I had to wear braces for more than two years. I haven't had them in almost 6 years now, but the paranoia about my teeth getting back like before is so real!!! Sometimes I'd just stare at my teeth in the mirror to see if anything has moved...terrifying.
I had braces in and lost my retainer on holiday, I wouldn't panic it's been almost 10 years, and my teeth are still straight. (The retainer definitely wouldn't go on If I found it though.)
This made me so happy because I was always paranoid about my teeth, from age 10 to age 16. I got braces, and now I'm only a few short months away from getting them off! My teeth feel so nice and straight now... this video made me really excited and now I'm looking forward to having straight nice teeth even more, thank you!
One of my front teeth slightly overlaps the other and I don't want to get them "fixed" because my Mom and Grandma both had the exact same thing. Luckily, I live in Europe, so people don't look at you weird if your teeth are slightly weird.
I have the same thing, one of my top front teeth overlaps the other a little bit and so does the bottom. My dentist actually advised against 'fixing' them because they are perfectly alright like this. Especially with how sensitive my teeth are, changing them could potentially result in harming them.
I’m about 3/4 through my Invisalign treatment, and it was the best decision I’ve ever made. I’m not constantly thinking about how my teeth look in pictures, or covering my mouth with my hand. I only wish I had started this sooner! I’m a 100x more confident now!
my friend is about to get Invisalign, and she's thinking about backing out because she's nervous. I'm gonna send this to her to show her that it's worth it and her teeth'll get better. (also I know exactly what you're talking about I had blocks and now have braces and the wax impressions were horrible >.
Hi! I had Invisalign around 2 years ago, and finished my course April last year. Just thought I'd say that I never felt the pain that Emma talks about when putting in a new set - it's different for everyone! Hope your friend isn't too worried, I'm really happy with the results! (also impressions are gross ugh) x
I had an over bite and I was super conscious of my teeth. I didn't really smile in photos or if I laughed I didn't show my teeth but after having braces for 2 and a half years, it's helped my confidence so much and now I'm confident smiling in photos and what not. It hurt a lot but it was definitely worth it
I had braces 14 years ago so maybe my info is dated, but I remember they gave me a retainer to wear every night. I don't remember how long I used it, maybe a year, and then I started to forget about it and when I remembered it hurt a lot again so after a while i decided to stop wearing it. My teeth moved a bit but not to the way they were. They're not as straight as when they took the braces off but they're fine. Oh, and I remember they put the metal wire behind my lower front teeth too, so that helped a lot. It was made to detach itself after a while and it did after a few years.
I recently got my fixed braces off and only have my retainer now. I went through two types of removable braces to fix my jaw and then the fixed for my actual teeth. I had a 9mm overbite and huge gaps that made eating a pain in the ass. BRACES ARE 100% WORTH IT If you’re happy with funky, different teeth that’s so awesome but if you’re insecure it’s a life changer, I’m finally smiling with my teeth for the first time in 17 years. Awesome seeing videos like this and those with media attention talk about positives and negatives of braces. (If your under 18 in the uk and have been told you are eligible really consider it because if there are any jaw issues they will get worse as you get older and you will be forking out to fix them)
this hairstyle looks amazing on you, I loved it. It's something about the colour of both your hair and the background may be, and the style is so chill. Love you, take care!
Invisalign has improved a lot since even when you got them! I had similar issues with my teeth, except that instead of a gap my mid-lines were off (think tom Cruise's teeth). Now instead of the traditional way of creating a mold they SCAN YOUR TEETH with a scanner to create a ~digital~ mold and send it to Invisalign. The orthodontist can also do this procedure called Propel where they basically drill small holes in your jaws to break up the bone (the effect wears off after 6 months) so your teeth move faster so that instead of changing it out every week to two weeks it's every THREE DAYS! I started July 2017 and I am on my last box of trays now. It hurts so much at first, but it is so worth it! And I've been told that not only does it fix mid-line issues like I had, but also bigger issues like under-bites and overbites now! I was so self-conscious about my teeth that I would not smile in photos, but now I am so happy! It was worth the pain and money like you said!
One part of me is paying attention, the other's like “damn look at Emma, she looks so darn cute with that coat and talking about teeth things I don't quite understand”
I had braces when I was a teenager. Now I'm looking at getting Invisalign. You have eased a lot of anxiety about purchasing them. Thank you. I love your honesty. You tell it like it is and I'm so happy you posted this. I have ADD and getting my brace work done was nearly impossible because I just could not make myself remember or even make dentist appointments. You are a legit rockstar for posting this!!!!
