine, and her tapping on whatever she could as a drum. ( A tree was always available.) Needless to say as time went by, he learned to play the Bass Guitar and played at various dances with a local Band. Later he also learned how to play the drums, and just recently retired from being the Drummer for one of our areas most popular local Bands. This is after getting to make several trips to France with the Band that is still quite popular in France.
Life goes on, and even though 'our Band' never got off of the ground, I have to say that I am very proud of the one member who did make our "Dream" come true. God Bless You.
And i was a Racing driver back in 80's...
I even had a race with Nikki Lauda, I was in a RX-7 FC (Stock) and he was in his MP4/2. The race was 5H long without any break we kept on going to race each other and then when the last round came.... I won with 7 Minutes difference between me and him. Later on I worked as "The Stig" on Top Gear (2002-2015) and by the way I drove some downhill races in Japan, Chinese, Austria, Swiss, America and Canada. I have a net worth a of 109,9 Billion.
The last word what Nikki said to me was "Du kleiner mieser lügner, jedes wort ist gelogen !"...
