Flowers, first gal, here! Landscapes, heck yeah. Still life, yup! Portraits....yikes!! Love embracing imperfections. I struggle with this. Running to imperfectly watercolor doodle right now!
I am DRIPPING with inspiration juices! I ordered my first ever watercolor tube paints today after 10 years of wanting to but not daring to and today was the day because lovely people like you that shows how art isn't scary, it's playful! I easily get intimidated by a big page so when I crack them open for the first time I will cut a page into smaller pieces like this and play playfully and learn creatively. 😍 I love this idea so much and that fox was sooo cute!
Dianne Antone Studio is another small channel where she does chilled out watercolors that are very approachable. I recommend her after you finish with all of Kristy’s videos. Have fun!
As a left-hander I have vastly improved the symmetry of vases and jars etc by remembering to draw the right side first so that my hand isn’t covering what I’ve drawn when I draw the left side to match. It took me so long to realise this! I have only recently discovered your wonderful videos- thank you for your generosity in sharing your knowledge .
I’m terrified of drawing people. From the face to the figure. But I made a New Years resolution to draw a face or figure almost everyday to learn. I’ve had weeks of not drawing at all but I’ve done more than I ever have in my life and I’m getting better with more of an understanding
i put this video on, then got up to get a drink came back and my cat was sitting in my chair watching so intently. so i stood there watching her watch you for most of the video LOL 😂
Flesh bothers me. I can't see all the colors in skin. I think it's a type of color blindness. Also, can't see the colors in clay type hills, mountains that have no trees. It all looks like a solid color to me. I have to add that I really appreciate your celebration of imperfection in art. It's a lesson I learned a few years back. My ocd was stopping me from doing artwork. Great video! I appreciate it!
People, animals and roses send me straight to the edge!!!! Super sloppy work is not my thing..., a dog needs to look like a dog. A rose must look like rose, not a runny blob with "c" shapes painted in like an afterthought. Color me weird, it's all good... I'm lovin' binging on your videos..., I only wish you were close enough to take a live class with!!! Working on getting your books and brushes though...💚 😊💙😊 💜 (midwest Florida)

Sharpie has a product named sharpie felt-pen, it is a 0.4 mm, it is permanent and it doesn’t show at the back of the paper (it does not matter how thin it is, even printer paper passes the test). I have used this sharpie with watercolor paper and mixed media paper. It works so well with watercolor and Inktense. Right now, I am practicing cactus and prickly pears. I love animals in water colors, and if you are comfortable enough with watercolor pencils the fur or feather effects are easy to experiment. It might not be perfect the first time, but it is really nice to paint animals once in a while. Great video!
I’m so glad to hear you keep saying imperfections….I do small watercolor paintings and yes ma’am I’ve called it Painting Imperfections ! You’ve definitely gave me inspiration for so many things. Thank you so very much I love this video 😊🎨
I love listening to you as I draw and plan, lol. I am wishing to encourage you. Risky business trying to be yourself but you have a great stance. All the Chinese manufacturing is helpful to all. I am buying my Kurteki later this week, YAY 🙌 🤗. Sorry I love watching you and feel am developing my style as I go. 63 moving, lol. I love watching learning and listening please keep going because you are encouraging. Yah, Kristi you go girl 👏 👧 🙌 💪 ❤
My fear??oh painting people, illustration s....I am trying to figure it out as I would love someday to be able to illustrate a children's book...I have so many ideas but I am not good at painting People 🙁!I am loving your energy, and your doodle approach!!!!
Oh wow I love 💕 the fox 🦊, Ball jar, the mushroom with gills 🍄 , & the Conch shell 🐚!! Very quick & cute sketches. I tend to draw animals, flowers, seascapes & landscapes more & tend to avoid portraits mostly, although I am attempting to do some of family members for practice. Thanks for sharing this wonderful video with us.
I love your positivity in your videos!!! It is such a boost of inspiration and energy to try something new! Skin tones and the human figures are the most difficult for me.
Having a blast Kristy! Whenever I am stuck, I play one of your videos and your positivity and enthusiasm gets me going every time! In answer to one of your questions, I enjoy painting portraits the most but attempt all subject matter, especially landscapes. I discovered through this practice that faces are really just landscapes! I started out on my painting journey just drawing thousands (yes, thousands of various leaves - just playing with shape and form; this practice enabled me to draw better shapes for all objects). Trying new things is so energising especilly when you have an "Ah Ha!" moment whist experimenting - as you would say its so "juicy!" Thanks Kristy!