My teeth were also crowded at the bottom in a similar fashion to yours, and I decided last year to spend my student loan on Invisalign as it was affecting my morale and confidence immensely. I had 28 trays and the procedure was very hard at first. But it stopped me snacking, I had 0 issues and what I would call a relatively painless experience compared to standard traintracks. I totally recommend the process to anyone unsure 😊❤
I love my Invisalign! After having a terrible experience with braces and not having my retainer fit right, this is a much better option. And I’m getting great results so far!
I totally understand this! I hated my teeth for years after my wisdom teeth came in because they crowded my mouth and caused my teeth to go crooked. After I had them pulled (finally!) last year in March, my teeth slowly started moving back to being straight again (like they were when I was young). It's Feb now, and all my teeth except one is perfectly straight now. That last one is almost straight, but not quite there yet. I'm hoping it'll finish shifting by March so I can say it only took a year for them to go back to normal. Lol. I also got my teeth whitened while I was at it, so I love my smile now (only took 20 years for me to get this fixed)! Like you, most of my photos from the past 20 years don't show my teeth at all. I'm going to have to relearn how to smile now that I want to show them off! : ) Your smile is beautiful, Emma!! I'm so glad it worked and you're happy with the results, too. Congrats!! : ) : ) : )
this little bit of hair stuck to your eyelash makes me want to throw my screen out of the window. Great to see you happy with your "new" teeth (although I should call it differently), I'm also thinking about it, two of my teeth overlap other two and I've got one tooth, that I thought is a "fang type" tooth, but it's just really tilted one way and it looks awkward. But I don;t really have the money, I gotta buy new furniture and do stuff, maybe I'll check out Invisalign. I didn't even know, that's it's a thing and that it is in Poland. If I do and it works, then I'll love you for making this video forever I mean I'm not really insecure, but it bothers be a little bit, my teeth were a mess from the beginning and I don't want them like that for the rest of my life. It's like that little bit of hair, that always wants to stay straight and it's not much of a problem, but you cut it off for less annoyance. And it's also cool to see you happy with yourself, so that you feel good, not only make us feel good with your books and tips and stuff and words and existing
Kuna I got invisalign in AW.Dent in Warsaw, over nine months in and there's already a huge difference, it's honestly life changing for me, but it was always my dream to get my teeth straightened. Anyway, I recommend the place, you can pay in installments as well! 😊
This was an adorable lovely informative video. I really loved this and the little giggle at the end made my heart smile. I hope you’re doing well emma x
Getting braces was probably the best decision I ever made and I'm 1000000% more confident. I had crowded bottom teeth, and a a vampire fang situation going on on my top teeth. I despised it. My brother teased me relentlessly, and I never smiled properly in photos (also always covered my mouth when I laughed). By the time I got braces, I was already 19. I had them through my 20th birthday, and then got them off in around May 2017. A total of 37 weeks (apparently my teeth moved REALLY quickly, my ortho was really surprised). I was concerned about aesthetics, so I went for clear self-ligating braces that don't have rubber bands (they're called Empower Clear if anyone wants to know). This is an Instagram photo of me 3/4 way through my treatment (bit.ly/2GLgLd4). If anyone is thinking about getting braces, totally go for it. It's not nearly as bad as some people make it out to be. You get used to eating differently, and destroying your toothbrushes a little faster (okay, a lot faster). You'll come out of the other side feeling like a new you.
I'm putting braces in about 20 days. And I'm getting ceramic ones (probably the ones you had, I'm not sure) and your comment made me feel sooo much better for getting braces! Thank you 💞
I first had my braces when I was about 9/10 because I was bullied really badly. I had them as a removable brace first and then the traditional 'train tracks' until I was about 15. I'm now 20 and even though I have to wear a retainer every other night for the rest of my life, I wouldn't change it for the world, getting my teeth fixed made me feel so much better about myself.
I actually have Invisalign right now. And I completely understand the pain. I cried every time I tried to take them out the first month or so because my teeth were in so much pain. I actually didn't eat much when I first got them because it was such agony to take out the trays just to eat and put them back in. And the lisp thing was something I absolutely hated. I had a lisp from March 2017 all the way to June 2017. And it occasionally comes back when I switch to a new set of trays. I'm not done with my Invisalign yet, I have about half a year to go. Maybe less. But I absolutely love them because I'm no longer worried about my teeth. They've really helped my confidence.
This is so relatable. I've been wearing Invisalign for half a year now and it completely changed my life. It probably sounds so dramatic to human beans with naturally straight beautiful teeth lol :D But yeah before that I was super self-conscious about my teeth and never smiled with mouth open (which also affected my speech cause I would try my best not to open my mouth at all when talking). Thank you so much for sharing your story ❤️ I love you and your channel.
before i got braces i wore these retainers that had sort of blocks on them to fix my overbite, and i absolutely hated them but it did the job so i shouldn’t complain too much. i got braces for about 2 years and then i wore invisalign 24/7. now i only sleep in them but the change all that had on my teeth and my mouth in general is insane. definitely worth it.
