There is no way its leagal to ban a senator from doing his elected duties because he executed his right to free speach during time that gaven to him to speak his opinion.
I am from Ralston’s district. The corruption was real. He did things as a lawyer that would’ve gotten anyone else disbarred. Both parties loved him so much because he most certainly granted them back room political favors to get things passed as speaker. His opposition always magically went away after a private meeting. The funny part was when he died, they fought like cats and dogs over who was his friend the hardest; trying to claim his endorsement from the grave. His widow ended up running to fill his seat merely by removing the ‘David’ from the campaign materials and just using ‘Ralston’. They all lost. Now his good ol’ boys left in the senate are trying to run things like he did. They need to be removed as well.
@ Yeah I can think of a few right away, but policy arguments are always highly subjective. I’ll still take the bait though and give one less divisive example. The bill they advertised as “eliminating the birthday tax” on vehicle registration, but it was really about eliminating the perceived tax advantage of private vehicle sellers. It was heavily lobbied by dealerships. Now we pay the tag fee plus the birthday tax, or whatever the state says the value of the used vehicle is upfront. My original comment was more directed towards how he got his bills passed, and personally seeing him on the town dining with dignitaries while the local restaurants rolled out the red carpet for him. It became known that if you needed your legal proceedings delayed indefinitely, he was your go to lawyer.
Ok so was he a lawyer or a congressman or both? The speaker of the house is voted in by other members of the House of Representatives an the House of Representatives can remove the speaker if they want. the speaker of the house determines which bills are addressed in the House of Representatives so he seemed to be keeping everyone in the house happy what was he doing that was so corrupt?

Lt. Governor Burt Jones defended Moore’s right to attend the session stating “Whatever personal differences Senator Moore has with others, he is a member of the body over which I preside. They cannot bar him. He can be censured, which truly holds no weight or fines, but CANNOT stop him as they did today. You simply CANNOT remove a sitting Senator from Chamber or impede his ability to work for his constituents. They must allow him entrance. They are now in Contempt. This could go as high as the Supreme Court of GA.
So, freedom of speech is not allowed in the Georgia Senate? 😂 Just because you don't agree with the dude, doesn't mean you can violate/impede his duties/rights.

It was heavily lobbied by dealerships. Now we pay the tag fee plus the birthday tax, or whatever the state says the value of the used vehicle is upfront.

The constitution has been desecrated for decades, people en mass simply are ignorant to tbe fact. Our founding fathers wouldn't have put up with it.
evidently an allegedly corrupt, life-time politician and lawyer's good name is more important than free speech. What's even more disgusting is that the late speaker's legacy and memory is apparently more important than the voices of 200,000 Georgia and American Citizens to be represented by their duly and legally elected representative, and that of the Higher House of congress too.... Really goes to show you how these Good Ol' Boy Dixie-RINOs care more about their elite class and reputation than the voices of their AMERICAN constituents.
The Georgia speaker and the police that kept him from representing Georgia constituents should be fired and stripped of their pensions.
I agree if they lost their pensions they would definitely sing a different tune.
"Journalists found that over the course of 21 cases, Ralston requested delays 57 times, and that on 76 of the 93 conflicting days, the legislature was not in session; he would commonly delay individual cases over a dozen times each. Charges against Ralston's clients who benefited from this include drunk driving, child molestation, and assault."
This was just one of many reported issues with Ralston, it was also reported that he used his political power to benefit his law firm by claiming scheduling conflicts thus allowing him to delay court cases repeatedly while his clients walked free on bond for years, he would do this until evidence would expire. For this specific reason people would seek to retain him; you could molest children free of penalty so long as you had Ralston on retainer.
The fact that so many members support him in spite of this is disturbing. It really seems like local/state governments are rampant with corruption like this and lack the same legal and journalistic scrutiny that the federal government is held to.
@@rhinorawkjocktorderky3006 this seems to be a common theme running among our politicians in America nowadays. There has to be a reckoning.
Cops need to be sued, fired and barred from ever working as police again. The two who shoved him should be sued and charged for assault.
I’m sure they’ll just say “I was just following orders”.
Qualified immunity.

That is for the Federal reps and senators but it is mirrored by every State Constitution for there level and is required by the federal Constitution though several other parts. First Amendment Violation, Representation Violations, along with structure of state and local government requirements.
The statement "and my friend" tells all about the speaker.

@RandomNerd. There are rules and regulations in Congress wether you agree with them or not. Politcs aside he is actually a very kind man, I live not too far from him and bump into him form time to time. He is always willing to hear you out and shake your hand. This makes me sick.
That's what I thought from his actions in this video. He seems like the one of the only honest, honorable, forthright people in that corrupt room. Unbelievably unconstitutional andcriminal behavior imo!!!!
Glad to hear what he appears to be in this event is who he is as a person.
Certainly seems illegal to me.
Clear 1st amendment violation
Idk if we heard everything he said, but depending on what all he said, there is a time, place, and manner restriction on the 1st amendment. But i agree, from what we did hear they retaliated based off of what he said. And if its true that the guy was corrupt then i feel like thats a good sign the rest are too that hated what he said.
@censorsstarve there is no time restrictions on any amendment. The first amendment protects you from persecution from your government when you speak. He was persecuted by the government for what he said. So yes they violated his 1st amendment right. They also violated the peoples rights to have their elected official represent them in that State Congress joint session. Nothing else matters.
Cops are too loyal
“ Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
No mention at all of any restriction here at all. The amendments are to the point.
@dukeofdixieland want to check with SCOTUS on that? Because they are the branch that interprets and says what is in violation. And they have ruled that there is a time, place, and manner restriction on the 1st amendment.
Those officers are the reason that this man is correct. Out politicians, judges, and police have become unhinged, and they all have to go. You can't ban an elected official because you don't like his opinions. This is disgusting.
Never heard of Senator Colton Moore.....That's said I want him as my governor in Georgia....I will be donating to his campaign in the future....Thanks for video
That's what each State needs , a governor that speaks the truth and not be afraid of hurting feelings.
You just said you never heard of him, and now, because of a few short video clips you want him as your governor? Maybe it's better to actually research candidates in full rather than make snap judgments? People have got to stop this insane way of voting. He may be great, but you don't really know, and casting a vote in ignorance is how we get people like Joe Biden. Take the damn time to make a wise, informed decision.
Wow! Cant disagree with that statement. @@American-Jello
This banning due to his denial of advocating for a name change of what he believed to be a corrupt politician flies in the face of the first amendment and is asking for a huge lawsuit.

You are confusing the state senate with the state house of reps. He is in the senate, not house.
In 1969, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the Speaker of the House could not exclude a duly-elected candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives. In Powell v. McCormack, 395 U.S. 486 (1969), the Supreme Court ruled that the House's Constitutional authority to judge the qualifications of its own members was post facto and could only be exercised via expulsion after a 2/3rd affirmative vote. In other words, the House and Senate have no discretion when deciding whether to seat a candidate who has been duly elected under state law, but may take steps to expel that member after they have been sworn-in.
That's for the Federal government, man, not the State of Georgia.
