Is there a way to add ear flaps to this beanie? My 9 year old chose this yarn for a beanie but wants earflaps, and I can’t find a pattern using this yarn.
Finished this beanie yesterday with plain white Red Heart Chunky.. It turned out to be my most favorite beanie yet and my entire family wants one now. Thanks Mikey! I'm making another one now. Trying with regular#4 yarn this time. 😎👍
You go so fast but I completely understood!!! I must say the way you talk through the front and back post stitches FINALLY made sense to me!!! I’ve Come across a lot of other patterns and video tutorials using front and back post and I get discouraged but just hearing the way you talk through the stitch completely made sense and I’m so excited for that!!!
Great instructions, and as a beginner I am so happy to find your youtube videos . I completed my hat and it turned out really nice. I used the colorway Caron Tea Cakes Green Tea and now I am going to make the matching scarf ( smaller though) My daughters are so happy I am learning this hobby. I really appreciate your instructions and teachers like you. Thanks so much!
As a beginner the instructions were very clear! Made the hat with a different yarn which was not an issue at all! The hat is beautiful! Thank you so much! ❤️
Made mine with a caron big cakes, its a thinner yarn but I used a similar technique to do one more row of increase and ended up with 20 "v" stitches around, and it worked perfectly.
Hi Mikey love this hat and scarf will do for friends for Christmas gifts,or for charity like yourself, thanks so much for sharing, best wishes from Ireland.😁😁
Love your videos..I just made this hat today but did only 2 rows for the brim. My brim stitches are wonky(not lined up/kinda leaning) but this is part of learning. Personally, I don't think you talk too fast...I am from Pittsburgh and we all talk fast. I have learned to watch videos first, then watch and do together. Thanks for all the great tutorials and Happy 2019!
Mikey, this is a really cool hat. I like it a lot, but let me share something with you that I find quite helpful. I don't use a darning needle to hide my loose ends. I use what looks like a plastic needle, but it has the eye that runs the length of the needle. It is quite pliable and works just as well as a regular darning needle, but much easier to thread. I think I bought these at Hobby Lobby. They are not at all expensive and come usually, if I remember correctly, in packs of three different sizes or you might be able to find them singly. Soooo much easier to use than a darning needle. Try it and you won't ever want to go back to a regular darning needle. Also, I keep them in an empty prescription bottle. They fit quite nicely in there along with darning needles if you wish to keep them together as well.
Thank you for sharing your easy to follow tutorial with me, in the wee small hours, while I am wide awake in a dream, so to speak. I have just finished crocheting your hat pattern. I used two strands of DK Yarn as did not have the Caron Cake yarn you had suggested. It turned out quite soft and stretchy. I used a pain that colour. Photo will be in my Instagram where I will mention your tutorial name.
I can not find this yarn anywhere. I went to my local Michaels and they don’t have Tea Cakes. They have Caron other kinds of cakes but not Tea Cakes and not that color. That’s a bummer. I really like that color of yarn.
I’d like to make this hat and matching scarf using Red Heart SS Ombre which is a 4 medium. Can I create the same beautiful hat using this yarn and if so, what should my gauge be?
I'm unsure as the gauge would be different which includes the height of the stitches and number of rounds needed. It would have to be researched and trials. Without doing the research and testing trials, I'm unsure what exactly needs to be changed and the differences between this version and a new re-write. I'm sorry.
It is not clear of where im suppose to add stitches or just simply do a slip stitch. On the 4th row i ended up with 14 V puff stiches not 12 like you said. I'm using two small size 4 yarns so i dont want to back track to find out where i lost track... It seems easy but its hard to keep up with you going fast!
Loved the tutorial. Made it the hat, however, it turned out to be small. Do you have written instructions to follow? If you could slow down a little would make it easier to follow along! Thanks
I can't seem to download the pattern. How many yards of yarn for just the hat & how many yards for the scarf? I have 340 yards of a different bulky #6 yarn.
I'm pretty sure the free pattern link is broken. It just takes me in circles. I really don't want to start this if I don't have enough yarn 😢 It is a beautiful set though.
Glynda Bradley I tried it with a smaller hook and thread; the hat came out baby sized. Going to start over and double the stitch count. Maybe that will help.
Nien Marlina puff stitches are a bit hard if you've never made one. I find a way that teaches the stitch, then I practice and make a square or rectangle, just get used to it. I use sampler squares I make for coasters and such OR stitch them together and let it grow to something I like. Put an easy border around it and it looks like a plan! Personally, My hands get tired and hurt making these stitches, so I'm just here to admire. But I think it's worth learning because it makes a squishy, soft and cozy fabric!