I had braces between 17-19, but didn't bother and didn't really make any effort to wear my retainer. I'm now 26 and have remade overnight retainers that I got last year and always forget to wear. I'm now saving up to get my teeth properly straight like they should be. So an FYI to those with braces, when you get them taken off, WEAR YOUR RETAINERS.
this is how I felt after getting my braces off about 2 weeks ago, I feel so much more confident with my teeth now; before, I barely fully smiled, but now I can't stop smiling. Glad to know you feel more confident with your teeth now, too, Emma ❤
Have been considering invisalign for quite some time and you are another person who has recommended it wholeheartedly. Very much appreciate the before and after photos though as they've been somewhat tricky to find. Looks like I'll need to book an appointment.
I'm hoping to study Dentistry starting this September, so watching this was really really interesting! Glad to see the Invisalign has not just made an improvement on your teeth but also a HUGE improvement to your confidence!! They do look really beautiful and white! God I love teeth! Cheers for sharing Emma :) xx
Invisalign is great because it's so subtle. My mom and my sister got and it's so much better than the agony of having to deal with metal braces. I still haven't gotten braces bc my teeth are relatively straight but I think I will in the future. Thanks Emma!
i am 25 and just now started my braces journey. My teeth were not my issue my jaw and bone structure was so i have a expander that is screwed in my top jaw to widen that out and i have braces all around. I think if your teeth are bothering you, look into fixing them. We do installments of payment as well to afford mine, but it's worth it. I used to get massive migraines bc of my cross bite and now it's fixed. I maybe have 1 migraine every 4 months as opposed to days on end. Invisalign wouldn't work for what i needed because it was a skeletal problem with me, but i rock my metal braces. It's something that i came to terms with being a 24 year old, now 25, getting braces. I know it will be worth all the pain with the screws, bars and wires in my mouth simply because my migraines are way less intense and way less frequent. I was told that it could have been a possibility that i needed surgery bc of how bad it was, but my amazing ortho worked some type of magic on me and now i'm in the clear and don't need surgery. It's really amazing.
The wire on the back of your teeth is called a permanent retainer. I have one and it is supposed to keep your bottom teeth from shifting permanently. I had only worn my bottom retainer for like a year and now 5 years later, bottom teeth still have not shifted. I still wear my top retainer though
I had to get braces because i had this one tooth sticking out of my upper row of teeth that could potentially break if I fell in my face. I went the traditional braces route, and those also hurt a lot and took me two years and so much FRIKEN money. It kinda sucks that you now permanently have a wire stuck to the back of my bottom teeth and I have to eat a retainer every night, but hey worth it. Also I apparently had two extra teeth growing in my upper pallete that could potentially grow out of my nose so I had to get those taken out and it's actually not that bad because it didn't hurt like I thought it would. I never took one painkiller through this entire process (mainly because I had a fear of swallowing pills) and I can safely say it's not that painful unless your teeth are really messed up, even more than mine were.
This has honestly helped me so so much! My teeth have been my biggest insecurity since I can remember. I'm hoping to get invisalign too, but the 4 grand price tag is so off-putting! After watching this, I can really see the benefits :D
I notice that even after just over a week of not wearing my retainer that they feel really tight when I first put them back in but it’s not painful luckily, just a little uncomfortable for a few minutes
Lauren yeah it’s cos teeth are always moving! Doesn’t matter if I wear them every night for a week - they’ll always hurt for a few mins when I remove them in the morning!
I had a similar thing with my ears, they were super sticky outy and one was significantly larger. My doctor noticed one day when I had an ear infection, and asked if it bothered me, and I said it really did, so she referred me to a surgeon, and luckily in NZ it's funded for people under 18 or so, because it can be such a huge thing, especially in school. I got bullied really badly because of them, I never wore my hair up, I always made sure my hairs dresser cut my hair in a way that hid them, and I was always super conscious of them. After surgery I had about two weeks of having this massive bandage on my head, luckily I didn't really feel like going out after surgery so that was no problem, then for a few months hand to wear headbands that sat over my ears, so I found some cute ones and made it a statement. After that I went and go an undercut, I wear my hair up all the time, I'm more adventurous with hair styles, and I don't think about them. I don't really see many people talking about this, but it was such a relief, constantly being aware of my ears and keeping them covered was so emotionally draining, and that really is the biggest thing for me.
