That burrow thing happened to me a good number of times back when I played GW1 nearly every day. Once I was the chomper and realized the burrow bugged and got back my kill.

2:17. This is a pretty common glitch in GW1. That’s sorta why I came to the conclusion that the reason chomping or burrowing someone does over 2000 damage so the game registers the person as actually being vanquished. When it does happen, unless that person is brain dead(heh) you might still be able to kill them if you play your cards correctly.
Sometimes the chomper will be able to kill them too. I speak from experience.
