  • Boatadvice.com.au journalist Dom Wiseman recently stepped aboard the all new Arvor 905 Sportsfish and found that its a perfect boat for anyone looking for a boat that isn't as large as a gameboat but is capable of doing almost as much offshore.
It is quite literally the fishermans dream with a spacious cockpit, enclosed cabin and serious offshore pedigree. Originally designed to handle tough Artic conditions, the test day saw a low swell and very little wind but you could still feel how tough this boat was just by being onboard.
The cockpit features a large fishing station which provides a live bait tank, sink, cutting board, rod holders and knife/tool holders. It's a great idea and can automatically move forward in the cockpit to allow the outboard engines to trim right up and out of the water which is great for reducing maintenance.
The Arvor 905 Sportsfish is a relatively large platform with 6 berths courtesy of a main forward berth, guest cabin under the dinette and a convertible dinette offering.
On the water the Arvor 905 Sportsfish hull features a fine entry, two reverse chines and a flared bow which keeps water largely down and away from the boat. The abin is extremely comfotable and will keep you dry in any offshore conditions and the hull has the ability to power through the sea comfortably and securely.
With single or twin outboard installations, the Arvor 905 sportsfish is versatile with the outboard engines providing nimble handling and secure turns with the hull bedding over at a comfortable angle. With twin 250hp Mercury outboard we achieved close to 40 knots at wide open throttle and a cruising speed of 23 knots offshore.
If you're looking for something more than a 6 metre trailerboat and don't want a large cruiser, the Arvor 905 Sportsfish sits right in the middle offering big boat ability with small boat handling and space