I was so conscious of my retainer while watching this video 😂😂 I had braces for...about three years or so? And then got the wire (after being told I wouldn't have to have one, booo) that I forget about most of the time, until I eat something like bread. Made a huge difference but I still have trouble smiling with my teeth; not necessarily for the teeth themselves, I've just never had a particularly toothy smile. But yours is so pretty! I'm glad that getting them treated helped make you feel good about yourself 💗
I had one tooth near my front teeth that was really high up my gum and bothered me for years I then had braces and found out I had an overbite, gap between my front teeth and my mouth was overcrowded xD (all of which I never noticed before as I only focused on the really obvious one) 2 and a half years later along with 2 less teeth I am so happy with how they are now (TIP don't get red braces as it looks like your gums are bleeding and dont get your braces put on 2 days before Christmas T_T
I had metal braces, that was hell! I always had cut in my mouth, and I had a terrible lisp, but he treatment was waaaay cheaper than invisalign and the porcelain braces. In the end it was all worth it. I feel more confident when smiling and trust me, not being worried about how your teeth look like when smiling is the best thing ever.
I got braces a couple of years ago, and only had to wear them for a year. But now I have to wear my retainer every night or every other night to make sure they don't move back. Even if I miss a night of wearing them it hurts when I put them back in. Before I got braces I was very insecure about my smile and now I smile all the time.
I had quite overcrowded teeth, which are too big for my mouth, and they were in a narrow shape rather than a wide arc. I was meant to have at least two teeth taken out. The wonderful dentist I went to used the Damon system of braces. It was $1000 cheaper than regular braces, faster change-overs, WAY LESS pain, and I only needed them for 11 months, while friends with less crooked teeth had theirs on for 2 years. And no extractions! The amount of confidence that can come from having straightened teeth is incredible. I smiled way more (because it was physically easier) and it was easier to speak. So thankful to my grandparents, who insisted on paying for my braces.
I sucked my thumb until I was 12 years old, grew out of it, got on the waiting list for braces, was on the waiting list for a year. Before braces (which I got when I was 13) I had an overbite of 16mm (1.6 cm) and my front bottom teeth were overlapping. I had 4 teeth removed, and train track braces fitted. I had to keep going back and getting thicker wire until I was at the thickest wire they did, because my molars are small and worn down they could only attach a plate to one row of teeth behind the gaps. I now have a very tiny gap between my front teeth top and bottom, which I have to floss. I have a very slight overbite, and learned how to talk properly again (my overbite was so bad my tongue struggled to reach my top teeth to make certain sounds) and all of my teeth are straight. I had braces for 19 months, wore my retainer for about another year. I have slight staining on my teeth from where I didn't clean them quite well enough during the time period of my braces. Probably no one will read this, I just wanted to back up to anyone who is self conscious about their teeth that these problems can be fixed. 😊
RandomGirl 2173 when you think they need it, pop them in a cup of water with a denture cleansing tablet in for a few hours (your teeth won’t move if you take them out for a tiny time!) and then scrub them with a brush. but mine did crack sometimes due to me not removing them carefully enough. Take your time with it, make sure you always pop them back in their case during meal times and clean them when needed!
Thank you for this review. I have really been wanting this treatment. I had braces when I was young but that I am 49, they are crooked again. I have been filming some videos to put on TH-cam and I HATE the way my teeth look and I think about my teeth ALL THE TIME! I can't wait to do this!
When I was younger I was so embarrassed of my teeth, I would never smile in photos and I would cover my mouth when I laughed. I had that thing where your canines grow in front of your front teeth and i hated it. Then I got braces in University and after I got them off my confidence went way up. Like Emma said, I dont even have to think about them which is the best part. Thank you for making this video, I relate to it a lot!
Well done Emma. I have braces and they are horrible. This was a really cool video idea and your doing so well this year. I'm glad your getting to where you want to go xx good on you xx
I had regular old metal chunky braces, but i was 15 at the time so it didn't really matter since a lot of people had those. I think the pain is kinda of similar since it basically does the same thing. I am glad i didn't have to take those out to eat or anything because from my experience with 'the big retainer' that thing's kinda gross to take out and put back in again without cleaning it. I have metal wire on my bottom teeth, because my top teeth come too far down and if i had had a wire there as well, my bottom teeth would touch it whenever i close my mouth which is a bit not good. So i have the big retainer for my top row of teeth and ive worn it every night for nearly 4 years (except maybe a few days which is max a week altoghether). I rarely feel pain in the morning since my teeth dont get the chance to move, but remembering to put in the retainer is more a habit that needs to be learned in the beginning. I've known plenty people who told me i wouldnt be wearing it as often after the first year, or 6 months even, but i didnt want to have gone through all the pain, just to have my teeth look like before again. Anyway, nice of you to talk about this, bye
I was thinking about getting them but that price! I guess it’s worth it bc I’m always trying not to show my bottom row of teeth on pictures. I’m glad this was an honest review.