Sometimes it's nice to have a quick pattern. This will do it for me. Thanks from Australia 🐨👍🏼

I love your tutorials, you make it look so easy. Thank you for teaching these crochet patterns.

Going to Michaels in Oakville today to get me some!!!
Made my first beanie with the tea cakes! It's a bit small so I'll need to adjust the pattern. I think I can get two beanies out of one cake!!
how did you adjust it? Mine is too small as well
Love this. I’m starting on it this weekend.
Could you let me know how many yards you needed?
I love this So cute! Thank you for sharing this :)

Very nice hat and tutorial, but my hat turned out too small. I added an extra row at the crown to make it larger. Thanks.
Love it!
👍Mikey! Good job as usual☺.
Luv yah💕
Is the beautiful "Caron tea cakes" yarn you're using a "4" or "6" weight? thank you
I can not find this yarn anywhere. I went to my local Michaels and they don’t have Tea Cakes. They have Caron other kinds of cakes but not Tea Cakes and not that color. That’s a bummer. I really like that color of yarn.
I wish i could add a picture of the two i just made
So i did the scarf on a thinner yarn but unfortunately the hat doesn't work with q thinner yarn 😭😭 or maybe i just couldn't figure it out
I’d like to make this hat and matching scarf using Red Heart SS Ombre which is a 4 medium. Can I create the same beautiful hat using this yarn and if so, what should my gauge be?

I am in
Are you able to include the yarnspiration pattern here in your videos?
Can I still work this pattern using "Caron Cakes" ? Its a medium 4 size.
Mikey, is this super bulky yarn weight 6? I have other yarn I need to use up.
It is not clear of where im suppose to add stitches or just simply do a slip stitch. On the 4th row i ended up with 14 V puff stiches not 12 like you said. You can start and stop the video when needed.
Mine turned out small too.
Sreepad04 you can slow the video down on the option for the video
Mine are small too. I will probably add another increase row?
I did start the scarf but don't know how to end.
Would like to make the matching scarf but can't find your pattern mikey

It's not available yet... should be soon over the next few days. :D
Is this chunky yarn?
I can't seem to download the pattern. How many yards of yarn for just the hat & how many yards for the scarf? I have 340 yards of a different bulky #6 yarn.
I'm pretty sure the free pattern link is broken. It just takes me in circles. I really don't want to start this if I don't have enough yarn 😢
It is a beautiful set though.

Is there a written pattern for this somewhere
Yes for sure. All of our videos have our free pattern for the item shown in the video description. You will find it there.
Where do we find the scarf tutorial you said there is? can't find it!!!!
i can't find the scarf pattern did you?
Nope, not anywhere
where is the scarf
Mine is small as well, does not fit an adult’s head.
Paula Fontenelle I had to undo it I am using a dk yarn
What is the size this hat
Can this be done in a medium weight yarn with a smaller hook?
Glynda Bradley I tried it with a smaller hook and thread; the hat came out baby sized. Going to start over and double the stitch count. Maybe that will help.
He mine was same very small I wounded why
The wool does not look that thick for a size 8mm
😍🥰💖💖💖
the scarf pattern just type in artsy puff and it will give you a choice of scarf or hat
شكرا رااااائعة
What color is used in the sample with the green? I can't seem to find that color cake? Were 2 colors used?
It is the oolong colour x
I looked at the oolong color and it doesn't look like it.. Can't find this color 😢
Good tutorial but u r talking too fast!
I agree I think this video is for advanced crocheters lol
At your setting icon you can adjust the speed. Just like hitting the K stops the video
The yarn has been discontinued.
😍💙😍💙😍💙😍💙😍💙
It's too small and narrow!!
Does not really seem like a hat exclusive to femmes.
So fast
No... you go tooooo fast.. everytime you said "it's super easy.." I don't think so...😭😭😭😭

Mikey, great tutorials as always but can you stop call it charity. no one wants to be seen as a charity case.
Awesome Hat! I made two today, Thank You!
