These are great tools, if there are anyone out there new to music production, here are a few things in the same ballpark as this vid: i would really advise you to look into compressers, you would not belive the amount of things you can do aside from the expected things, another thing many new produsers dont know is that you can make sounds cleaner and brighter using saturation.
    edit: my bad english

I adore thermal. It's been on almost every track of every session even in it's default state. It just adds some thickness to every sound, and if i need something more i scroll through presets!

If you enjoy thermal I highly recommend Kilohearts Snap Heap. If I could describe it, I'd say "Thermal and Shaperbox had a baby". It has excellent presets similar to Thermal, it may not have the awesome animation, but the way the UI and things are setup was actually more approachable for me than thermal. For the reason like mentioned at 10:08 the "under the hood" of Thermal is a bit complicated and I had a similar experience like mentioned in the video, mostly jumping from preset to preset and just the main animated slider. However with Snap Heap I found it much more obvious what was affecting what and Reverse engineering the presets was more intuitive and came naturally, which eventually led to more intentional and personal changes. Good luck out there boys!

For those who use FL and can't afford RC-20: Check out Frank Pole's video on his patcher clone, it has a free download of it.
I've been using it for every single project, and I agree with Alex on this one, it is a MUST to give your sounds it's own personality.

One thing I'm getting into, is making sure I leave notes on all the different vsts and what they do, at least the ones that you are going to use in the future. That way you could just go back to the notes and say oh yeah I need to drum shaper, or I need a LFO tool and you'll have all those notes telling you which ones do that for you. Very very important.

volume shaper can also be triggered via midi note C3. So, I’ll sometimes siphon off rhythms as midi from sources as trigger to duck other elements. It can be cleaner than a compressor as it’s literally just turning the volume down without “artifacts.”

Hi Alex, great video! I would argue about the only tool making this panning effect. Checkout Energy Panner or Brightness Panner from Sound Particles, they are great. Not just going left to right but front to rear also in many different ways with different presets. DS Tantra is very powerful for all sorts of fx too as well as Arturia's EFx Fragments that just came out months ago. It is an amazing tool to creates all sorts of granular movement and effects. My choice of the year 2022. Thermal is great indeed!! Love it! Cheers!