Lesly Escobar Invisalign isn’t the only way to go! It’s just one of the most discreet. People in the comments are recommending Smile Direct? Ask them for their experiences! :D
Thank you for being so honest and open about this. I am really self conscious about my teeth, and I think I should do something, so I don't have to think about them too. ☺
I've had slightly crooked bottom and top teeth for a really long time but whenever I went to the dentist they never recommended braces. I saw plenty of people around me get braces so I concluded that it can't be all that bad. For a while I didn't feel happy smiling showing my teeth. In photos now even if I don't think I look pretty I'll approach it in "I was really happy that day, that was so much fun". Who knows some day I might like how I look but in the meantime I'll appreciate the reminders of great times.
Great video! I tried to get Invisalign,, but my teeth was to crooked, and I had to get braces AGAIN, just because 15 year old me did not listen to the dentist,, the first time. So I have two years of youtube videos with braces,, there was no way to hide that :-] But like you,, It is just awesome when it's done and the smile is perfect.
I had braces for 1 year back in 2011. I still feel the wax impressions and the tightening and the bar across the top of my mouth that meant i couldn't touch the roof, and mine didn't even have colourful rubber bands. From never smiling in photos to literally being unable to stop though... you can bet that I wear my retainer EVERY. SINGLE. NIGHT.
I was awful when i had my braces, I was bullied a lot because of my bottom jaw always (still do slightly) move to the left when I'm talking. So having braces as well made my teenage years hell. You look amazing btw xxxx
this is slightly irrelevant? But Emma oh my god you're so beautiful and confident and I'm so shook you seem so much happier than you have been like dude idk i love u
I have braces still on but thank god it's my last year of braces but I know what you mean when you say the pain , I feel it in my teeth when you said it, I still have to go through the retainer era but that's a journey to come, And I'm glad I'm not the only one who gags or chokes on the mould I started crying(yes I know but it made me gag sooo much) and the pricing! Mine were like 5500 but they are so worth it! Anyone who is thinking of getting braces get them!! Even if they seem difficult or painful it's all worth it!! 💖
Can totally relate to this! I had my braces in 2014 at the age of 25. I'd had enough of my awful teeth and after having them removed I feel a million times better about myself. My only regret? That I didn't do it sooner!
I just got my regular metal braces off about a week ago after having them for 2 years and if anyone is getting them and is worried. They're really not a big deal, they didn't hurt that much, and the only time they do hurt is if you chew food a day or two aft er getting them thightened. Despite not really caring about my teeth that much, after getting them off i couldnt help but smile as my teeth looked really good. I was impressed with the results despite the fact i didnt brush as much as i was supposed to and i never wore the elastic bands they gave me. I wouldnt pay 4k to do it but if you can get it on the NHS or for a reasonable price id go for it.
I had train tracks for 4 years 😢 i had to have 4 teeth taken out (it was my worst nightmare) and now I just have to wear retainers every night (which i don't because they give me jaw ache..) but it was so worth all the pain and annoying appointments! My teeth are so great now
Bro I’m so insecure about my teeth. I have a genetic syndrome so i was born with fewer salivary glans (which are really important for not getting cavities), week enamel, and missing teeth. I’ve already had braces on and off for almost 5 yeas and oral surgery. They will hopefully be straight some day but I’m really insecure about the discoloration. With the insane amount of fillings I’ve had I don’t know how I can realistically whiten my teeth. Redoing just the surface level of those fillings seems like an expensive and eccentric endeavor that insurance wont cover. I should probably stop obsessing about it but thats hard to do when all of the extra care i give to my teeth seems pointless. I’m being a downed but I’m honestly so happy that you’re happy Emma. Your teeth look bomb and i’m so glad you don’t have to think about it anymore❤️.
It's actually crazy how much we're all judged on our teeth, so many people say it's a key feature of attraction and are so quick to shame people for flawed teeth. It makes me so depressed cos my teeth are the worst (they're not crooked, they're yellow, chipping and going translucent because I'm bulimic so nothing I can do about it really) and I get very jelly of teeth like yours emma, you're super lucky to have them even if it took a lot of work to get there haha
Emma, I hate my teeth, the colour, the aliignment, everything. So this was a fantastic insight! I think that the discretion of invisalign is interesting when weighing them up against metal braces. I can tell that invisalign has worked wonders for you. Good job too, you've got a beautiful smile. I never noticed your lower teeth before or even cared but if you now feel more confident in yourself, then that is worth it. I do have a question though, how quick did you see a difference and do you think that it was quicker than it would have been with braces or something else? Great video. Also, thanks for deciding to talk about this, you didn't have to, but you did. Thanks Emma.
