    I had plantar warts which made it painful to walk. The podiatrist told me to buy compound W...This can be expensive if your on a fixed income....when I told the doctor I couldnt afford it...He said,..I'm not suppose to tell you this, but theres another way that's a whole lot cheaper and just as affective..a bottle of aspirin....so I bought a bottle of aspirin at Walmart for just under $1 dollar... I added water to the tablets and made a paste out of it. I then put the paste on some gauze and taped it with electrical tape to the warts on the bottoms of my feet...duct tape works good also...It worked!! The warts are gone and it hardly cost me anything!!

    Excellent, clear explanation for the layperson. I've used a combination of Compound W or similar product until the wart begins to dislodge. I follow by clipping the remaining connective tissue with a nail clipper, then deliberately overdose the remaining tissue with Freeze-Away. It's been effective in the past, but I've been struggling with the same, recurring wart. I will try the Curad 40%. Thank you for this video!

    I am so happy I found you. I had plantar warts surgically removed there was another problem the doctors found I imagine that is the reason they performed surgery. The warts on the operated foot never came back thank the Lord. It feels like a pebble is under a bundle of nerves on my foot. Haven't found a doctor that is willing to go the surgical route
    Is there a doctor in the Santa Barbara California area that will do the surgery it would be wonderful not to continue with this pain.

    Quick question regarding the Compound W one step pads... the ones I've got have the larger bandage piece (looks like a corn bandage basically) and when I peel that if the backing, there is a small circular pad that stays attached to the backing paper until I peel it off separately. Which one of these things has the salicylic acid on it?? Do I place the small pad onto the wart and then center the larger pad over it to cushion it? Or just place the larger pad, centering the "hole" where the little pad was on the wart? The instructions on the box are too vague for me haha

    • @mariemaladorno8788
      @mariemaladorno8788 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just called their customer service department with the same question. Put the little circle on-that's the part that contains the acid. The reason why it sticks to the paper, according to the customer service representative, is because the product is old. He asked for the lot number and date. I told him the date was Feb 17. He said it's from 2017 and to throw it away. I asked for a refund and he said no. 😕

    I use the CompoundW 1 step strips... Do I ever need to take the band aid off and let it breath or no?? I had mine on for 3 days now and when I took it off to change it to a new bandaid my skin looks soggy and white.. I’m a tan skin color😭

    • @frugalfoot4973
      @frugalfoot4973  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      When the skin is white and soggy it is burned. Technically that is how the acid destroys the wart. But I would exercise caution at this point and let the skin heal so it doesn't create an ulceration. I've seen salicylic acid burn to the bone. Once the burned skin has sloughed away and the skin has healed another treatment can be considered if the wart is still present.

    Great video. What about showering or even bathing? Can I take a hot bath like I do a few times a week to relax w these two warts or will they transmit elsewhere on my body that way? And, do I need to clean the tub w Lysol w every single shower or bath? What about the bathroom floor? Sheets? I live alone but I’m a bit of a germaphobe. I figured I’d ask an expert rather than make myself nuts. Thanks in advance. 👍🏼

    • @frugalfoot4973
      @frugalfoot4973  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Plantar warts are viruses but they have to penetrate through the skin which is difficult unless there is a break in the skin (like a callus or cut). Standing on the wart helps it get through the skin. That is what makes plantar's warts unique. It's far less likely that you'll contract a plantar's wart from bed sheets or your bath but I'd certainly lean towards cleanliness. A more likely scenario is contracting them on your fingers after touching the wart. So always wash your hands with soap and water after self treating. I like your lysol idea.

    • @frugalfoot4973
      @frugalfoot4973  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most warts typically look like a callus with black dots that have pinpoint bleeding when they are scraped. Blisters will usually be fluid filled. If you have a blister you do not want to use Compound W on them. I'd get them checked out.

      @frugalfoot4973  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@mangotango0290 When the skin turns white then it is being burned. You do not want the skin around the wart to be damaged. So definitely let the skin that turned white heal up.

    Hey Doctor. I've had two super expensive cryotherapy sessions for my deep plantar wart but I notice no good results. Should I go for another session as it burns a hole in my pocket each time? Or should I just try OTC methods like salicylic acid? Thanks in advance!

    • @frugalfoot4973
      @frugalfoot4973  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Almas: I appreciate your question but I refrain from giving personal medical advice. You have to ask your own doctor what is the best treatment for you. Your doctor may have a battle plan but you should be privy to it. Work together as a team. Call your doctor up this week and express your concern. Warts are tough to get rid of. Best of luck.

      @hello-kp6ux 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Frugal Foot, one last question, if I choose to pick it off, (prob will) will it bleed because I think you have to go down kinda deep once the compound w works it out.

    • @frugalfoot4973
      @frugalfoot4973  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hello-kp6ux It probably will. And it may not guarantee that it is gone. Warts usually have calluses on top of them. That may be what you are actually picking off. When you go to a doctor they can trim off the callus so that you can apply the acid directly to the wart.
