The guys that wear fancy clothes are called "Skhothane", they splurge on fancy, designer clothes only to burn them in "dance competitions" with rival Skhothane clans. Skhothane culture gained popularity around 2010 when it received national news coverage and was used as a concept for a Nandos advertisement, many people did not understand the reason behind buying such expensive clothes only to trash them, especially seeing as many of the Skhothanes were from poor and working class families, as a result the majority of South Africans rejected the Skhothane culture, which would basically die off as the years went by. It is still pretty rife in a few parts of the country though.