Topaz braces would have been quicker - the difference in my teeth was gradual so I was always noticing it, but instead of the eighteen months of Invisalign, I could’ve had metal braces and it probably would have taken just over a year. Braces are cheaper and faster, and Invisalign is more discreet but more timely and expensive. Both valid choices for different needs!
I love Doctor Who and that is from his regeneration scene - which is the first time I can remember crying at a T.V show. He's not depressed, just existential.
Actually, braces takes longer - but it is cheaper. Most cases can be solved on half the time with invisalign in comparison to braces. A 1,5-2 years worth of braces is equal to about 1-1,5 years with invisalign.
I had braces for about 18 months, it was $5,000 and they fixed my extreme overbite and the gap in between my two front teeth. My jaw doesn't even look the same. Now I have two permanent retainers in my mouth and i have to wear one plastic one at night. My teeth move so easily and quickly sometimes going without my plastic retainer for just 12 hours hurts.
I'm happy that you got your teeth fixed but I don't think I'd want mine done. I have an underbite and wonky top teeth (messy, I know) and I'm under a lot of pressure to fix them by parents and orthodontists however I don't want to since I feel that they're one of the only things about my face that I like because it's unique to other people.
i’m getting invisalign later this month (not to fix crooked teeth, my jaw sits weird and could cause problems if not fixed) cause i would be wayy too insecure with train tracks, and this was a really nice informative video. thanks!
I'm really tempted to do this. I'm 30 and I hate smiling in photos. I wish I had braces when I was at school like all my friends because they've all got perfect teeth. I suppose it's like getting a new haircut or a good dress sense, something that gives you a spark of confidence.
I had braces when I was in year 6 until year 8 and then my retainers started cutting my mouth and I stopped wearing them and my teeth have moved so much so I got a plastic one and I forget to wear it thank you so much for the reminder my love 💜 so proud of you
I'm a lot younger than you but I think I ended up getting braces on and off around the same time you started and finished Invisalign, it was fall 2013 to spring 2015 that I had braces. Invisalign looks really cool but it definitely suits people with subtle crooked teeth, rather than someone like me who had a terrible crooked mess and a very noticeable gap. My teeth were not neat enough for Invisalign lol. Luckily I got my braces off at 13, I'm glad I didn't have to wear them during high school or later lol.
I used to have really bad teeth, so I had something similar to Invasalign, and it sucked(my dentist, though nice, tricked us into getting them). Going to school and having to take them off at school wasn't fun, and they smelt in the morning, so I had to soak them in a water/lemon juice solution. I would have to change the pair every week, and it hurt really bad. My dentist would get them shipped from overseas, so a few times, I don't know what happened to the ship, but I was stuck with the same set for around 3 months. A year after I started, one of my sets snapped in half, and by the time I got to the dentist, they wouldn't fit into any mould, so we decided that I would have wire braces. They barely hurt, don't smell, and I don't get teased for taking them off.
Thinking about how your teeth look all the time is currently how I feel atm. I hate them. I'm totally considering getting this done once I've eventually saved up the spondoolies. 🙌🏻
I'm in my twenties and have been thinking about invisalign a lot but was worried about the amount it costs. Never realised places took instalments though, will definitely have to look into that.
Forever envious, I wanna get my teeth sorted so bad but I can't afford it Even though a lot of places do payment plans, my budget is still so tight If I can ever get employed, and start earning a decent income, I'll look into it But I'm happy for you, glad you had the means to get yours fixed And you look beautiful, you always did tho, but like, even more-so now
I had the same problem.. my top middle teeth came out and another teeth grew behind and it was REALLY crooked... So I NEVER smiled with my teeth out...only smiled with my mouth closed..after I got braces,I had no idea how to smile with my teeth out but I really like my teeth now too :)
Such a perfect timing, i’ve been using them for a month now! and it’s so beautiful to hear your experience looking so happy:) I have one only simple question.. how did you clean the masks ? I feel like only water is never enough :(
my teeth, top and bottom, have a W shape also. it annoys me a lot, and it even hurts my tounge bc it goes in wards, and my teeth sometimes stab it. ive been wanting braces since y6 and im not in y9 and still have to wait a year, when i had my first appointment, i was outraged about how i had to wait until y10. but as soon as you mentioned you’ve been trying to “fix” your teeth really gave me so pactience
I recently had my braces off ( December 2017) and had them on early 2016, I think I got lucky as I didn't feel much pain when I had them on. I also smile with my teeth out now and I was like you and wouldn't show my teeth (before I had braces) in photos
I broke my plasticy retainers when I was still living my mum last year I begged her to take me back and get new ones again but she didn't listen (same with all of my other health issues) and now my teeth are going back to a mess and yeah
I put bracers on last year at 21, from what I heard they were the worst thing ever, and apart from the first two weeks I mostly don't even notice they are there, they are keeping me from moving away cause I am not paying for them being broke, but I start to like my smile after like 12 years soooo i'm cool with the guilt
i've had metal braces for three years now and i always hate going to the orthodonist. the good thing is, i'm getting them off in may! that'll be just in time for the school musical that i'm in (legally blonde) and in time for my highschool graduation photos! also yeah the wax imprint is a living hell.
