I absolutely rate this car 👌 Make sure you’re subscribed for Wednesday’s video it’s a good one and if you’re not following me on insta yet here’s the link: instagram.com/calvinscardiary
I’m soo glad you did a video on this car! I had one of these for 3 years, and it was my second car with 1 year no claims bonus it cost me £1500 but for me this was amazing coming from a 1.6 Astra which cost me £3500 for my first year driving, but ye this car is the reason I love cars, driving and anything car related and will forever be the car I should of never sold. So underrated
I seen 1 at knockhill ,my local racetrack in Scotland. I'm a track day guy myself. And yeah the guy was not amused that it broke. Great car for the road not for pushing hard round a track. Hence GTI wins.
Owned the very same car for 3 years, it’s called GT TECH ie heated seats/ heated steering wheel. Definitely recommend this car, never had any problems, cheap service cost. Well done to KIA.
I bought an 09 Proceed Zr-7 with 118k miles. About 50k miles missing in the service history but shes at 160k miles now going strong and serviced every 10k. Hyundai/Kia Gamma engines are pretty solid and are everywhere.
I had a 2013 one of these for 6 years and 320,000km and I couldn't recommend it enough. Bulletproof on a 150km daily commute, fun to drive in the twisties and quick enough (especially after I remapped it). I also firmly believe that it's the best looking hatchback of the last decade by a mile.
my current car, i have a 2014 model, with a stage 1 tune, and a de resonated exhaust , cracking motor, admittedly it does feel a little sluggish at stock, but a tune completely transforms it. and the sound it makes just by cutting off the resonator is insane.
you still got it? how do you find the handling? in my head i have them as like the same sort of car as an i30n - mapped to 250bhp with all the gadgets etc i think its a decent buy!
Test drove one at 18 when they first came out, absolutely loved it and wanted one since! They're holding their value well too! Been around the 5-7k mark for the last 2/3 years!
Good to hear. We had a Pro Ceed Gt from 2014 to 2018 and it was a cracking car. Never missed a beat, and turned heads all the time. I was really hoping Kia would progress and develop a hotter version but alas, they didn’t. So we reluctantly changed in 2018 to a I30N. You still see very few actual GT’s on the road. Absolutely loved my Pro Ceed GT. and loads of tech as standard (heated seats and steering wheel to name a couple). Great video.
thats exactly the car that popped into my head when i was looking at the pro ceed gt tonight - its like an i30n with a bit less power BUT they will remap upto 250bhp so id imagine once you do that they have a bit of poke... how did you find the handling with it?
So what you've got there is the pre facelift GT tech, that's why it's specced with the heated seats/steering wheel, touch screen and directional xenon headlights. After the facelift in 2016 they dropped the base GT and every GT had the same tech. The GT button itself doesn't have any effect on the drive it just changes the screen 👌
The great thing about your channel is I think people would be more inclined to buy cars from you as you come across as a genuine, nice bloke. So it’s great advertising for your business! Good luck to you
Got myself a 2017 KIA Proceed GT in white. It is literally my child in a way. So comfortable to drive, responsive. Looking to change the look of it soon hopefully! 😁
I've got s pro ceed sr7 having had VW's all my life, this car outperforms all VW's even my Scirocco! Had it 5 years and only had a bulb go on it, great car!!!
Didn't think you would do a video on this car however I'm glad you did. I own one and can't fault it wanted a little bit of power but didn't want to go crazy and spend a fortune at the time. Only thing that bugs me is the front suspension seems like it's bouncing across the tarmac when you wheel spin off and sounds like it's gonna break the front end off lol 😆
I had a regular ford fiesta as my first car at 21 and actually bought a Kia Procee'd GT 2 years later (that I still drive). My insurance changed from around £700 for the fiesta to £1,000 on the Kia, nearly 5 years later my insurance on the same car is under £400 with 7 years no claims. I did have one accident that was not my fault so it could be lower still! I've really enjoyed my Kia but I'm ready to move on to something else when the car starts having a lot of issues.
One sweet spot I’ve found as a young car enthusiast is the Mini Cooper s and JCW 2014-present. I’m paying £750 a year at 19 with 2 years no claims for a 230hp hot hatch. Whereas GTI quotes at £2500 and s3 at £2700
Kia ceed good little cars, my old man has a 1.4 58 plate cee apostrophe d 😂 covered 95,000 miles and feels tight as a drum still. Never had anything other than service items and a coil spring. He bought it new and I use it as my safe get you there car occasionally for bigger journeys. Kias used to represent very good value for money but unfortunately with the more recognition they are getting in the motor industry their prices are equivalent to more mainstream manufacturers...
@@amshgamer9499 Just did another quote with the correct details, 4 years driving and 4 years no claims still came back as £1,418.20 😂Man I live in a rough area haha
I recently got a sportage same engine 174 bhp and it proper shifts for a bigish car there has been talk of these having carbon deposits on intake valves but I think that's at very high mileage.
