I just finished trying this menu and the beans were pretty salty, or at least they had a very salty flavor. The shredded beef actually packs nearly twice the amount of sodium in the beans. I had plenty of beef and beans left over after the tortillas were gone and finishing that off was a pretty overwhelming experience. All in all it wasn't half bad though.
But after further viewing, you use “putrid” as a described, while others use “savory” before it’s ever tasted? Seems like prenotioned comments. I think that it looks like stuff I’d never eat, but these are served to out fighting military men! Should be better than worse? I dunno, been wanting to get some to taste for myself. But have to think, men and women are on the front lines, sacrificing everything, you think that we would provide them with quality rations? Most of what I have seen look tasty! And are intended to get the eater their required daily calories. Can’t go to far wrong? And yes, seems like many of these meals are made to combo different parts to make the “star” taste good.
Also have seen other reviews on this MRE (gundog4314) that had a totally different experience with this meal. Have to think it’s a personal preference? Others loved it.
It's all good. Just been getting a lot of comments saying rude stuff. But the issue was it was most likely the temperature it was stored. Could have been in a hot climate for too long. Also, things can smell and look putrid before tasting.
What a terrible review. Poisonous drink? Watered down coffee? Uh, there's instructions on how much water to use. Salt brine? This was my 1st time watching one of your reviews, and the last.

I got that MRE twice and I really enjoyed the Shredded BBQ. I reminded me of something from my childhood. I made a sandwich out of it.
Yeah I could eat it at least 3 days a week haha

That tortilla is real, the powdery substance is flour, but they actually look very much like my wife's homemade tortillas.
Just ordered this as my first MRE. Been wanting to test some out for hiking and stuff.
Just had this menu last week. The beans weren't super salty. Wonder if you got a bad batch.
Hmm I wonder... Mine was ridiculously salty and I can handle salt bricks.

The beans had a pretty thick sauce, i didn't like that. And the beef had a strong vinegar taste. One of the worst menus i tried.