A lot of money to pay for fixing your teeth but you are a lot more confident in yourself/your appearance since doing this so definitely would be worth it. Smiley Emma is the best Emma. I hope you and Leia are well!! Also, has the fishy glue smell finally gone?
i had been wearing retainers for 3-4 years because i have an underbite, but they didn't really work since i have to get my wisdom teeth removed in order for the retainers to work. and i have all four wisdom teeth... and im broke... and i absolutely can't stand teeth pain, sigh
I had braces for 6 years and it was the worst experience of my life. I originally had them in when I lived in Michigan and for about 3 years everything was fine. The issues started when I had to fix my underbite and you would think that it would be the rubber band things but NO! My underbite was so bad that I had metal springs that I could hear every time I opened my mouth. Then I moved back to my home state and they didn't know how to even open my braces to tighten them. I got them off in the 8th grade and was told I would have to wear a retainer for the rest of my life because of how bad my teeth were. My dog ate it within a week. I still hear my jaw pop every time I yawn too. Would've much rather have had Invisalign than deal with the pain of metal braces.
My braces are off since 2012 but I can still feel the pain you're talking about VERY clearly... _my god_
teeth straighter than me
lgbtblackery honestly
dont forget me when you’re famous bb

😂
came here looking for this comment. thank you
I had to wear braces for more than two years.
I had my braces of last year
My retainer broke and now mine are back to how they were. I can’t afford a new one
Ok Emma. You've posted 13 videos in a single month! High five! ✋
Puffy Panda ha! That’s a surprising amount for me!
You're a good friend. For me, only my first tray hurt ! Im on my 17th now :)
I had an over bite and I was super conscious of my teeth. I didn't really smile in photos or if I laughed I didn't show my teeth but after having braces for 2 and a half years, it's helped my confidence so much and now I'm confident smiling in photos and what not. It hurt a lot but it was definitely worth it
Suprano 121 that’s awesome! I still have an overbite, but the teeth are straight, so whatever ;D
Thank you! Awh, well I think it's not noticeable, your teeth are lovely! Hahaha 😄
With braces, once they're off do you have to wear the retainer once a week to keep them straight like Emma said you do with Invisiline?
BRACES ARE 100% WORTH IT
If you’re happy with funky, different teeth that’s so awesome but if you’re insecure it’s a life changer, I’m finally smiling with my teeth for the first time in 17 years.
Awesome seeing videos like this and those with media attention talk about positives and negatives of braces.
(If your under 18 in the uk and have been told you are eligible really consider it because if there are any jaw issues they will get worse as you get older and you will be forking out to fix them)
I've seriously been thinking about this in the last year. I think this is my sign to actually go get a consult 💗
Cool. Do what makes you happy!
this hairstyle looks amazing on you, I loved it. It's something about the colour of both your hair and the background may be, and the style is so chill. Love you, take care!
I am currently wearing my invisaligns. So far the difference has been amazing. I can't wait to see my smile when I'm done.
dylanistrash I hope you love them!!
Your smile is beautiful, Emma!! I'm so glad it worked and you're happy with the results, too. Congrats!! : ) : ) : )
Your smile has always made my day Emma before and after. I live for "I'll catch you later".
this little bit of hair stuck to your eyelash makes me want to throw my screen out of the window.
If I do and it works, then I'll love you for making this video forever
I mean I'm not really insecure, but it bothers be a little bit, my teeth were a mess from the beginning and I don't want them like that for the rest of my life.
Emma you have such a cute smile! ❤️
Lauren's Life! Thank you!!
Sophiesticated I’m so glad you’re happier!!
before i got braces i wore these retainers that had sort of blocks on them to fix my overbite, and i absolutely hated them but it did the job so i shouldn’t complain too much. i got braces for about 2 years and then i wore invisalign 24/7. now i only sleep in them but the change all that had on my teeth and my mouth in general is insane. definitely worth it.
CallMeMegan you too!!