You’ll probs find it’s got like the auto click in the pedal as that’s for the the speed limit function so if you set a limit say 30mph it would limit at 30mph until you push past that click, that’s what every speed limit function car I’ve ever driven has has anyway my theory behind it 😂😂
I don’t think that mileage is high these days. Also a car that has been used is often better serviced and more reliable than a car with really low mileage.
Interesting to see. I made the jump to Kia back in 2018 for family car duties - Optima Estate. Won’t set the world on fire but it’s the perfect tool for the job. Prior to that I had an XF SPORTBRAKE and it spent more time in the garage than on the road 🤣 Hyundai also impressed me after I drove the I30N- that’s an absolute riot. P.s your fascination with the puddle was amazing 🤣🤣
it really is a good car for the money! still driving mine low mile since a older man drove it before me. and he didnt do kia service, so i got a good deal! no problem since!
Great honest channel - loved the M3 vs AMG comparison & found it very helpful 👍🏻 I have a question... If a person buys a CAT write off & insures/declares it as one & then has an accident at some point in the future & wishes to claim Would the insurance company pay out for repairs? Would they write it off (again) if damage was bad ? Or would they just pay out the original scrap value? Would the different CAT categories make a difference in this ? Would love to see a video on one of those and see what you think and make my mind up for me. Loving the content, helping me stay sane in lockdown. Much love.
The last 3 cars I've bought have each had over 100k miles on them when I bought them. The first which I guess was the only interesting one was a 2005 3 year old M3 CS. I paid 14.5k for a 3 year old car which cost the guy before me 56K. No brainer if they've been looked after.
Bloody love your honest delivery. Brilliant ! I have a Kia Rio for a bit more than a year now, it's got 109 HP and I want to upgrade. With only 1 year no claim I can't even ensure it. Need to get two more years

I’ve got the Gt line on yellow 1L And the insurance is reasonable, it cost me £780 a year And the road tax is super cheap £30 a year compared to what I use to pay
Loving the 20-70 mph dragy tests. All the 0-60mph tests on other channels make no sense. I don’t really care if your Ferraghini does 0-60 in 2 seconds if it takes you 20 minutes to find launch control (Mat Watson)🤣😂. 20-70 mph wall of fame please. Love the randomness of your channel, is randomness a real word, I’m sure it might be, or not..... sorry got off track there.......🤣😂😅👍👍👍
Like so many small cars, not really different-looking enough to be special. I’m guessing it’s the long warranty and add-on service package etc with a new one, which makes them an attractive buy. Second-hand though, bargain pocket rocket 👍
Had one of the cleanest kia ceed GTs going, on a 13 plate, very low milage and loved it,,,,, but it would not go off road so I sold it for a suzy vitara 😁👍
I have 2 kias a sportage with the same engine and a picanto .Both are very good and I wouldnt look past them now.The 1.6t gdi engine has a twin scroll turbo and is very tunable. Good to see a reviewer doing speed tests on an open road with no one round .Good for you fella as most reviewers just drive like dicks to look cool.Try and borrow a nismo rs juke if you can another fast cheap car.
I've had a 2013 GT for 4 years and done 60k miles in it. Now on 130k, it's been our family car and has been brilliant. I also have a Mk1 TT so the timing comparison is interesting, the TT 1.8T feels way quicker to drive, especially for overtaking. The Ceed/Proceed thing, i seem to remember that the Proceed is the 3 door hatch and the Ceed is 5 door 🤔 I test drove a few other cars before buying the GT, it was noticeably quicker and nicer to drive than a Fiesta ST of the same age and was a nicer to sit in than the 208GTi.
Would you say the TT felt like it had more power when it came to motorway speeds but the proceed gt felt more lively around town at slower speeds whereas the tt you felt like you couldn’t really use all its power around town unless you seriously broke the speed limit?
@@pjneale being honest, the TT would be quicker around town as well. Especially pulling out onto damp roundabouts quickly, the extra grip from the rear wheels being driven is quite significant. The GT can wheelspin under hard acceleration whereas with the TT you just nail the throttle under any conditions.
120k for a car that new isn't bad tbh, my veloster is on 100k and all I needed recently was a new clutch (and you expect to buy and new one around 100k)
Awesome content Calvin, theres something for everyone! Thank you 🙏🏻.The latest Proceed GT is a genuinely good looking car, like a CLA Shooting Brake, but half the price!! Its tempting........🤔😎😎
Have the proceed GT shooting break myself, dct and 200bhp is genuinely more than enough to put a smile on my face on a b road and also super practical to fit stuff in. Loads of kit as standard including heated steering wheel and seats and gets lots of comments from people as mine in the only one I have seen in my city.
