    Fimi is definitely a much more powerful drone, but I like the charm of the Mini 2, the smaller form factor has considerable advantages.

      Yes Mini 2 is great for travel I reckon. It’s pretty cool how good these ultra small drones are getting. Maybe we will see obstacle avoidance becoming more common one day. Hopefully we will.

    Just my personal opinion. You seem a little Biased more towards the Mini2. I think your love for the Mini is making for an unfair review. The point you are missing is that the Fimi definitely contends with a much higher end drone. There are pro's and con's to both and i think you should focus more on that. In my experiences. Mini 2 fly more is 599. Add landing gear, gimbal protector and earrentee you are well over 700.00 The fimi could be all in for 550.00 USD. Most people may not have almost 1k to throw out there. Mini 2 is an amazing drone as is the Fimi.

      I really like both drones. I think they have different strengths really. The Mini 2 is great for just getting out and flying easily. The Fimi is better in wind and I think I prefer the more manual orbit mode in certain circumstances.

    for me the fimi about 3 miles away never went nut to return home at 60% and i even cancelled it a few times yet the mini 2 did this and me being used to the fimi i cancelled at 45% only a few miles away...... and the mini2 decided that it wanted to do forced land and i lost it.... followed the land coordinates...never found it as was dead when was close.... the fimi used for over a 2 years...pushed the hell out of it and never ever lost it...... i still have my mini2 and use it still but never comfortable. and i only used the mini 2 3 times over space of 1 month...maybe i made a mistake and was used to the fimi...... 3 or 4 miles away at 50 % battery i would have no issue with fimi ....guess with mini if it says come home at 50% though i dont get it... alow it home! lesson learnt!

    • @StevesDrones
      @StevesDrones  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve not tried to fly that far away. Certainly here in the UK we wouldn’t be allowed to do it. I had an issue with a Mini 1 using the Litchi app where I didn’t realise that it didn’t return home by default but would hover. I lost signal and I had to move closer to get control again. Luckily it was fine but it was annoying that Litchi behaved differently to the DJI app out of the box.

    • @StevesDrones
      @StevesDrones  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks very much. Yes they both have an FPV mode but I don’t think this is akin to an FPV drone with goggles etc. It’s more of switch to lock the gimbal in position so when turning the footage is like footage from a plane.

      @@StevesDrones Thanks for your reply Steve. May i ask one more question? Is it true that DJI Mini 2 has serious issues when using Sport mode and fpv gimbal mode? • @StevesDrones
      @StevesDrones  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Alfais Muhammad No problem. Your English seems fine to me. I haven’t tried FPV move in sports mode but I have heard the Mini 2 has an issue with gimbal tilt in sports mode. I think it’s because the drone can tilt to 40 deg but the gimbal has a tolerance up to 35 deg. Perhaps this is the same issue. I noticed weird movements in my first video with it that I put down to wind at the time but maybe it was to do with it being in sport mode. I didn’t have in FPV mode though but I would have though that would lock the gimbal in the centre so perhaps that issue wouldn’t apply. I might try it out actually and see what happens.

In terms of foto quality -50$ phone eats Fimi for breakfast. in term of video, its OK but nothing to die for, sometimes tends to add some purple shadows around scenery -checked on 2 units as well. My conclusion : if someone tells You Fimi is on pair with Mini 2 in terms of foto&video quality, be sure he gets payed for that :)

    Listening to your free association monologue, you definitely were biased towards DJI going into this. Your opening monolog shows your belief that the Mini is a better fit for "beginner" - then you start seeking evidence to support that perception. Not saying you are wrong or right, but in the same way that your lean towards DJI, I will say that your points of contention have a feel of pre-determination. Having a preference is not a crime. But fairness to the viewers, the manufacturers and the hobby, in this setting; "which is best for x" should be approached with less opinion and more specific performance, ease of use, learning curve and ability to keep out of trouble I.E. Crashing and destroying your drone can be more than discouraging, it can cause people to give up before getting to the point of rewards/ROI. To be fair, the Fimi IS more challenging on many levels, and caters less to "beginners" but simply offers autonomous modes, rather than what feel like "wizards" - so I get your point. I just feel it could have either been stated emphatically or avoided - you attempted to do both - which felt a bit compromised.
    Thanks for your work and examples. Can you actually provide more split screen or difference illustration - I did not see too much - and expected much more from your dialog. I began to think you were describing a separate/different video - and went looking for it, lol! No disrespect, just trying to offer fair critique.

    • @StevesDrones
      @StevesDrones  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’d like to provide more split screen videos definitely. They’re just so hard to make but I’m getting better at them I think lol. Anyway to your main points. I’m not sure I agree that I’m biased as such. I’m just sharing my experiences of the drones I’m flying. I’m not paid by DJI or Fimi to make these videos. I like both drones but the reality is that by general consensus DJI drones are the market leader and the marker by which all other lower cost drones are judged on. Now that’s not to say they are perfect. If you look back at my earlier Mini 1 videos you can see me quite clearly complaining about strong wind warnings etc. When I started this channel I did so because when I was looking to get into drones I watched a lot of ‘objective’ videos which in the end when I actually tried that drone for myself turned out to be on the generous side let’s say. They often just pointed out the good bits and ignored the issues. Anyway I wanted a channel where a normal person flew a drone and gave their feeling of that experience including the drone, the app, the controller etc. I try to point out the differences between the two so people can make an informed choice such as the Mini 2 not having tracking features but having smart orbit features etc. The Fimi has tracking but not the smart orbit features and is better in higher winds but also the footage gets affected by propellers reflecting on to the camera. If I favour the Mini 2 it’s because overall I find it to be a better flying experience personally and I’m not going to hide that from people as doing so is not objective in my opinion. People watch my videos for me to tell them what my opinion of a drone is and I’m giving that opinion.

    which one is better Fimi 8 or Mavic?

    • @StevesDrones
      @StevesDrones  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it were me and it was my first drone I'd get the Mini 2. It's light and fun to fly and has quite a few cool features like quickshots to film dronies and orbit things. The Fimi is also great but heavier and has a few more features closer to the Air 2 such as motion tracking but its a bit more manual. You can't for example draw a box around something and say orbit that. You have to fly over it and then set the radius.

    The Fimi X8 SE does have some better specs than the DJI Mavic Mini except for one, its weight. I want to find a comparable to the Mini 2 weight.

    • @StevesDrones
      @StevesDrones  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There isn’t currently anything in the market that can compete with the Mini 2 really apart from the Mini 1. It’s almost certain there will be though as drones under 250g are subject to less regulation in a lot of countries so manufacturers have a real incentive to work on these sort of drones. We expect to see this year a Fimi competitor to the Mini 2 so I think everyone is looking forward to that as we’d hope to see it have all the features of the Fimi X8 SE but in a sub 250g drone.

      I’m not sure what you mean exactly but there are a few differences. Mini 2 is lighter than the Fimi and doesn’t need registration. The Fimi has waypoints and motion tracking whereas the Mini 2 doesn’t. The Mini 2 has smarter video features such as drawing a box over an object to circle it whereas the Fimi has to be manually flown over and a radius set.

    • @StevesDrones
      @StevesDrones  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the video quality can be subjective so you’d have to pick your favourite. On paper the Mini 2 has the bigger sensor. I think they are quite similar but I’ve found the Mini 2 video to be easier to work with when syncing with the FPV but that’s probably not a problem most people care about. Also lighting conditions affect everything. I’d say you’re more likely to get propellers in shot on the Fimi. Both are definitely good though.

      @StevesDrones  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1