Kristy, I love all of these ideas so much! Could you please make a series of tutorials like this one? These super cute mini sketches are just the BEST. My favorites are the adorable little fox, the butterfly, hanging plant, mason jar, and palette. I can’t wait to make every single one. I so enjoyed your warm and funny commentary too and thank you for keeping the instructions simplistic and real and for sharing these fun and relaxing ideas. You’ve truly inspired me to have confidence to create :)
Landscapes just the thought panics me but then when I see something so pretty like the doodles and a perfect watercolor set that I can't wait to buy! Btw, any ETA?
Thank you so much! This video pushed me from a lurker to a doer! I watched this video at least 6 times. Then I put it on at 75% speed and followed you along. I have only ever swatched out my paints before. Never painted a thing and today I painted!
My biggest fear? Portraits and animals. Your enthusiasm is so great for me. Love and can't wait for the next video. You always lift my mood. Thanks so much for these ideas.
Quick and direct something I need to learn! Fox amazing, as each one made me want to join , but today I was an intent watcher! Loved it, especially your Smaller Size! I’m always using larger paper! U remind me to be free! Thanks Karen Dirmish
Once again you had me swooning!! Such beautiful colors and the different opacity and granulated or shimmering, neon and all of the other great features of handmade watercolors, sooo intense and oh so beautifully different ❤ just like all of us!!! Lovely family too my friend , Mrs. Kristie By the way I would love to try your handmade watercolors!! I have your Lil pallet but I don't want to use them they are precious! 😊👍👏🌈🎨👋😄🙏☔😍
I love this!!! I love your flowers but I also like it when you paint other things because I want to paint other things and I don’t like going to other channels.
I doodled and painted the fox! Not usually happy with my sketchy style. But she turned out super cute. Gave her a balloon and turned it into a Birthday card😊. Thanks!
I love the way you let the paints mix on the paper, it looks amazing! When you talk about broken lines doing the frame, it reminded me of an old art tutor that used to call it "lost & found" line. Great advice, you've given me inspiration. Thank you.
I'm useless at drawing most animals, birds and people (I can do Lowrie type stick people in my paintings lol) those feathery bits underneath some toadstools and mushrooms are called gills. Thanks for another entertaining video Kristy 🙂
I loved the avocado - when you used the fuchsia in the center, it was so close to the color you can get when you use avocado skins to dye paper! I always thought it bizarre that avocado skins make a dusky pink dye, but it is a lovely color. I love to paint medicine leaves and watercolor mandalas, so very much - but I am terrified of creating a painting that isn’t completely symmetrical and balanced so I’ve done the horrible thing… and thrown away so many paintings. So I guess it’s a love hate relationship…my solution has been use book pages and scrap paper to paint them on so I don’t feel bad when I put them in the recycle bin 🥴😕…but it would be so much (terrifying) fun to paint medicine leaves on a big canvas or some nice Stonehenge paper… Video “booped” as always! Thank you for sharing your talent and joy.
Great video, I painted along with you, my crystal somehow ended up looking like a geometric penis (which made me laugh a lot 😂), thoroughly enjoyed it.
Another fun video, can't wait to try some of these cute sketches! Water is hard for me, definitely tend to overwork it and getting the light just right and the spray...very tricky. That palette, so yummy! Do you know when it will be available?
Yeah, the "letter system" on those Pitt Artist pens is a bit confusing ^^' - if you're used to Faber-Castell colour system the number isn't though ;) Be it in the Polychromos, the Pitt Artist, the Goldfarber or even stuff from the school or office supply lines - the numbers are always corresponding. Like the 199 always is black, no matter which of their supplies your using :) Also, I just love that little fox, it looks absolutely adorable 🥰
Cannot wait to dabble with this with my grandchildren! BTW, I would like to buy a single cat's tongue brush. I have the others you use except that one. I don't see that you sell a single cat's tongue. Do you have a recommendation?

Let me revise my comment. Watching you brings me such joy !! But I thought that I could never draw what you did . I watched it full through and decided I was going to give it a try. And guess what, it wasn’t as bad as I thought !!! I think tho I have water issues, too much and possibly not enough pigment because everything bleeds into each other. But I tried it Now I’m happy!! ☺️☺️☺️ ((Wish I could send pictures here of what I did))