Have been considering invisalign for quite some time and you are another person who has recommended it wholeheartedly. Very much appreciate the before and after photos though as they've been somewhat tricky to find. Looks like I'll need to book an appointment.
You can tell your happier with your smile so much since Invisalign and your confidence 💕
Go the distance, still making a come back! Still one of my favourite songs! ❤️
About a year ago I finished up my five year long process of braces and jaw surgery (on the wonderful NHS .
This has honestly helped me so so much! My teeth have been my biggest insecurity since I can remember. I'm hoping to get invisalign too, but the 4 grand price tag is so off-putting! After watching this, I can really see the benefits :D
its your favourite kazoo player back at it again with the comments all over the place , oh and i’m v excited to watch this i’ve been waiting FOREVER
I had one tooth near my front teeth that was really high up my gum and bothered me for years
I then had braces and found out I had an overbite, gap between my front teeth and my mouth was overcrowded xD (all of which I never noticed before as I only focused on the really obvious one)
2 and a half years later along with 2 less teeth I am so happy with how they are now
(TIP don't get red braces as it looks like your gums are bleeding and dont get your braces put on 2 days before Christmas T_T
What is the best way to care for a retainer? Keeping it clean and making sure it doesn't get broken etc.?
Wonderful video too.
RandomGirl 2173 idk help me mine gets mouldy easily
Your laugh makes me so happy!
Thanks Emma, I have plenty of food for thought. Keep making your fantastic music and videos.
Braces are cheap in the Netherlands, are almost for free :o. you only have to pay 30 euros per month extra on insurance.
hey, you've been a huge inspiration for me for the longest time. love you em
I have an underbite and wonky top teeth (messy, I know) and I'm under a lot of pressure to fix them by parents and orthodontists however I don't want to since I feel that they're one of the only things about my face that I like because it's unique to other people.
i’m getting invisalign later this month (not to fix crooked teeth, my jaw sits weird and could cause problems if not fixed) cause i would be wayy too insecure with train tracks, and this was a really nice informative video. thanks!
robyn graham you’re very welcome!!
YESSSSSSSS omg pray for me, I'm on my 5th Invisalign trays right now and they gave me such a painful mouth ulcer.
I just love the new aesthetics
I'm really tempted to do this. I'm 30 and I hate smiling in photos. I wish I had braces when I was at school like all my friends because they've all got perfect teeth. I suppose it's like getting a new haircut or a good dress sense, something that gives you a spark of confidence.
I had braces when I was in year 6 until year 8 and then my retainers started cutting my mouth and I stopped wearing them and my teeth have moved so much so I got a plastic one and I forget
to wear it thank you so much for the reminder my love 💜 so proud of you
I'm a lot younger than you but I think I ended up getting braces on and off around the same time you started and finished Invisalign, it was fall 2013 to spring 2015 that I had braces.
I know this is about your teeth but what you’re wearing looks SO SOFT AND FLUFFY
Forever envious, I wanna get my teeth sorted so bad but I can't afford it
Even though a lot of places do payment plans, my budget is still so tight
If I can ever get employed, and start earning a decent income, I'll look into it
But I'm happy for you, glad you had the means to get yours fixed
And you look beautiful, you always did tho, but like, even more-so now
Emma is so beautiful. She makes me smile.(:
I had the same problem.. my top middle teeth came out and another teeth grew behind and it was REALLY crooked... So I NEVER smiled with my teeth out...only smiled with my mouth closed..after I got braces,I had no idea how to smile with my teeth out but I really like my teeth now too :)
Such a perfect timing, i’ve been using them for a month now! and it’s so beautiful to hear your experience looking so happy:)
I have one only simple question.. how did you clean the masks ?
I never smiled with my mouth opened before my braces, but now I'm so happy with my teeth & I don't mind wearing a retainer every night :)
A lot of money to pay for fixing your teeth but you are a lot more confident in yourself/your appearance since doing this so definitely would be worth it. Smiley Emma is the best Emma. I hope you and Leia are well!! Also, has the fishy glue smell finally gone?
i've been using invisalign for about three weeks now and haven't experienced any pain other than the very first day. i guess i'm lucky
I have a friend who has teeth that look pretty much exactly like yours used to. I don't know why, but I think it looks charming on her.
i had been wearing retainers for 3-4 years because i have an underbite, but they didn't really work since i have to get my wisdom teeth removed in order for the retainers to work. and i have all four wisdom teeth... and im broke... and i absolutely can't stand teeth pain, sigh
Anyone else now have TH-cam suggesting an Invisalign time lapse video with the scariest looking thumbnail after watching this?
Wear your retainer after!!!!! I was lazy and didn't all the time and regret it!
