Seeing how gnarly this trail is, where would someone go to get some single track experience that's less risky than Gifford Pinchot? That's some sweet Old Growth you can ride through though.
Two great venues to cut your teeth on. Capitol Forest in Olympia Washington has some good intermediate terrain that has some elevation changes. Much/most of it is double track. Tahuya out by Hood Canal is a huge huge forest with tons of dt and single. It is open year round while Cap Forest is open May to December. In Mattawa Washington is a Desert/Sand/Canyon venue that has a combination of easy and difficult terrain that sports nice dry warm weather in Spring and Fall.
@Dagsterblaster4973 are you able to fill the oil tank with the larger fuel tank?? I want the big Acerbis tank but wondering if it will get in the way of the fill cap!
We all run the 3.2 gallon tanks with no issues! You're good to go! Nice having some serious range, as everyone that refuses to upgrade wound up running out.
I wouldn't ride Gifford unless you are at least an "advanced" rider and even then you should have at least 2 people with you. Special risks apply at this place.
Heck ya! I try not to ride through Dark Meadow unless it's around 5 AM and still really dark!
Nachtjager!
Great vid I'll try it next year !
Li'l Devil at 8:20 is a very gnarly spot. Good times
💐 This was a wonderful break and skim through. Most of my riding as a child was in fields and around the neighborhood.
Stay safe out there
Hiking trails there?

@@dagsterblaster4973 thanks! And would love to ride with you sometime!
(Also what kind of mileage do you get from the 3.2gal?)
Is this all doable for a B level rider?

Is there a stand alone ohv map for the Gifford ?? I’ll be in Randal next week… where do I get one?
The best map for Gifford that I've found is the map of that area by National Geographic. Mt St Helens/Mt Adams. Available at REI.
Don’t give REI a dime. They are our enemy.