Just found this video and I'm so glad I did was considering buying one of these and now I'm definitely getting one i dont care like it or not 8m going all-out for the shouty yellow one
A 1.6 and you thought it wasnt gonna impress you? Id love to see your reaction in my 1.4 Cupra Ibiza DSG 😂 230whp 400nm torque, youd love it mate, get one on the channel 👌
I have a 2008 Kia_pro ceed. It has nothing on this car, it's slow and I was looking at getting this as a replacement. However, it does drink fuel. That has put me off, my OLD one has better MPG and I want a petrol. I think I'm keeping my car. I've owned it for over 8 years. She's broke down once, which started again after 10 mins of idle. £150. £120 for another issue, that is ALL I've spent on her that's not been wear and tear!
@@martinbaker7097 potentially mate, need to have a proper look and drive/sit in one of these really first i do like the idea of them but i suppose you never truly know until you have a go.

It's a good looking car.
My neighbour has one and it's wicked mate
True this, work colleague has one, mapped stage 1 and it's ridiculously quick, like M3 quick, just nuts man haha
Don't like Kia stinger because it looses value so quick

@@joshuaminke6629 should have got a stinger
@@seanokeeffeSOK out of my price range. And I wanted AWD
I had a 16 plate kia ceed gt for a few years really good cars
I’ve got the Gt line on yellow
1L
And the insurance is reasonable, it cost me £780 a year
And the road tax is super cheap £30 a year compared to what I use to pay
Had one of the cleanest kia ceed GTs going, on a 13 plate, very low milage and loved it,,,,, but it would not go off road so I sold it for a suzy vitara 😁👍
popular car on the roads now Calvin might be faster than my unmapped golf gtd .. love the content
2nd car, 0 claims £54 a month, one months time when i change it to my main car £36 a month, full no claims at 35 years old :)
Nice one Calvin! Loving your channel man.
Keep up the hard work! #ONIT
Love the review, definitely adding this to my short list! :)
What would you choose out of the Kia to a fn2 type r?
I've got a FN2 type r, Currently looking at these.
Before the proceed was its own model (the shooting brake one mentioned) the proceed was literally just the 3 door ceed, that’s it 😂
plus a completely different rear end
I've had a 2013 GT for 4 years and done 60k miles in it. Now on 130k, it's been our family car and has been brilliant. I also have a Mk1 TT so the timing comparison is interesting, the TT 1.8T feels way quicker to drive, especially for overtaking. The Ceed/Proceed thing, i seem to remember that the Proceed is the 3 door hatch and the Ceed is 5 door 🤔
I test drove a few other cars before buying the GT, it was noticeably quicker and nicer to drive than a Fiesta ST of the same age and was a nicer to sit in than the 208GTi.
Cal get a kia stinger. 👍
120k for a car that new isn't bad tbh, my veloster is on 100k and all I needed recently was a new clutch (and you expect to buy and new one around 100k)
You need to get an i30n on the channel :)
YES ONE JUST CREPT AWAY FROM ME IN MY E46 330D.PROBLY COST HIM A TENNA AND ME ABOUT 2 QUID LOL WAS GOOD THOUGH..
Brilliant cars 👏 best channel on TH-cam mate keep the videos coming
I nearly binned my Clio 182 the other week seeing the icicles from a puddle 😂😂😂
Awesome content Calvin, theres something for everyone! Thank you 🙏🏻.The latest Proceed GT is a genuinely good looking car, like a CLA Shooting Brake, but half the price!! Its tempting........🤔😎😎
Have the proceed GT shooting break myself, dct and 200bhp is genuinely more than enough to put a smile on my face on a b road and also super practical to fit stuff in. Loads of kit as standard including heated steering wheel and seats and gets lots of comments from people as mine in the only one I have seen in my city.
The front fog lights remind me of the MK8 Golf GTI ones!
You mean this Proceed GT reminds you of the MK8 GTI. The MK8 came after the Proceed/
Just found this video and I'm so glad I did was considering buying one of these and now I'm definitely getting one i dont care like it or not 8m going all-out for the shouty yellow one
bought one yesterday for my first car in white, its so nice
A 1.6 and you thought it wasnt gonna impress you?
Id love to see your reaction in my 1.4 Cupra Ibiza DSG 😂 230whp 400nm torque, youd love it mate, get one on the channel 👌
Solid remap. What power we talking 300hp+
Didn’t think it was possible having had a look on its gains in other places.
Not that I would recommend one but Peugeot got 270bhp out of their 1.6 for the RCZ-R. Not the most reliable engine but shows that it is possible.
Currently one for sale in BCA, might bag it myself.
Head designer of kia was head hunted from Audi in 2006
I have this in black stage 2 270bhp thing is insane
Nice car nice to see something different for a change
Bargain family car is a Ford Mondeo Titanium X Sport - 2.5L petrol, full leather, big spec car.
I use to have one of them myself, apparently loved it. Also I had a DTUK turning box on it approximately running at 245bhp
how did you find it once mapped? how did it handle? weighing one up..
@@s1dew1nd3r4 it was fine handle really well. I’ve still got the turning box if your interested in buying it off me?
